## Overview

 Gros Ventre (pronounced \_\_\_grow-vont\_\_\_), means \_\_\_big belly\_\_\_ in French, and the Gros Ventre Campground\_\_\_surrounded by cottonwood trees and featuring stunning views of Blacktail Butte and the Teton Mountains\_\_\_is truly magnificent! The campground\_\_\_s location next to the Gros Ventre River offers some of the best opportunities in the park for wildlife sightings, as bison, moose, mule deer and a wide variety of birds are known to frequent the area. For avid anglers, the Gros Ventre River offers plentiful cutthroat trout, brook trout, and whitefish. While none of Gros Ventre\_\_\_s campsites are on the river, all are within walking distance. The campground offers camping for tents and dry camping for RVs. Campsites include 279 individual campsites, 4 large group sites, and 39 electric-only sites, 10 of which are ADA-accessible. The campground is open from late-April to early-October. While Gros Ventre Campground doesn\_\_\_t always fill as quickly as some of the other park campgrounds, visitors are still encouraged to plan and book early.\_\_Campground has two dump stations with limited use availability. Please inquire with campground staff upon arrival for use information. 
## Recreation

 Grab your fly fishing rod and take a short walk down to the Gros Ventre River. Or, if you prefer, our experienced guides offer private guided fly fishing down the famous and scenic Snake River. The Gros Ventre area is a prime location for wildlife watching and photography. Walk along the banks of the river under cottonwood trees and willows to capture that perfect photo of a beaver, moose, elk, bison, or bears. (Be sure to maintain appropriate distance!) Located a short drive away is Mormon Row, featuring the iconic and historic John Moulton barn. Blacktail Butte Trail is a 7.3-mile, moderately trafficked out and back trail, located near Gros Ventre which features beautiful wildflowers, sage brush, and lodgepole pine. The butte is known for its views of the Gros Ventre and Teton Mountain Ranges. Sport climbing is a popular activity in the area; Blacktail Butte\_\_\_s limestone wall offers mostly 5.10, 5.11, and 5.12 climbs with incredible Teton views. 
## Facilities

 Gros Ventre campground offers camping for tents and dry camping for RVs. Each tent campsite has a gravel parking space for two vehicles and tent pads for up to two tents. Each RV campsite has a back-in or pull-through gravel parking space for one RV and one tow vehicle with a maximum total length of 45 feet.\* There is a limited use RV dump station available across from the campground office. All sites have a picnic table, a fire pit with metal fire grate, food storage lockers and access to nearby water spigots and flush toilets. There are no shower facilities at the campground. Please note that generators are only permitted in loops A, B, and C. ADA Access: There are 10 campsites that are ADA compliant with electric-only hook-ups. Most sites in the campground are level, vehicle-accessible, and surfaced with compact gravel. Several restroom facilities are wheelchair-accessible. The campground loop roads are paved and generally level, with some small inclines/declines. Routes to the amphitheater have an incline and are paved, but somewhat uneven. Please note, neither the campground registration office nor the courtesy phone are wheelchair accessible. There is no internet service at Gros Ventre Campground; the closest public wireless internet access is in the town of Jackson, a 10- to 15-minute drive away. Cellular coverage varies, and may be available depending on location within the campground and service provider. There is a campground host on-site, and a courtesy phone located at the campground kiosk. Firewood and ice can be purchased at the campground office during posted business hours. Campground Office is open from 8am-8pm during peak season.

 The Gros Ventre Campground is situated in a tranquil setting with incredible views of Blacktail Butte and the Grand Teton Mountain Range. Within walking distance is the Gros Ventre River, which runs through forests, cliffs, and narrow canyons. This area is known for its remarkable fly fishing and photography opportunities.\_\_ Gros Ventre is home to elk, moose, mule deer, bighorn sheep, wolves, black and grizzly bears, and more. Bears are often seen on trails and in the developed areas. Being prepared for an animal encounter can help ensure your safety as well as that of the wildlife that call this spectacular area home.

 Gros Ventre Campground is the closest in the park to the town of Jackson, where you can visit the National Museum of Wildlife Art located just outside of town, walk under the famous giant elk antler archway in town center, attend the Jackson Hole Rodeo, browse local shops, and dine at one of the many restaurants. Or head north and take a self-guided tour of Grand Teton via the 43-mile Scenic Loop Drive, offering an opportunity to photograph the famous landscape and local wildlife. Then make your way to the historic Jackson Lake Lodge for its famous huckleberry milkshakes and spectacular Teton views through 60-foot tall wall-to-wall windows. While you\_\_\_re there, book a scenic raft trip, park bus tour, or horseback ride. Go a few miles further to Colter Bay Village where you can rent a kayak or canoe, take a guided boat ride to the majestic base of the Teton Range, or just enjoy lunch and the stunning lake view from the marina. From there, it\_\_\_s a short drive to Yellowstone National Park\_\_\_s south entrance.\_\_ 
## Charges &amp; Cancellations

