Nice campground, questionable management

A very nice campground-- but beware-- the management and booking is questionable.  They may try to cram 2 rigs on a site and charge you the same amount.  Management was MIA at check in and rude about a poor customer experience that Victorian Acres created.

We had 2 sites reserved and paid for (with numbers) when the owner called my husband morning of (who was driving our rig at 70mph at the time), and asked if we wanted 2 sites facing each other withOUT explaining that he was really trying to book us BOTH on ONE of their sites that had 2 hook-ups. Essentially we'd have to move a picnic table-- you could see there was gravel there at some point--whereas, typically there are nice gravel pull-thrus and an equally-sized grass area. He'd oversold and was trying to get people who had booked together to park together--one on gravel and the other on the grass-- without explaining the grass part.

We arrived at 1 PM (check in starts at noon), no one could be bothered to answer the phone (we called 3 times) and no one was there to greet us.  So after stopping to see if anyone were around to check us in, we drove in. We parked on our 2 side by side gravel sites-- the campground virtually empty-- and settled in. We hooked up. Put out slides.  I fed my 3 month old baby, and put her to sleep, while my 3 year old rode his bike and played on the playground (they had a steering wheel!).

At 4PM the manager came by with a fifth-wheel and told us we needed to move. They claimed someone else had our site. The owner (who was somehow reachable by phone now) said he called and "left a voicemail" changing our sites and assigning us a real spot and a "make-do" spot-- both for full price. Again, this call apparently came while we were traveling with 2 small children from South Dakota.

This was to be our last night camping with Grandma and PapPap on our 40 day trip "Out West."  We were fully paid, reserved and fully hooked up.  We were looking forward to a campfire and camp breakfast.

The manager was rude, rushing us (2 rigs) to unhook and move to the makeshift site arrangement, since he'd since sold our reserved spot for the night. "I have people waiting to get in."  This was odd since we were 2 rigs, which were reserved, paid, and fully hooked up.  It also put the other customers in a terribly awkward position, feeling they needed to stare us down until we vacated "their" one spot.  Given this treatment, and the fact that we'd have to unhook and hook up anyway, we opted to leave and requested a refund.

The WalMart 3 miles away was hospitable enough for the night stay. Cheaper too.

The owner promised a full refund.  As of this writing, morning after, money has not been refunded.

All my 3 year old could say on repeat was "this is so disappointing..." and that sums it up, nicely.
