Snake River Mesa BLM Dispersed near Glenns Ferry

Description

The southern tip of a mesa roughly 500 feet above the Snake River canyon offers a BLM pullout with 180-degree views over the river, the railroad corridor, and I-84 far below — dramatic at sunset and even more so at sunrise. Access follows Old Oregon Trail Road (I-84 exit 120) to an unsigned dirt track that runs about a mile to the rim; the road is well-suited to big rigs in dry conditions but turns to impassable mud after rain or snow, so surface conditions are worth checking before committing. Some highway and train noise carries up from the canyon, and the exposed mesa top can be genuinely windy.