 Changing Reservations: There is no change fee if a visitor extends or shortens a reservation, as long as the change includes dates from the original reservation. Additionally, there is no change fee if the visitor wants to switch sites that are the same price with the same reservation dates in the same facility. If a visitor wants to switch dates that are entirely outside of the original reservation dates, there is a $10 change fee. If a reservation is made that includes dates beyond the maximum booking window, that reservation cannot be changed until 18 days have passed from the original booking date. Once a reservation date has begun, visitors cannot change a reservation using the online system or through the Call Center. Onsite staff will assist with changes or cancellations. Cancellations: Visitors may cancel their reservation prior to arrival both on-line and through the call center. A $10 service fee will be withheld from any refund for a cancellation. A visitor who cancels a reservation the day before or on the day of arrival will pay a $10.00 service fee AND forfeit the first night\'s approved rate including tax and applicable add-on. Cancellations for a one-night reservation will forfeit the entire amount paid and will not be subject to an additional service fee. Visitors who cancel a group overnight facility reservation less than 14 days prior to arrival date will pay a $10 service fee AND forfeit the first night\_\_\_s rate. No-Shows: A no-show visitor is one who does not arrive at a campground and does not cancel the reservation by check-out time on the day after the scheduled arrival date. Staff will hold a campsite until check-out time on the day following the arrival date. No-shows are assessed $20.00 service fee and forfeit the first night\'s rate, taxes and applicable add-on for a campsite. Early Departures: Visitors are requested to notify staff at the facility if they depart early to allow others to use the site. If the visitor chooses to depart early, they may forfeit the approved rate and applicable tax and applicable add-on for the day of departure. If a visitor departs prior to the scheduled check-out date, they may be eligible for a partial refund. Visitors may notify the Recreation.gov call center to request a refund of remaining unused nights. If a visitor requests a refund for an early departure after the facility check-out time (11 am) has passed, the visitor will not be refunded for that night and is eligible for a refund on any additional nights that will not be used. Refunds: Visitors may submit a refund request through their Recreation.gov profile within 7 days of the end date of their reservation. Visitors may also initiate a refund request through the call center at any time after their reservation has ended. Refunds for debit or credit card payments will be issued as a credit to the original bank or credit card used to pay. For check or cash purchases, Recreation.gov will mail a Treasury check for refunds of cash, check, or money order payments to the address associated with the reservation. Treasury check refunds may take up to 6-8 weeks to arrive. In the event of an emergency closure, the Recreation.gov team or facility manager will refund all fees and will attempt to notify you using the contact information within the Recreation.gov visitor profile.

Gros Ventre Campground — Grand Teton National Park

Closest campground to Jackson Hole Large campground with seven loops/372 sites plus a group site that is first-come, first available. Loops are divided according to type: tent only, RV with allowable generator use, electric with no generators allowed, non-electric, group. The electric sites are pricey ($40 with a senior pass) so we used one for just one night to charge up and switched to a non-electric for the second night. Sites vary in size; some shrubbery or trees provide separation between some sites but not all. Our site for the first night (D184) was a little confusing in that the picnic table was located quite a distance from our parking pad and behind what almost looks like another parking pad (but it is not paved and does not have a number). When we returned in the evening, we found two people parked in this area using our table. They wanted to set up a tent but we held our ground. We woke the next morning to another car parked there! Our next night was spent in site D232, with a view of the mountains. Flush toilets with no showers as you would expect in a national park.  There is a dump station and everything is recycled, including propane canisters, a welcome change after not seeing any recycling in Idaho. Very pleasant and helpful staff at check-in. They even showed us a photo of a carving made in a tree in our site. Obviously, they were not condoning the defacing of a tree but since it was there, it was nice they let us know about it as we never would have thought to look for it. This is the closest campground to Mormon village and to the town of Jackson Hole.

This campground was pretty fairly priced considering the area, and the campsites were clean and included a picnic table and fire ring with a grate. There was no tent pad but it was pretty easy to find a flat spot. The sites were spaced far enough apart that you didn't feel like you were on top of one another and there were a few bathroom facilities which were clean. We thought this camp ground was going to have sites right next to the river, which it didn't and we were a little disappointed. Depending on which side of the campground you are on, there are some pretty good views of the Tetons.

Good Campground

This is definitely for those with a big group that likes to party. It wasn't suited for my family of 4 who likes to backpack. There are better places to go in the park like Signal Mountain or Jenny Lake.

Groups

A big, yet surprisingly quiet, campground with amazing views of the Tetons. Situated right on the Gros Ventre river, and is kept impressively clean and organized. Hook ups for campers and RVs, but also has tent sites. Moose, elk and bison frequent the area, so there's a pretty good chance of lots of wildlife sightings. In a great location, right between the Grand Teton National Park entrance (about 10 mile away) and the town of Jackson (10 miles in the other direction). The town of Kelly is just a few miles East, which also has a small general store for quick needs. 

Maybe the top campground in the Tetons

Gros Ventre is close to the southern end of Grand Teton National Park entrance. It's a large mixed use campground with lots of RV and tent sites. They get busy as do all of the campgrounds in or near the park, so get there early to get a site. Even getting there at 11am, we got stuck pitching the tent on an RV loop. Sites all had fire pits and picnic tables and were level. The campground is next to the Gros Ventre River and across the street from Antelope Flats. We were duly warned about bears and food storage (keep your cooler in the car), and bison have been known to wander into the campground in the past. No showers on site, but you can visit one of the other park campgrounds or just drive into Jackson and go to the Recreation Center. For less than $10 you get a day pass that gives you access to the showers, pool, etc.

Gros Ventre is a great location if you want to visit both Jackson Hole and the Grand Tetons and camp somewhere convenient in between.  As a big campground south of the main entrance to the NP, the sites here don't seem to fill up as quickly as the sites at more popular deep in the park campgrounds like Jenny Lake. 

If you get a spot along the first row in any of the loops, you can set up your tent with a great Tetons view. Staff in the ranger station were friendly, and because it is a big park, you can use a credit card to pay for your site. Some sites have more privacy than others. If you know what you really want (view, privacy, near toilet) ask when you check in. 

Sites had standard picnic table, bear box, and fire ring, and toilets were easily accessible within each camping loop. You're not far from Jackson if you want to visit the town.

The campground is very accessible to the Mormon Road and the most photographed barns in front of the Teton sunrise/sunset. It's also a great location for cycling. There are some nearby hikes, but the better hikes are just a quick drive into the actual NP. 

Convenient to Jackson Hole & Grand Tetons

This experience was my first to Wyoming and the first glimpse of the beautiful Tetons!  I did a climb with Summit for Someone (SFS), to raise money for underprivileged city youth.  SFS raises money via donations to get these kids out in the mountains to experience the great outdoors where it's possible, without this opportunity, that they would never get to experience it.

On the climb up to Buck Mountain, we camped off trail remotely.  The area was great with a TON of huckleberries all around us.  I would definitely be sure to have some bear spray while camping there.  We had great views and an easy route up to the summit that morning.

