## Overview

 The four group sites at Gold Bar are located along the Colorado River and are ideal for large gatherings such as school groups or family reunions. Within close proximity to national parks and open space, outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy hiking, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, and four-wheel drive tours in the surrounding area. The town of Moab is approximately 15 minutes away and has dining, shopping, sports rentals, tour companies and museums. 
## Recreation

 There is a boat ramp located at Gold Bar giving access to the Colorado River. The group sites are close to the trailhead for Corona Arch and numerous hiking and four-wheel drive roads. Both Arches and Canyonlands National Parks are nearby.
## Facilities

 Group areas have fire grates, picnic tables, vault toilets and sites A, B, and C have shade shelters. Site B has a hammock structure that can accomodate numerous hammocks. Site D does not have a shade shelter, but is ideal for groups with motorhomes. The group sites do not have water, dump stations or electric hook-ups. Trailer and RV Parking is limited as sites are meant for tent camping.

 The group sites at Gold Bar are located on the Colorado River and provide for striking views of the red rock canyons and mesas. 
## Nearby Attractions

 Scenic Highway 279 parallels the Colorado River. There are numerous opportunities for hiking, biking, rock climbing, and four-wheeling. Arches and Canyonlands National Parks and Dead Horse State Park are nearby as well as the Manti-La Sal National Forest and the La Sal Mountain Loop Road, which offer cooler temperatures. 
## Charges &amp; Cancellations

 Please contact the BLM Moab Field Office for assistance with changes and cancellations at 435-259-2100.\_\_ Changes You can make changes to a reservation through your online Recreation.gov user account any time prior to the arrival/first date of the reservation. There is a $10 change fee If you wish to change to dates entirely outside of the original reservation dates. There is no change fee if you wish to extend or shorten the original reservation dates as long as the changes include dates from the original reservation.\_\_\_\_ There is no change fee if you wish to change to another group site that is the same price with the same reservation dates within the Gold Bar area.\_\_\_\_ You cannot make changes to your reservation after the arrival/first day through your Recreation.gov account. However, the BLM Moab Field Office may be able to assist you, 435-259-2100.\_\_\_\_\_\_ For reservations with dates at the end of the available booking window (a.k.a. sliding window), you will not be able to make changes or cancellations until the site has been available to the general public for four days.\_\_\_\_ Cancellations Please cancel your reservation if you do not plan to use it. This opens highly sought-after campsites for others to reserve.\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ You can cancel your reservation online through your Recreation.gov user account or through the call center the (call center incurs an additional fee). You may also contact the BLM Moab Field Office for assistance. A $10 service fee will be withheld from any refund for a cancellation.\_\_\_\_ Late Cancellations\_\_ A late cancellation occurs less the 14 days before the arrival/first date of the reservation (a.k.a. cut-off window). Late cancellations will incur a $10.00 service fee AND forfeit the first night\'s use fee.\_\_ Early Departures If you spend at least one night and then leave prior to the scheduled departure check-out date, please contact the BLM Moab Field Office (435-259-2100) to open the remaining nights for others to use. You will not be able to cancel these nights through your Recreation.gov account. You will be eligible for a partial refund of the nights AFTER you depart that you did not use. If you depart after the facility check-out time, you will not be eligible for a refund for that night\_\_ No-Shows A No Show occurs if you do not arrive at your campsite or cancel your reservation by check-out time (Noon) on the day after the scheduled arrival date. Staff will hold a campsite until check-out time (Noon) on the day following the arrival date.\_\_ No-shows are assessed a $20.00 Recreation.gov service fee and forfeit the first night\_\_\_s recreation fee.\_\_ Refunds You can submit a refund request through your Recreation.gov account within 7 days of the departure/end date of your reservation. Applicable fees, such as the Recreation.gov reservation fees, service/cancellation fees, lottery application fees, and change fees, are non-refundable. Refunds cannot be issued to any card other than the one used to pay.\_\_ In the event of an emergency closure, all fees will be refunded. Attempts will be made to notify you using the contact information within your Recreation.gov customer profile. Interagency Pass Discounts Interagency Pass discounts do not apply to group campsite reservations.

Gold Bar Group Sites

The camping sites are all a decent size, and the trees and brush add some shade and privacy between sites. The canyon provides shade for the campground for at least two and a half hours after sunrise. Each site has space for at least two parking spots. 

Access to the Colorado River is within walking distance of the campsite. People were swimming to the sandbar across the river.  Corona Arch trailhead is right across the highway. More trailheads and petroglyphs nearby. A short drive from Moab and the Parks. 

Only downside was the noise from the highway, but it isn’t very busy. There’s practically no nighttime traffic. 

Good Vibes, Great Location

Like other reviewers said it is not a great campsite per session, but it is on the river. Great trail right across the road to Corona Arch--really a fantastic hike! We would recommend this for a cheaper camping option close to the national parks and great hiking.

On the river

These campgrounds are right on the colorado river in moab. They all have a fee to stay depending on which campsite you pick. Which seems to be the case with most campgrounds in the area. There is isnt any water but there is out house restrooms. The Corona arch trail is right across the street so easy access to the trailhead and waking up to the colorado river is beautiful! 

