Dash Point State Park Campground

Lots of water views and hiking - scope out the area if it's not crowded and get one of those sites.  Federal Way is nice and near, so you've got museums and zoos within the general vicinity too.  We liked the tall trees and that each site was different in size and shape.  As long as it's not PACKED, this is as nice as just about anything you'd find.  Yeah.

Really cute camp spot and play area!! Pet friendly and dog park! Went here on our trip to Tacoma north of the city. Very nice beach and area!! There's also a light house to check out while you are here!

Dash Point Beach

This is a cute campground, especially if you don't want to be too far from the city. I was impressed by how spread apart the sites were, I think they could have fit another in between each of them!

Great stay!

After flying into SeaTac late in the afternoon this campground was a great place to start our Washington trip and only about 30 minutes from the airport. Located within the Dash Point State Park, there are day use facilities in addition to the campground including an ampitheatre, beach access and lots of hiking trails. The campground itself is well appointed with spacious spots, although the sites aren't huge, they are wooded enough to provide decent privacy. Our site (#21) was right across from a trailhead that led down to the beach which made for a great sunset watching location, I would definitely recommend reserving a spot on the lower loop by the beach trail. The site has a paved parking pad, flat spots for a tent, a picnic table and a fire pit with a grill top. The bathrooms are easily accessed by wooded trails and kept quite clean. Even visiting during the middle of the high season the campground didn't feel crowded. Although unfortunately there was a bit of trash by the beach, the campground was quite clean altogether and I would definitely stay here again.

Dash Point State Park is your average, nice Washington State Park, with trees, grass, pathways etc. When we were there at the end of March, only about half the campground was open, and we were able to get a last-minute spot in the late afternoon on a Thursday. Sites are mid-sized, with some having more privacy than others.

**Cons:** While several other reviews talk of the cleanliness of the campground, we had the opposite experience, with large and small trash everywhere we walked (including a whole foam mattress thrown away). It was also pretty muddy, as well as loud (from the airplanes passing over head until the middle of the night).

**Pros:** Across the street, the day use area is amazing, with a lovely beach, picnic tables, hikes, etc. Generally a very nice place to spend the day.

**Tips:** Unless you're there with another group or family, avoid the spots that look like they're parallel on the map (9 &amp; 10; 15 &amp; 16 etc.) since they're basically one big site split up with two driveways right next to one another.

"Firstly, I just have to say what a positive and amazing experience I had at this campground. The volunteers were friendly, kind and absolutely awesome to interact with. Also, the camp was clean and beautifully laid out. I will definitely be camping here again the next time we go to Washington. I'm definitely impressed with how up to date and organized everything was around here. From the website updates to physical maintenance and upkeep - as close to perfection as we will ever get to as humans. I learned that volunteers are in high demand though so... I know what i want to do next summer!

Relax while on the edge of paradise.

This campground is hidden in the middle of a major Western Washington city, Federal Way. Once in the campground, you would have no idea that you are surrounded by a sprawling metropolitan area.

  

The campsites are small but private. They do allow for campfires but you should bring your own firewood. 

  

There is a trail that follows a creek down to the shoreline. If you are into geocaching we found a few along the trail. Depending on the season this trail can be quite muddy.

Hidden Gem

We were a bit disappointed when we got to our site you could tell the grass hasn’t been mowed or raked in a while and it was a bit muddy because of the rain but the muddy part is not their fault. Just part of it when camping.
We were going to stay 3 nights but ended up just staying two nights. 
There is a nice hike to a beach from the campground and it is beautiful.
Cell service is not good and the. Lowest grocery store is about 20 minutes away. 
The bathrooms were open and clean and the staff was friendly. 


Cool hikes but not well maintained 

It was very easy and convenient with bathrooms and picnic tables. The dogs were great and so was our 16 month old. Bring your own firewood. We forgot our so my husband had to run to the store, which isn’t far at all. The trail to the beach was so beautiful!

Dash Point was great for my 16 month old

We stayed one night, since I had made the reservation it was 40$. The campground is on the ither side of the street of the beach, sites are very private even though you see the neighbors. Lots of beautiful greenery, toilet and shower are clean. currently no wood fires allowed, so we took our propane grill. very safe, ranger drives loops regularly. Easy and quick check in.

Dash Point

We have a Camper van and stayed at a tent site.  Site 20 was private and had a trail to the restroom across path.  Convenient to Seattle, hot showers for a dollar, lots of clam diggers on the beach, family and dog friendly. Nice, helpful ranger.

Seattle in September (2020)

The campground was okay. A bit swampy when we were there in March, overgrown in parts, sparse in others, and not very well maintained. But it's relatively close to Seattle, which is great, and there's a nice day use area across the highway.  

  

Would only stay here again for its proximity to Seattle. Not somewhere I'd go out of my way to stop.

The beach is great but a long walk from camp and you have to drive and day use parking is usually packed.  The campground spaces were mostly very unlevel (the pull through spaces).  But the biggest deal was a TON of cars driving through at night and some people selling in their cars.  Not like campers but more like they live in their cars.  Transients.  And possible drug deals wit all the drive through late night park and leave traffic.  Not good. 

Ok if your passing through

Well maintain park. Spacious RV campsites and fairly private among the old growth trees. Trail to the beach was beautiful.

Very friendly folks at the check in station! Back in sites a bit narrow. If you are new to pulling a longer trailer recommend a pull through. 

Dash Point State Park

We went for just car camping. Clean camp sites and nice bathrooms. Wasn’t all that crowded, nice beach when the tide is out. Once the tide comes in the beach gets really small. Nice views too. 

Solid Camp Ground 

A bit of a tight squeeze to drive the trailer but the location was nice. Our spot was very uneven but livable. Showers are 25¢ a minute so be prepared. 15 minute walk to a great view of Puget Sound. We would visit again.

Great state park to go camping. Plenty of trails for hiking. Near the Puget Sound and very friendly staff. 

Dash point 

Beautiful campground. Very quiet. There was about 1.5 inches the first day of our stay, so the site was very muddy. Some other sites seemed to have more grass, so less mud. Site 19 had a lot of poison oak/ivy so you must be careful of that. Probably wouldn’t choose site 19 again. But the campground was very pretty and would recommend that campground again.

The sites are private and they are in the coastal forest across the street from the beach.  The sites and bathrooms are clean and they have coin operated showers.  There are also cool
hiking trails along the beach.  Friendly staff and civilization is close by if you need anything.

Beautiful, safe, lots of animals, paid showers, firewood for $8 exact cash, loop A is quieter as there’s no hookups, a short walk to the beach, trails into the forest, picnic tables and fire pits, quiet on the weekdays.

Safe and beautiful

 I would like tell you a few reasons why Dash Point made it a fantastic weekend for us.  The camping site had all hookups for our 22 ft. Trailer.  The park is close to Federal Way and Tacoma, but you wouldn't even know those cities were only minutes away.  We hiked to the Inlet and beach.  
My critique is if you have a larger vehicle then 22 ft. you may want a pull through space since the roads are a little narrow to back into.  No Verizon access, unsure about other services.   
We enjoyed our site and the camp ground.  

Dash Point Camping

Good size sites great access to the sound and still close to town. The only reason I have this site 4 instead of 5 Stars is that's its so close to the city. Great WiFi connection and cell signal. Great hiking trails and nice trail to the water no need to drive to it.