The Grand Teton National Park in WY is incredible. If you ever visit Wyoming and want to camp, you should definitely think about staying here- or at least come to just see the park. The Grand Teton Park is located in near the town of Jackson, and the views and mountains that you see are pretty awesome. I love living in Wyoming because it feels like I am surrounded by mountains, and there are a lot of great camping spots nearby. The campground is the best campground I have ever stayed at because it is so clean and there are so many outdoor activities you can do. The campground is also pretty large, there are over 300 campsites- this makes it nice because you don't feel like you are camping right next to someone, and you have room between campsites. When I stayed with some friends we were able to get a pretty awesome spot right next to the river-Gros Ventre River. My group and I also really appreciated the things that were included in each campsite. There was a nice picnic table and fire pit. We definitely used both of these every night. We also got really lucky because there was a restroom not to far away- within walking distance. I thought these bathrooms were pretty well kept, and they weren't just potter potties, they actually were restrooms that have toilets that flushed! That is always a nice added bonus!! They don't offer showers on their facilities, but we just used the river to wash off- however there is a place nearby that you can go to shower, but you do have to pay a fee. I know the people who camped next to us used this and they said it wasn't too far away. One thing that I loved was the view of the Grand Teton Mountain in the morning. My friends and I used our hammocks and would sit in those in the morning, drank some coffee, had breakfast and just enjoyed the view. We did get to the campground a little later then we had hoped- we wanted a spot next to Jenny Lake, but apparently those spots fill up very fast. Our spot was still nice, but it was closer to the road so we did hear some of the traffic at night. If you want a good spot, I would advise to go early. We did see some wildlife- we took some walks throughout the day and saw some deer, lots of birds and chipmunks! A couple that we ran into said they saw a moose earlier in the morning. This place is pretty awesome, and I would recommend staying here!

Best place I have ever camped! 

The Tetons are a gorgeous park! The Gros Ventre Campground has nice services but is a relatively small area with a lot of sites crammed in, offering little privacy or quiet.

Convenient for location in park. Keep food stored properly from animals and bears. Store, RV sites. I was tent camping.

Small, crowded, paved road camp sites

The sites are simply amazing. Once you enter the park you will be blown apart. The sites are pretty compact and is perfect for about 2 people. The site were about 25 dollars but is completely worth it even though it is small. No other park can beat this one and I would definitely come here again. 

Unbelievable

Of the eight National Parks I visited on my month long roadtrip, Grand Teton was my favorite. Gros Ventre is a great location to explore the park, particularly the southern half (Moose and Jackson, WY).

There is next to no privacy - the campground is in the middle of a few cottonwood trees and lots of scrub brush. Bathrooms were clean, staff was incredibly friendly.

Mormon Row is less than five minutes away by car if you want a great place to watch the sunrise! Craft beer could be found in Moose where there's a roof top bar.

Best view in America!

Beautiful campground located outside of Jackson, Wyoming. Perfect for day trips in and around the Grand Tetons. Lots of wild moose, bison and all types of other beautiful animals just do not approach them. $28 per night, first come first served $52 per night for RV ADA sites. Go see the Mountain Barn that's just up the road, stunning! The moose photo I took right by my campsite, amazing place.

Amazing Location

Stayed first week of July 2017\. Located in huge grove of trees on the Gros Ventre river. Lots of tall sage brush help create cozy camps. Sites are spread out nicely. Not sure why some people said they are cramped?? We were on the river side, so no Teton view, but easy walk to river. Very quiet campground. Park staff friendly and funny! We had electric site. Potable water, dump station and firewood on site. Fire rings and picnic tables were in good shape. Didn't use bathrooms as we have a TT. Easy drive to Mormon row, Moose, and Jackson. Take time to drive the short drive to Lower Slide Lake/Atherton Campground. GORGEOUS! Wildlife all around especially in mornings and evenings.

Clean,  Quiet Camp 

We stayed at [Gros Ventre](http://www.gtlc.com/camping/gros-ventre-campground) for 2 nights at the end of July as part of a 3+ week road trip. We had a non-electric site (324) in Loop F. Even in the middle of the summer, we had no problem getting a walk-up site after arriving at approximately 2 PM (though they were running out), probably because it's a pretty large campground and not one of the 'prime time' ones like [Jenny Lake](http://www.gtlc.com/camping/jenny-lake-campground) or Signal Mountain. We really liked this campground because it is centrally located between Jackson and [Moose Junction](http://enjoyyourparks.com/GrandTetonParkMooseJunction.html) and the park itself (darn mountain in the way...). It's also very close to the [Mormon Row historic district](https://www.nps.gov/grte/learn/historyculture/mormon.htm) which we happened to drive down ONLY because Google originally mapped us down that dirt road in order to get to the campground (which I would not advise, unless you had already planned to visit [Mormon Row](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mormon_Row_Historic_District)). The campground itself was adequate, with nice, level sites, so-so restrooms, and access to the Gros Ventre River for fishing if that's your thing. 

[Jackson](https://www.visitjacksonhole.com/) is a nice cross between a typical just-outside-the-park-boundaries tourist trap town and well-to-do vacation destination so that there is really a nice mix of something for everyone. After spending 4 days in Yellowstone, we were hungry - literally - for something other than really terrible NP food, and thankfully Jackson delivered. We had a _fantastic_ meal (and LOTS of beer) at [Snake River Brewing](http://www.snakeriverbrewing.com/), and I highly recommend it. [Cowboy Coffee](https://cowboycoffee.com/) is an awesome coffee shop and cafe right on 191 (and, bonus, they serve pastries from [Persephone Bakery](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=1&amp;cad=rja&amp;uact=8&amp;ved=0ahUKEwjU452JxevVAhUg3YMKHUtkBjUQFggnMAA&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fpersephonebakery.com%2F&amp;usg=AFQjCNFKnBg6k7Bx_Mdd5HGPt_Sn8xiFuA)) - their smoothies were a big hit with the kids, and their breakfast burritos were a delicious way to start the day. If you like tea, get the London Fog - delicious.

For hiking in the area, we did the full [Taggart Lake loop trail](https://www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/wyoming/taggart-lake-trail) and it was wonderful - I really liked the fact that the trail TO Taggart Lake was so different than the hike FROM Taggart Lake (we went counter-clockwise around the loop). The ranger at Moose did say that several people reported seeing bear along the trail the same way that we went, but we were looking for them (while singing and clapping loudly for most of the hike) and did not see any. There are connecting hikes to Bradley Lake and beyond, though most of the 'beyond' connections get very steep, very fast. We also did the [Hidden Falls hike](https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/wyoming/hidden-falls-trail) after taking the boat across Jenny Lake, and it was beautiful! The kids enjoyed playing on the rocks and getting to see climbers coming off the mountains.

