Description
A BLM ridge in Humboldt County's rugged coastal range near the South Fork Eel River drainage hosts this large flat pullout, which opens onto wide valley views that are best at sunrise and sunset. Red Mountain Road climbs steeply to reach it — high clearance is essential, and four-wheel drive is strongly advised in wet or muddy conditions — but the payoff is a roomy, sunny platform that has accommodated everything from Subarus to truck campers. Traffic on the road is minimal, and cell signal (AT&T and Verizon) carries up from the valley.
