Lots of wildlife
This campground is located about 12 minutes outside of Oracle, AZ and is a great place to go to disconnect (no cell reception). We spent two nights here and had a great time! The campground had bathrooms, running well water and bear safes, as well as campfire rings and picnic tables. There are some lovely hikes very close to the campsite, but we were unable to check them out since we have a dog with a hurt paw :( There’s abundant wildlife, and both mornings we woke up to the sound of wild turkeys checking out our setup. The fee is $15 per night, which you drop in a box at the entrance to the campground. We didn’t ever see a host, but it could be because of the season, considering we were basically alone the entire time. There is however a lot of traffic going through the campsite because of a school at the end, but the cars didn’t bother us (in fact they made us feel a little safer knowing there were other people around). The road going in is a dirt road and I would definitely not recommend trying it after a rain. P.S. Biosphere 2 is about 30 minutes from the campground and is definitely worth the visit!