Out of the 3+ week road trip we were on, we _really_ enjoyed the Grand Teton area - the mountains are gorgeous, and it's just staggering how suddenly they jut out of the landscape. We saw our first moose in this area, and just had a wonderful time all around. We will be back!

This is a great campground close to the Parks and the town of Jackson Hole.
Large open campground. It is in Bear country so be sure to not leave Anything outside. This is enforced and even a locked cooler can be confiscated by rangers.

I really liked this campground. We were there during the week so it was pretty empty. Great view of the Tetons. It was a nice base camp to explore the Tetons and Jackson Hole. They had ice and firewood. You could rent a generator if needed. Big camp ground with several loops, each offering different options: tents only, RVs/ no generators, RVs with generators, etc. We saw moose just hanging around camp. Out on the road near Mormon row we saw a red tailed hawk fighting a bald eagle. Crazy!

Close but far from the Tetons

Gros Ventre is on the south end of Grand Teton National Park. It is a large campground along the Gros Ventre River. There are often moose in the area, and sometimes walking through the campground! The campground is just a few miles from the visitor's center, Mormon Row, the town of Jackson, and the local airport, as well as countless pullouts with incredibly scenic views of the Teton Range.

If you want to see moose in the fall, this is the place to set up camp. Sitting on the Gros Ventre River, this campground is where many moose gather during the rut. This can be dangerous, so always be on the lookout. I had a large bull moose crash through my campsite one night as we were sitting around the fire. We all took cover as he passed through. There are decent restrooms here, but no showers. Firewood can be purchased. Electric is available at some sites. it is located near Mormon Row which makes it convenient if you intend to visit the historic barns. There is a small store in Kelly a few miles up the road that make awesome sandwiches.

Moose!

We really enjoyed this campground! It is large and well maintained! One loop has electric hookups. Sites are close together but it did not bother us as we were usually out adventuring! Close to both Jackson and Grand Teton! 


Great location! 

The name of this campground should be updated to Gros Ventre. 


The road to the campground we were going to was closed due to a landslide. This was the next one on the route so we tried it. There are 300 sites on multiple loops. The ranger checking us in was cheerful and gave us a recommendation for hiking with dogs. Dogs are not allowed in many places here since it’s in Teton National Park. 

The campsite was ok. Plenty of room for my teardrop camper and my car next to it. The area around the gravel had really tall vegetation. Storage lockers for food are at each site - a bear track was just outside my site. Water is available at the restrooms but I saw people wash dinner dishes using it. Sauce and leavings were washed right down at the water source. The restrooms are old. There were lines - even for the men. Only a few are available in each loop. 

The town of Jackson is just down the road. I found it to be pricy and busy. We did hike up the Snow King Summit Trail. There were nice views and a good workout but be ready for dogs off the leash running alone on the trail. 

This was a convenient stopping point on my journey. I don’t think I’ll be back. Perhaps your experience will be better than ours. As alternatives, there are smaller national forest campgrounds down the road.

Crowded campground near Jackson and the Tetons

This campground has all the basics, water, flushing toilets and with hundreds of sites, its a great option for anyone visiting Teton without reservations.

in the evening, drive east towards kelly and up the river for beautiful views of the sunset, and/or to put your baby to sleep when the sun just won't set.

Expansive sage flats, good for those winging it 

This was a good campground to stay at for easy access to the Tetons. I even heard wolves one morning! The bathrooms were basic but kept clean.

10:30 am and found a site without reservations. No frills, small site, but we are just staying a night.

There is electrical here.... We opted for a dry site

This is one of the best service roads in Wyoming, as far as I’m concerned. On the drive you pass such a beautiful scenery of the red hills &amp; you basically drive on the side of the mountain. There are multiple paid campsites available, I believe 3 in total but there are a heap of dispersed campsites as well. We happened to stay at one on a road labeled “Taylor ranch” there is also a couple cabins for summer home rent, but if you keep going you’ll find private campsites that are dispersed and free! We stayed right on the beach of Slide Lake. The only downside to my specific site was that there is public access to the beach. We were often awoken by rowdy passerby-ers and chose to leave shortly after. If you drive further down the service road you’ll pass Crystal Creek which is about 10 miles in. Back there you won’t be bothered! However if you don’t mind talking to a couple people who walk through your site then this site is for you!

Service Road Access! 

This campground was in a gorgeous location with access to the river as well as lots of wildlife-we saw a deer and a moose in the three days we stayed! With built in bear boxes as well as campfire grate for each site and parking for typically two cars as well no generator loops, tent, trailer, and RV camping are available. The tricky part is that a few of the sites don’t have easy access to the bathrooms (no showers but bath/food cleanup dump sink) but overall, one of the most beautiful places we’ve stayed. Can get a little loud during the nights should you stay over a holiday weekend like we did, and the campground was full but I wouldn’t expect that normally.

Beautiful sights and great location

We enjoyed 2 nights at this campground. These are first come sites and we arrived on a Tuesday in mid August, no problem. Clean flush toilets. Fire ring had a lot of dried grass around it and we were hesitant to build a fire. Wonderful scenic drives!!

Coffee with a View

Gros Ventre has hundreds of campsites inside Grand Teton National Park and is not usually full. Only one loop has electric hookups and these sites are narrow and limited. Other sites are more suitable for tents or campers or vans. There are a number of other sites OK for RVs including trailers but generators are limited.

Moose may be seen in the early season. Its an easy drive into Kackson or the rest of GTNP.fair prices too, and a few group sites available by reservat. All the rest of the sites are first come, first served.

Off the beaten path

Went on a week long at trip to Yellowstone and the tetons and this was my favorite site  During our trip. Lots of space between campsites, decent bathrooms along with amazing views make for a great campsite. There are a few group sites, and firewood for sale along with safe food storage and garbages.