Colorado River 

This campground was an interesting little campground. When we looked at the listing to find it, it said there were four sites available and we were taking 10 people total. 7 high school students and 3 adults. We knew based off of the BLM site that we were allowed to have 10 people and two vehicles, we had just one big vehicle. No where on the BLM site does it say there is a tent limit, at least that we found. We did get hollered at by the camp host (another campground away) that we had too many tents. So, although the BLM site does not restrict tents, they say you can only have four. She also told us to use the group site at $25 plus $5 a head but that price is so far off that it's laughable.

Anyway, there are 9 sites in the main campground, priced at $20 a site. There are 4 group sites, they range from $130 a night to $250 a night. They can accommodate anywhere from 30 to 90 people per site and 10 vehicles per site. There are no hookups or electric at any of the sites. There are toilets at each of the campgrounds (individual and group). Our group said they were pretty smelly, I went up to the bathrooms that are at the bottom of Corona Arch and those were very clean, lacked a smell and had hand sanitizer in them. The doors were finicky and our students claimed they didn't lock so apparently they are too complicated for high school students.

We stayed in the individual (ten person capacity sties). The sites were clean, spacious and depending on the site you were in, shaded in spots. Some are right out by the highway and those are less desirable. We had a picnic table and a large fire pit.

This was a field trip for our high school kids so we were happy that there were things to do very close. Corona Arch is just across the street. It's about a mile and a half in, so 3 miles round trip. The beginning is really the roughest part. After the tracks, it flattens out a bit and it's mostly just flat rock. This hike allowed us to do a little geocaching, although we only found one of the two on the trail. The arch is magnificent! It's absolutely huge. There are a couple spots of the hike where you need to escape your comfort zone if you aren't fond of heights. There is a steel rope that you climb with foot holes and also a short ladder, maybe 6 feet tall. The rest is pretty smooth sailing. The kids enjoyed the echo at the arch.

Another spot, just about half a mile from the campground is another hike. It's a bit strange at first, you go through what looks like a drainage tunnel of sorts. You get through and I think we were supposed to take a trail up but we missed it and went the flat route towards our geocache. Saw some really nice water holes, not sure if you can swim in them but they seem pretty deep. The official trail is supposed to be 4 miles round trip, but we did not find that trail.

Of course the campground is right on the Colorado River and there are boat ramps at the group sites. The river seemed a bit low in these spots but we did not get in.

After preparing our food we were able to play some frisbee in the roadway for the campground. There wasn't a lot of vehicles that came through so they rarely had to move out of the way. They did a little ultimate as well. If they had had a football or baseball and glove, they could have enjoyed that too. The space was there. The terrain was a little rough but that didn't stop them. They had a blast.

The road in from Moab had petroglyphs and lots of climbers. Temps were about 70 during the day and cold at night, supposed to be 50 ish but it seemed cold. Day temps were almost too hot for the hiking but still tolerable.

Over all the campground was enjoyable and I would take a group back again.

Not remote but surrounded by scenery

Great side on the Colorado, just a few miles from Canyonlands and Arches. Even on a busy weekend there was still space to be found at this campground.
There’s a nice hike at the trailhead across the street, and I saw a few rafts put in at the nearby boat ramp.
On the way in, there’s plenty of opportunity to climb, and a nice trail to see rock art and dinosaur tracks. 

So much to see nearby

Camped here last weekend while visiting Moab. I was really impressed by the cleanliness of these sites and how well laid out they were. Each site had plenty of parking, a good fire ring, and best of all, plenty of shade for tent spots! Really appreciated in the hot desert days. Access to the nearby river was so awesome, we had fun walking around on the sand flats. Would like to come back in the middle of summer and float this calm section of the river! 

Campground also had great proximity to the rock climbing at "Wall Street" and the popular Corona Arch trailhead, right across the street from the campground.

Gorgeous riverside camping

Lovely area, access to the river. Beautiful rocks all around us. Super close access to the Corona arch hike. $20 per night, bathroom, and trash at the adjacent group site. Our site was not on the river side, but the sites on the river side had direct access and some tree/shrub cover. The back sites can get to the river at the boat launch  at the group site and you won’t have to walk through anyone’s site. 

Beautiful area

Love this spot! It was right on the river and across the road from some great hikes. If you walk into the group site area there is a beach access to the river (which provides some pretty sweet views while paddle boarding.) 

There were clean bathrooms and the site was only about 15-20 minutes from town. Even though it was close to town there was no cell service.

Our family does stays here every year!! No power hook ups and no Cell service!! Good place to disconnect.

Gold Bar

Really easy to find and to get into, easy to get to town, easy to get to so many great hikes and other activities- location was amazing.  Absolutely beautiful scenery, stunning cliffs and rock formations in every direction and the site backs onto the colorado River.  Corona arch trailhead is literally across the street.  Sites were clean and well maintained, same with restroom facilities.  Unfortunately no water/wells.  Not sure if it was just the weekend we were there or if that canyon is always crazy windy but prepare for wind.  We also struggled to stake down our tent as the ground is pretty much solid rock.  As long as you can anchor your tent against the wind this is arguably the most beautiful campsite I have ever had the privilege of staying at.
