Ranger Review: Primus Profile Dual Stove at Hittle Bottom

Campground Review

We arrived late on a Saturday night to BLM campsites along Highway 128 all full (Moab Jeep Safari week). We stopped at Hittle Bottom to ask the camp host where she suggested we dispersed camp. Instead, she invited us to put our tent up behind her spot, in a secluded grove close to the river. Jan was the most gracious host, and even had a fire going for us when we arrived! She is the greatest. The campsite was nice with the cleanest pit toilets I've ever seen! The site is a bit far from the town of Moab but close to some killer hikes and views in the Castle Valley area.

Product Review

My old camp stove had gotten pretty nasty and started falling apart after cooking on it for over 20 people on a 4-day camping trip. This Primus stove is a lot sturdier and nicer. The side flaps are helpful in preventing wind, and the burner/grill combo is perfect for cooking with or without a campfire roaring. The connector hose for the propane is a bit tricky to hook into the stove, and its compartment under the grill grate is nice- but if there is a mess under the grill grate- it wouldn't be a good spot. Also, the hooks to keep the grill grate attached to the stove body sometimes get bent and are hard to get back to connect into the grill body. Other than those minor issues, the stove is powerful (boils water super quick) and sleek. It's lightweight, but still sturdy enough to hold a large pot of water.