Favorite site 

I went out to Wyoming a couple of summers ago, and honestly it was one of the most amazing trips I have ever been on. I stayed with some friends from college in Gros Ventre campground. There were a whole bunch of us spread out over 3 sites, but the staff was very accommodating and helped us find three sites that were all connected.

The sites themselves are great. Pretty secluded from the other campers, which I love. The campground has clean drinking water and is located next to a river if you need to wash off. No showers though, so it really feels like you're roughing it.

The campground is located only about 20 minutes from the town of Jackson Hole. The place made me want to never leave Wyoming. The town has some cute coffee shops, a bouldering wall downtown, and awesome stores for outdoor enthusiasts.

The camp is also located only about 20 minutes from Grand Teton National Park. If you've never been to Wyoming, you can't imagine how beautiful this place is in the summer. Wildflowers everywhere, and once you get far enough into the park it feels like you're somewhere no other people have ever been. The stars are crazy bright and the mountains are unreal. Definitely one of my favorite national parks. I would highly recommend taking a backpacking trip through the Tetons or doing some rock climbing.

Best trip ever 

Saw three moose inside this campground. Only stayed for a night but it sure was beautiful! Sites and facilities were clean, office staff was friendly and there is an amazing view of the Tetons!

Amazing wildlife and clean sites

This campground was our last resort and the greatest find! It was GORGEOUS! A large site with lots of trees, the bathrooms weren’t too far, and the site was fairly clean. Happy camper. 

Won’t stay anywhere else

What an exceptional campground! With loops dedicated for tents and campers with no generators and then ones for RVs and the like with generators, the natural surroundings are relatively preserved. With typically two tents allowed per site and some with one car parking spots and some with two, you have ample options but be sure to get there early on holiday weekends! No reservations allowed so coming early is key; $30 a night for a tent/non generator camp site with firewood available for purchase. With great bathroom access, even without showers, this campground is great. You can access the river and while we were staying there, on a busy three day holiday weekend, we saw a total of 6 moose, 1 deer, plus an elk nearby. Definitely one of my fave campgrounds!

Exceptionally beautiful with basic amenities and excellent location

First come, first served.  Thankfully they seemed to have plenty of spaces the week we were in Grand Teton NP.  We came down from Yellowstone with our trailer.  I was hoping to stay here as I love Jackson and this spot is fairly close to town, about 30 minutes.  It was raining so we went out to dinner a few times and spent the rest of our time driving and hiking.  Didn't hang out in our campsite during the day or evening too much.  

  

These sites seemed really small.  We got our 16 foot trailer in just fine but getting our SUV off the road would have been impossible if it were any longer.  We watched the neighbors struggle to back their trailer in for quite a while, with all the nastiness that goes along with that.  Road through the loop was blocked off and everything.  

  

The bathrooms were clean and right across the road.  Beyond the bathroom was lots of woods and stream bed full of animal trails.  If you are looking for wildlife, just camp here. Moose a plenty.  Also found a beautiful buck hiding back in the trees as we took a walk behind the campground.  

  

No hook ups but there is an RV dump and you can refill your water tanks if needed.  The scenery is gorgeous here.  I will camp here every time I come back.

A beautiful place to camp in the Tetons

For the amount of people in this campground, it was quiet and pleasant. This tends to be the Grand Teton campground that fills up last, so my friend and I opted to stop here first, since we were coming in early afternoon. Good call because we snagged one of the last remaining sites! (This was on a Wednesday in July.)

We spotted a moose by the river a ways out of the campground, but no wildlife sightings in the campground itself.

Plenty of room for two 2+ tents. Picnic table and fire pit. Good sized bear box. (We were told it's okay to lock things in your car, as well. The bears here apparently don't break into cars like they do in Yosemite. Interestingly enough, we were also told by a ranger that the bears here are not scared by bear bells and in fact, are curious about them and have approached people with them because of that curiosity. So we went with carrying bear spray on hikes instead.)

Bathrooms are clean and well stocked. During COVID times, there's a sign limiting the bathrooms to one person or one family group at a time, but many people ignored this sign and would come in anyway. (Being from a COVID hot spot, I found this annoying and disrespectful, but I can't hold this against the campground.)  
  
Supposedly there are showers for campers in the park, but during COVID times, these are closed. So no showers for now.

There are central bear proof trashcans and recycling bins. You can buy ice and firewood at the camp office.

Bring allergy medication if you're allergic to cottonwoods!

Even in July, it got chilly at night, so I was glad to have hand warmers with me to throw in my sleeping bag. (It was maybe in the upper 30s?)

Overall, a nice site. We noticed that the bathrooms tended to be less crowded in the loops that had both tents and RV's because it seemed RV's were using their own bathrooms. So if you're a tenter, this is a good little tidbit to know.

Closest Grand Teton Campground to Jackson, Convenient to Park

This campground accommodates motorhomes, campers and tents. Majority of the sites are generator restricted. It's a first come first serve campground. There are fairly nice restrooms throughout the sites. Bear boxes are provided for each site as well, which was nice. Sites are quite small and packed together pretty tightly. Most sights accommodates hammocks as well. There is a 10:00 pm lights out policy which is nice after long hiking trips or visits to Yellowstone. We stayed in a tent for 6 nights and absolutely loved the area. You're within walking distance of the Gros Ventre River. A great way to be close to the Park and away from Jackson. It's about 30 mins from Jenny Lake and about 3 hours from Yellowstone South entrance. You can cut off 10 minutes if you head north from the campground and cut through Antelope Flats Rd. You'll see a lot of pronghorn if you travel it around 7 pm.

Located just outside of Teton National Park

This campground is first come first served, but is one of the easier ones to get during peak season. It’s also very close to Jackson, making it a great location to explore the area. We arrived at 11:30 on a Sunday and there were plenty of sites. Only 20-30 minutes to the Jenny Lake area of the park and about 50 minutes to Colter Bay. Mormon Row and Blacktail Butte are bike-able from the campground. The Gros Ventre River runs along the backside of the campground and is a great place to cool off on a hot day.

