Spur of the moment camping worked out for me here. It was early August and some campgrounds were full, but this one had plenty of openings. Lots of sites for tents and RVs, lots of trees for privacy and sound insulation, and clean simple bathrooms. Of course the hiking opportunities around Salt Point State Park are pretty spectacular and the sights along Hwy 1 are great. I would give 5 stars but the camp host made himself pretty scarce and that was inconvenient.
