Lower Provo River Campground

Gorgeous area far from the road and right next to the Lower Provo

This is a small secluded campground that's as far from the Hwy as you'll find in this part of the Uintas! The campground is a couple of miles down the road from the Pine Valley Group Sites and passage can be pretty rough especially after a storm. This place has ample shade at each of the 10 camping sites and as the name implies is a stone's throw away from the Lower Provo River. There is plenty of flow this far down the Provo due to the feed in from all the tributaries and is less likely to be dry than campgrounds further up in the drainage. While we were there there was a little rock pool that was made in the river which made it really easy to soak in after hiking. Due to the distance and maintenance of the road on the way to the campground it is a little bit cheaper than most of the other Hwy CG's. Each night of camping costs $18 and is first come first served. You will also need a Mirror Lake Hwy Recreation Pass which is $6 for 3 days and $12 for the week. If you have an America the Beautiful Interagency Pass, that will cover the recreation fee but not the camping fee