We spent five nights here towards the end of July 2020. This campground is a first come first, so you should try to get in line as early as possible. We were here during COVID-19; they had set up the office outside; everyone was supposed to be in line with their vehicles and stay inside. Many rangers would check you in. We got site#25 for five nights. There is a max limit of 14 days. The campsites are at a perfect distance from each other. Most, around 300, are dry camping sites, they only have a few, I think 20 to 30, electric sites. Many campsites have views of Grand Tetons; ours had some view of it. The roads and sites are paved. There is a lot of greenery. You can also see wildlife here. It's common to see Moose here, but during our stay, we only saw deers. As for cell reception, we could get 3 to 4 bars for Verizon, and one LTE or three 3G bars for AT&amp;T. This campground is outside of the National Park, but close to Jackson. Every day we drove about 11 miles to National Park through the Moose Entrance, a fun drive. We spent three days exploring the Grand Tetons NP and made a day trip to Yellowstone NP.

Amazing Campground with Grand Tetons View

This was one of my favorite places to camp. Secluded, ultra clean, quiet little campground with newly paved and expertly leveled pads. Each site was pretty good sized. Generally clean flush toilets, no showers. Full dump/rinse station located at the entrance. 

We were here in mid-August when all the wildflowers were in full bloom. Spectacular sunsets. Partial view of the Tetons and short hike to the river. Nice central location to Jenny Lake, Jackson Hole and bike trails. Great spot for 3-4 days!

This campground was the perfect base camp for our day hikes in the Grand Teton National Park. New asphalt was laid this spring on the roads and all sites. 

  

No water or electric for most of the sites but there's a dump station and fresh water available to fill up your tanks. Many sites have beautiful views of the Teton range but not all. Some sites are close together and not very private. 

  

No reservations are accepted so it's first come first served. We arrived at 9:45 am on a Monday morning and we're in our site by 10:30.

  

We will definitely stay here again on future visits to the park.

Quiet. Clean and convenient

One week spent early Aug 2020. Site sizes are fantastic. Staff was wonderful... esp Judy and her husband. Dump and potable water could use a bit more room to navigate. Love this place and hope to return down the road. No hookups but was worth it to dry camp at this location!

Love this place

I visited the Grand Tetons on a Saturday to do some hiking and when I was done I began to look for a campground at around 3pm. I downloaded a bunch of dispersed camping sites to my phone, because after doing this for awhile(almost 3 years) I've come to know that the camping sites are usually full on the weekend and with this unfortunate pandemic, people are still wanting to get out to spend time outdoors. But to my surprise, the Gros Ventre Campground (pronounced Grow-vont) wasn't full and it was a great spot to stay at.  I've been to a few NPs where the campgrounds are on top of each other, and they're a little cramped, which doesn't lend to much privacy, but this spot was different and gave occupants more space than I was used to.  The Gros Ventre River is nearby, so you can go for a stroll and sit by the river to cool off (Summertime) and  enjoy the view.  The crew that maintained the grounds were awesome and informative and I will definitely will be staying there on my way to Glacier National Park next month.

Great Campground 20ish minutes from Jenny Lake

Great campground to spend a couple of nights near the grand Tetons. Woke up to a moose right outside our camper. Since it is a little drive from the park it is the last campground to fill up but even with about 400 sites it was still full by late morning. First come but check in was very smooth and sites were plenty big for even the large rv’s. We have a 13’ ft scamp so size isn’t a issue for us but it is nice to have so much room.

This year, everything is different. It’s off-season, but I still had to wait at 9 AM, for about an hour in a line of 20 cars to get a spot What a gem! But it’s a big campground, so the wait was worth it and I stayed for two days. The sites are very close together, so you don’t have privacy, but folks seem to be very respectful and friendly. You can also have a fire in the fire pit, and it’s outside of the park with excellent views, and access to the national forest easily. Some nearby views below. 

Great, but the wait! 

This campground is wonderful b/c of the access to fishing and the Gros Ventre river.  You can hear the river at night while sleeping, and you only have to walk a short distance to access the river.  

Other great qualities include its short driving distance to town, as well as being within and close to other fantastic national parks.  The wildlife is wonderful too-we often had moose walking right through the campground. 

The campground also has clean bathrooms and helpful employees.

Expect the campground to be busy b/c of its location-access to Yellowstone, Jackson, fishing, etc.  There was a long line of RV's and vehicles every day, as early as 5 or 6am, to check in.

Also, the campsites are not private, and are very close together.  

We loved it though, and our Siberian Husky Finn loved being there.

Get here early if you want a spot even between 9-11am is best time. Otherwise you might not have one. Check out is not until 11am. We were here with 2 40" and a 30'. First time we stayed in the parking lot amphitheater- which is ok. That's where you see the moose and we did. You have no water or electric, but there is a dump station and they do not charge to dump. Located right outside of Jackson and the tetons and on the snake river about 5 min up the road. At $33 a night it's a good spot, for a few nights. You can run your generators from 8am÷10pm. There is a section that has electric only and a few HUGE ADA sites. All asphalt and all for the most part level. 

Moose

This was the first place I ever camped in Wyoming and I’ve been back three times since! The views are amazing. The drive to the site is kind of rough but it’s definitely worth it. 

My favorite campsite 

We tried to snag a BLM spot, but didn't make it in time.  Many of the campgrounds in the area book up fairly fast in the mornings.  However, we heard Gros Ventre normally has spots because of the size of the campground - something like 300 spots.  It's a big campground that could feel impersonal, but there are many spots facing the Tetons that feel a little more "personal".  It's really well located - super easy distance to Grand Teton National Park and the town of Jackson.   What it lacked in "character" was made up in ease of use and central location.  Also, perfectly located on the way towards Yellowstone if you are planning to do both parks in one trip.

Easy to score a spot and close to Teton National Park and town of Jackson

This campsite is easily accessible if you plan to stay in the south end of the park. It’s a short drive from both Jackson and the South Entrance. The camp itself offers all the essential amenities with beautiful vistas. I for one wish the camp wasn’t placed directly behind a hill blocking just about the entirety of the Tetons. The fact that the tops Peak out from behind the hillside makes up for it though. Pro tip: wake up early to see the Tetons light up a fiery red!

