## Overview

 With all campsites located near the shoreline of glacially carved Lake Quinault, visitors are sure to enjoy the beautiful shoreline and interpretive opportunities in the area. From old-growth trees in the surrounding rain forest to excellent fishing, Falls Creek Campground\'s location is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts.
## Recreation

 The forest features 10 miles of hiking trails and many waterfalls within walking distance of the campground. Lake Quinault is managed by the Quinault Indian Nation. As such, you must have a fishing permit and or boat permit through the Quinalt Indian Nation. Both may be purchased through local merchants. Lake Quinault Lodge offers boat and kayak rentals as well as a number of interpretive tours.
## Facilities

 There are 31 campsites that can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs up to 16 feet in length, however no hook ups are provided. Some sites are in wooded areas and others are not; many of the sites have a view of the lake. The campground has a potable water system. The site also has a barrier-free flush toilet as well as several accessible camp and picnic sites. 3 day use picnic sites are located along the shoreline. A large covered shelter is located on the shore, which was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, it provides opportunities for large families or groups.
## Natural Features

 The forested slopes of Olympic National Park provide a scenic backdrop across Lake Quinault. Towering conifers including Sitka spruce, Douglas fir, western hemlock and western red cedar provide dense shade for this beautiful setting. The forest floor is covered with lush rain forest plants including moss, ferns, false lily-of-the-valley and oxalis. 
## Nearby Attractions

 Nearby, Lake Quinault Lodge and Rainforest Resort offers restaurants and gift shops. Short trails in the area include the Big Spruce Tree Trail, Forest Service Rainforest Nature Loop, Kestner Homestead Trail, and the Maple Glade Trail. Explore the ocean beaches close-by as well as the National Fish Hatchery. For a more adventuresome day, drive up the valley to hike along the rivers or climb the 4,200 ft. Colonel Bob Peak for expansive views of the mountains and valleys on a clear day.

Falls Creek Campground

Falls Creek was a beautiful site. It was close to the lake and the forest was extremely lush. Although it was close to the road it was quiet. Our site was a pretty good size, we managed to fit in 3 small tents and our bikes etc.

It was very beautiful being able to stay in a rainforest like this. There were also some hiking trails directly out of the campsite. Although we didn't go on any of them it was nice knowing that there was some there

In terms of amenities, it was relatively basic but it had everything that you needed. Not far was the Lodge for coffee/beer and Wifi plus some general stores to stock up on some basic food as well

Falls Creek - Lush!

Really love this camp ground! We're going back with the kids this month and planning on doing an annual camp trip here every year! Clean  beautiful water, quiet camp sites, inexpensive, and lots to do locally, hiking, waterfalls, swimming, beaches etc. 

The Woodards Trip

With Lake Quinault nearby and the rainforest literally across the road, you would have a hard time being depressed in this tiny campground. I however didn't care for the actual campground itself. It was tight. Very tight. I prefer a little more room but this just didn't cut it. The grounds itself fill up extremely fast so you may need reservations and not leave it to chance. The area that this is in however is absolutely amazing and one of the most unique areas in America!

Beautiful place!

Quick one night by the lake. Beautiful area. Enough sun to hike in the morning. Great bathrooms and huge private spots.

Rainy but gorgeous 

Beautifully located!! Right next to a creek in the middle of the woods, but yet just a short walk away from the edge of the lake. Mountains in the distance make this an ideal location. Facilites are adequate, kept relatively clean and will do the trick when you need to take a quick shower. There are trees and bushes between campsites that feels very natural, and minimizes the feeling of how close the sites are to each other.

Awesome Site!!

Beautiful spots, some right on the lake. The campgrounds were clean, they had a clean bathroom, and bear safe garbage cans. The first spot we camped in (#8) was a short walk from the parking spot but felt more secluded. The second spot (#31) was a longer walk but totally worth it for the close walk to the lake.

This campsite is fairly similar to Willaby just further up the lake and closer to Quinault Lodge and the mercantile across the street. Great place to spend the weekend out on the south shore of Lake Quinault and has all the amenities (other than showers) that you could ever ask for while camping.

  

Saw a few water spouts and at least one vault toilet. It's a bit smaller than Willaby but it seems to have a few walk-in sites that were across a small bridge. You can also literally walk down to the Lake Quinault Lodge and mercantile if you forget anything which is always a plus!

