Off the beaten path campground

Quiet and peaceful in the rural setting, the Black Hills are just across the road. One loop of just a few campsites, we were the third to take a site. After we returned from exploring the Black Hills there were a few more campers. There are still a bunch available for the taking but by the time night was arriving there was only one left open.

Sites are large and well spaced out. We could sort of see our neighbors and hear them a bit but otherwise we felt alone. A few in the middle are a bit cramped but it’s your choice. The central vault toilet is well maintained. Note: no water is available here but the visitor center on the expressway is only a half hour away and you can fill up there if you need to. Bonus: they have free WiFi at the center too.

Devils Tower is less than 30 miles away. Roads go up into the Black Hills and we enjoyed walking them. This was a perfect spot for a quiet night.(we’re glad we had the screen room tent to keep the flies and bees away. There were just enough to be an annoyance.)