We stayed three nights here. Toilets were clean but older. Spots were spread out so you had the illusion of privacy. A little far from the things I wanted to do in the park, but it was okay so that we didn’t have to stay in a campground that I looked out my window into another camper. 

Big campground, plenty of space

Able to get a last minute cancelation and book 2 nonconsecutive nights. Great location to south entrance of Grand Tetons National Park.  Sites are level and paved. Paths from camp site are available to restroom (no showers).

Also, good proximity to Jackson, WY.

We reserved a spot here for insurance purposes in our visit to the Grand Tetons. A pretty developed campground with all your necessities minus showers.  Honestly, this place wasnt much for us.  Not sure why they decided to put a campground in front of a hill that blocks the view of the Grand Tetons. It's a great place for family camping and whatnot but pretty spendy. 

Campground was very clean with a freshly paved drive and parking spot. Our spot was full sun but we didn't get there until 9 so that wasn't an issue. Clean bathrooms with flush toikets. Fire pit with food away grill grates. Neighbors were fairly close and not much privacy at this particular site. Close to Jackson and the South entrance to Grand Teton. Also saw a couple moose on the way in. Good overall experience.

We spent three nights in the camp grounds.  Tent site was not drive in so we could not use our car awning on this site .  However it had sun in the morning and good shade in the afternoon.  Camp ground was busy but quiet at night.  Close to the Moose WY park entrance and Morman row.    Bathrooms clean and efficient check in.    Not too far from Jackson. 

Gros Venture - Grand Tetons

This campsite was so convenient. We stayed two nights and were able to go everywhere in the park. A great home base

Perfect spot

This campground has a range of options from tent only to full hookup, even though those were reserved for employees.  We enjoyed that this campground was off from the main attractions of GTNP.  It was also closet to Jackson for town amenities.  We booked here due to reviews about moose sightings.  We didn't see any moose in the campground but we had good luck at some over looks near the campground.  It was right next to the Gros Ventre river which was a good spot for fly fishing.  There were no showers.  No hiking trails near the campground.  It was quiet during our visit even though it was full every night.  Sites parking varies dramatically from site to site.

Well, 2021 a little different this year because everyone is camping…. Now reservations are required. The CG is spacious. Now, you make sure you know how to maneuver your rig in small sites.  Otherwise this CG is quite nice. 

Ventra

Went there as a home base to explore the grand Tetons. The host volunteers were awesome. Very booked for September but never felt crowded   Bathrooms clean. Moose near our site every morning

This is a large campground that feels private.  We were in loop D, no generators allowed with electrical hookups.  We had great views but not of the Tetons.  Moose frequent that area and was fun to admire (from a distance).  Biking in and near the campground is fun.  Bathrooms are plenty and clean.  Short walk to the river for fishing was fun and beautiful.  Site was large.  Dump station was busy but clean.  Loved it here!  Will be back.

This is one of my favorite campgrounds in the Tetons. The location is hard to beat with moose frequenting the area. The sites are level, large, and fairly spread out. The bathrooms are in need of some serious updates but at least there is running water. I had good service with Verizon

Let me start by saying I hated the overall vibe in Grand Teton NP. People were selfish, pushy, rude. Everything was set up there for the most selfish to win. We came here after a stay at Yellowstone and thought we would try our hand at a small first-come-first-serve campground. We woke up at like 2 in the morning and got to a wait and frenzy kind of weirdness where people just wasted gas driving in circles to rush to the first spot they could find someone leaving. I wanted nothing to do with that so we left and started looking at other options. We pulled into Gros Ventre and they still had spots, thank goodness. 

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Our site was awesome with a path back to a quieter area for the tent. A staffer told us to watch for a moose cow and baby that had been oft seen lately, but I never did see them. Excpet I MIGHT have seen moose legs through the open flap of our tent haha.

You can walk to the river and there are endless stones to practice skipping. There's a better local vibe in this campground that is way better than the rest of the park. The bathrooms are nice - flush toilets and running water. No showers. A flushing drain for your dish water. Bear boxes for each site.

Great Campground!

Very pleased with this campground. Some sites had nice views. We had a back-in site that was facing the Gros Ventre wilderness. It was fun to see mule deer hanging out behind our site. We actually saw moose daily near the entrance. This site was an easy drive to many of the best places to visit in Grand Teton, and wasn’t too bad of a basecamp for a visit into Yellowstone, although, if we did it over again, we would’ve relocated closer to Yellowstone for that part of our trip. The campground bathrooms were plumbed, very clean and stocked with TP, paper towels, hand soap. No showers at all on this campground. No water hookup at site, so if you’re in an RV plan to fill at the entrance. Dump station is limited to 40ish dumps for the whole campground per day so you have to reserve in advance for the days you plan to dump with the office.  This is a reservation only campground currently and is not first come first serve. Reservation process was very easy online. When we booked in advance there were plenty of sites but it was quite full once we were there so I don’t recommend waiting too late before you book. 
Fun things to see, be sure to check out Moose-Wilson road if it’s not closed for the season when you visit. Jackson Hole is a fun touristy downtown scene when you’re ready to get out of the wilderness for a bit. Jenny Lake had the best views of Grand Teton. 

Great basecamp for Jackson & Teton

Stayed here for two nights just prior to Memorial day. The campsite itself was ok, a bit close to neighbors but that's ok. The issues I had were the picnic table was probably 20 years old and falling apart. The fire pit had a lot of half burned logs and ashes. While walking my dog he was attacked by two off-leash dogs which was no fun of course but no harm just a good scare for everyone thanks to irresponsible dog owners however I saw more than a few loose dogs and no enforcement of the dog rules which always sucks as a responsible owner myself since this is exactly why dog rules have become more strict than ever. Anyway, had a generally OK experience here but for the price I expect better.

I car camped here with a friend while we fished and explored Grand Teton. 

The campground is tucked into bunches of cottonwood trees and sage brush. The sites offer little cover between spots, so you will see your neighbors. 

Sites closer to the access road have great views of the Tetons but the ones in the middle of the loops are less scenic. 

Each site has the basics needed with a fire ring, a picnic table, and a large bear box. 

Facilities were clean and the staff was friendly. 