  

Standard Forest Service fee of $25 a night and you can take your pick of spots that are close to the Lake or further back in the shade of the rainforest. There are a few trails that are within walking distance and plenty that are a drive further up the river valley including Graves Creek and North Fork Quinault. Definitely a great place to spend a few days!

Pretty Lakeside camping with a Beach!

Visited in August of 2019. I can't remember the site number, but it only has seven spacious sites.

If you're visiting Washington this is one of the prime areas to see as it is rich with rugged beauty. Winthrop is a fun tourist town but can get really crowded in the summer

A Thriftway grocery store and Ace Hardware outside of town have a good selection and reasonable prices. A camp store at Pearrygin Lake has ice and some supplies (when open).

  

There are no shortage of camping spots (mostly dispersed) in this area, we chose Falls Creek because there were some nice spots on the Chewuch River. The water was off and there was no trash pickup, but the larger Chewuch Campground up river had both.

The cold and shallow river was great for lounging in and I ran our boys up river so they could float down a few times. Below the campground Falls Creek feeds into it and the depth and flow increase. The river was easily accessible from several of the sites directly

Across the road is a short trail that leads to the surprisingly impressive Falls Creek Falls. The tumbling falls create a tiny oasis set dramatically against the rocks. There are a lot of unofficial trails around the area too and we climbed up a couple hundred feet to get a view of the river valley.

The campground is small and had no permanent host but one did come by daily to check on things.

The road is visible and traffic was common during the day but it was quiet at night. We only had one late night camper looking for spot.

  

Wildlife was mainly vocal squirrels and tiny field mice, some of whom tried to move into our minivan. Ravens and a hawk patrolled the area overhead but there were not a ton of birds. A few tiny fish but not a lot else in the river.

  

I would recommend driving down to NF-5140 about a mile below the campground and take it up into the hills. It is well maintained (largely paved) and provides you with some great views and spots for dispersed camping. There is a prime spot where the road crosses Falls Creek in a thicket of pines that I'll try and snag next time we're up in the area.

  

I will visit the falls again and would camp here if I didn't want to do dispersed, for river access it seems like one of the best of the developed campgrounds in the area.

Impressive Falls, River Access from Camp, Sweet Pines

This is a really nice little campground on the really nice Quinalt Lake.  Sites are not large, and are fairly close to the road (although it isn't really that busy)....but those minuses are offset by the location.  The lake is just fabulous and offers great swimming and paddling.  We were there at the end of March and all reservable sites were gone...there are a limited number of walk-in sites but those fill quickly.    There are a small handful of other campgrounds within a short drive and I'd rate this the best.

Small campground on an amazing lake

Cute little Campground, with immediate lakeside access.  Beautiful area to explore. There was a camp host present but not sure what she actually did, my neighbors had a tent set up in my site when I arrived at 4pm, they had to remove sleeping children from it, so it had been set up for a while. Then there was a group of women playing music until 4am. 

Beautiful area easy access to hiking

We camped here May 14, 2016 while in a month long camping trip in Washington. I especially like this campground as there is a short 1/4 mile paved hiking trail across the road that leads to a close up view of Falls Creek Falls. If you want a more strenuous hike, you can hike further up for more waterfalls. 

We camped in site #6 which we barely passed through with our pop up truck camper in a full-sized truck. The more spacious sites were already taken. The fee was $8 a night in 2016 and still is according to the USFS website. There was a vault toilet across from us and we had the usual fire pit/wooden picnic table as standard amenities. The Chewuch River roars right by the campground and you can hear it at night. 

This is a popular campground as it is located just upriver from Winthrop, a tourist town. We explored USFS road 51 and 5160 to the end at Thirty Mile where there is parking for horses and hikers who wish to further explore this part of the Okanagan National Forest. There are two other campgrounds, Chewuch and Camp Four further north. 

This is a beautiful area but a devastating wild fire came through here in 2001 where four firefighters lost their lives. It is now greening up again but the charred remains of trees remain.

We spent a night there during a bike camping trip around the Olympic Peninsula. We had not made a reservation hoping to get a walk-in site but all of them were occupied. We lucked out and got a tent site for a no-show reservation with the help of the camp host. The site was small but quite nice, just by a stream and close to the lake. I would go back but make sure we have a reservation.