This campground wins for me as a functional campsite with easy access to the attractions of the southern end of the park, and a fast trip to Jackson. 

The tent sites at least for D are quite small. I would avoid site 172 in loop D (where we stayed) as it’s situated right next to the bathroom and the lights hit the tent site all night. 

Great campground with easy access to Jackson and South Grand Teton

If you have a vehicle or bikes you will love this campground. We got to see a moose right in the campground! It’s a great place and central to Jackson and Jenny Lake if you are looking to stay in Tetons for more than a day or so, this is your spot!

Lovely place to set up camp 

We stayed one night--- one night too many. The campground has not been engineered to best advantage under the magnificent stand of cottonwoods. It's haphazard to say the least.

This campground is a mess--- situated in tall grass and undergrowth

We stayed here for two nights in two different sites (bc they were fully booked). Around check out time (11am), we stopped by our new site, saw that our reservation had been added to the post and that it looked cleaned out. We dropped our (very small) teardrop camper just in the gravel drive. As we were leaving we mentioned this to staff, and the registration person made a big stink about not allowing “early check in”, and that we needed to move our camper out until 12 so the site could be “cleaned”.  Then we were told we had to be back before 6 for check in. Not the end of the world, but dude. Calm down. Often a campground will accommodate you an just an hour if you’re leaving for the whole day etc. It was pretty arbitrary. 
When we returned in the evening, we discovered our new site WAS the trail to the bathroom for much of F loop. 5 different people walked between our camper and us at our fire to get water or go to the bathroom. One guy remarked that it was “crazy that the campground made trails through sites”… but that’s not how trails are made. Not the campground’s fault people have difficulty navigating roads and privacy, but really an atrocious site nonetheless. One of those sites where the moon is eclipsed by the 24 hour bathroom lights and the frogs by farts. Wish there were more of those $20 National Park Service options. Xanterra and GTLC charge $46 for a horrible site. We’ve stayed at Jenny, Lizard, Colter, and Signal, and Gros was the bottom
rung. Also, it’s not nearly at proximate to the NP stuff, but charges a lot. The weed whacker fellow takes quiet hours literally, and gets that thing cranking at 8:15am. I’m sure there are some nice sites, but ours was awful, and for the price, too far away and… just kind of bad. If you have the luxury of options while booking, Lizard and Signal were our favorites. 

Toilet Trail

For being a large campground we were pleasantly surprised by the tranquility of this location. Located in the southern section of the Grand Teton NP it provides easy access to the park and Jackson Hole. Sites are well spaced. Bathrooms clean. Depending on the location of your site the bathroom may be quite a walk away. 

Peaceful campground on the edge of the park

This campground is so nice! The bathrooms are old but nice- there are no showers. You can hear the river at night and you can also walk to river and cool off. The Tetons are right there. I also had a good time bird watching while there. Bear boxes are provided and I enjoyed using mine- nice to have extra space in the car while driving to places. Friendly staff and there seemed to be talks every night at the amphitheater. 

Beautiful Campground 

Great location for the campground, 10 minutes from Mormon Row, 20 minutes from Jackson, WY and Grand Teton National Park. We were placed in an ADA site that was concrete and level with 50/30/20 amp electrical ONLY. 

THERE IS NO WATER AT THE CAMPSITES!

We saw at least 5 groups setup camp then have to breakdown to take their RV to the front of the campsite to fill up at the one potable water faucet. It is across from the office and just past the dump stations. 

Also, when checking in, you must schedule the day you plan to dump your tanks. A volunteer came on the day of our departure and checked us off the list for reserved dumping that day. 

Wonderful location but a bit pricy considering only electric is at the sites.

Everyone was so kind and polite. We had multiple people comeover to our campsite to let us know where they had seen a moose and where they found the best extra firewood.

The campground is known for having moose wander up to tents and cars first thing in the morning so be careful!

This campground sits right outside Grand Teton National Park. It is a beautiful campground and quiet. I had a handicapped spot next to the bathroom and had electric hookups. No water at the site, no showers in the restroom area. There is a dump station on the way out - you have to reserve it.  Paths to walk your dogs, friendly staff. Picnic tables and fire rings at each site; they do sell firewood there. I was fortunate enough to be able to book a spot just a few weeks in advance during the busy summer season. Highly recommend this campground if you are visiting the Grand Tetons. 

Beautiful

We tent camped with 3 kids for 4 nights in July. It was amazing. A bit loud on the one night and no ranger coming through but the views and beauty outweigh the loud people.

Great spot close to town and entrance to park

We choose this campground vs other Grand Teton campgrounds because of its location\[closer to Jackson\] but also expecting to see wild animals. We did not see any wild animals in the campground but saw antelopes while driving Mormon Row and some moose while doing a bike ride from the campground. For those interested in biking, Grand Teton State Park has great bike trails. If looking for a quiet place to spend a few days this is a very good option.

We camped on the dispersed side of the park. There is a dump station and water fill. We woke up one morning very early to let the dogs out, and luckily we looked outside first because there were 4 or 5 moose right outside the camper door - It Was Amazing!!!

Non generator loops. Moose in campground.  F loop spaces are fairly far apart with some trees providing privacy.  This site is adjacent to the river, but many trees block view. Walk to river. 


Quiet 

What a great place to stay while you explore the Tetons. There are loops that let you use generators. If you are tenting, you may want to avoid those loops. It’s common to see wildlife in the campground. Be prepared to be Bear Aware.

We had a good spot in F loop, site 297. The river is only a short walk behind the site. Other sites were relatively far away and the bathroom is right there. 

Pleasant stay in Grand Teton

Good campground for a night....it was huge and busy, hosts were efficient.

Told you the rules and gave you a copy when you entered...limited septic system and could only allow 43 to dump a day so we jumped on the list. Warned us about bears, though we did not see any. Bathrooms were clean, no showers. Level spots.

Friendly staff! Gros Ventre means big belly in French. Super nice hookups water and electric but no sewer. One could sign up to reserve a dump time but there was a line up for that.  Steps away from the rv site was a piped bathroom   Allowed fire in fire pit  Park Rangers have nightly presentation in amphitheater. Short drive to Mormon row and Teton lovely view especially at sunset
