## Overview

 Cedar Canyon Campground is located conveniently close to Cedar City, Utah, only 11 miles east. Visitors can enjoy hiking, biking and day-tripping to nearby Cedar Breaks National Monument.
## Recreation

 Cedar Canyon is just 8 miles from Cedar Breaks National Monument, with hiking trails, guided tours and breathtaking scenery. Just outside Cedar Breaks is the Ashdown Gorge Wilderness Area, where hikers will find 10 miles of trails and the Twisted Forest, a stand of ancient bristlecone pine. The 34-mile Virgin River Rim Trail is located near the campground with a short drive for access and is open to hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding.
## Facilities

 The campground offers a small group site and several family sites. Vault toilets and drinking water are provided but no showers are available. Roads and spurs are paved. OHV/ATV\'s including street legal are not allowed in the campground. 
## Natural Features

 Crow Creek flows alongside the campground, which is settled on the western edge of the Colorado Plateau at an elevation of 8,100 feet. A forest of fir and aspen covers the site, providing shade in most campsites. 
## Nearby Attractions

 Cedar Canyon is close to many areas with excellent recreational opportunities. Navajo Lake and Duck Lake are both within 20 minutes, offering boating, canoeing and fishing. The Markagunt ATV Trail System is easily accessed 5 miles to the east. OHV\'s are not allowed in the campground.

Cedar Canyon

I’ve stayed at the campground many many times. It’s a nice escape from the summer heat. The sites are nicely separated compared to some of the other campgrounds up highway 14. Clean bathrooms with pit toilets. No cell reception (which I appreciate, but some might not). It is close to the highway and you hear cars going by all day. However, it’s quiets down at night. There’s a creek that runs through the campground too! 

Nice campground

Great location with a few different sets of single (8 people max) or double (16 people) sites.  The sites are spread out so you're not right up on each other and there are several vault toilets and potable water sites.

In a tent you'll probably still hear a bit of the road noise from 14, but try to be opposite and it's not too bad...

Good location for a quick rest if you're on a road trip and want to get back out and explore!

Nice and easy access

Campsite was HUGE! 12 kids, 8 adults, 5 cars, 2 nights. We set up 9 tents and there was still room for more. Vault toilets and 2 water spigots were a very short walk away. 2 big picnic tables. 1 other table near campfire. 1 campfire. I wish the site had its own water spigot. Near highway and near cute little creek. Zero cell service but no one seemed to notice. 15 minutes from Cedar City. 20 minutes from the lake for fishing and boating. No showers. Great time was had by all! Will definitely go back!

Huge Group Site!

Nice, peaceful spot in the National Forest. Not much in the way of amenities, just a toilet. Really liked the sites being more set back in the trees.

Quiet spot

Cedar City was 92F in July and this campground was 72F just 12mi away. What a relief from the heat on our road trip out West. Very clean facilities and awesome host. The road was a bit noisy during commuting hours but absolutely silent by nightfall. 

Dropped 20 degrees in 12 miles!

With the campground near Cedar Breaks, Brian Head, and Duck Creek, this campsite is a perfect getaway for your beginner to novice camper. This campground is very well-maintained. The public restroom (for sites 1-14) is clean, for the most part, but still a public restroom; with the convenience of a water spigot across the way. 

There is enough available sites for FCFS, but like any FCFS, we highly advise getting there very early in the AM. We got there around 8:00AM. Campsites are close in proximity, but far enough away to have your own private session. We stayed in Campsite 10, across the street was 9D (double-site against the mountain), which was fairy large and could accommodate up to 8+ people. Adjacent to us were campsites 8 and 11, see photos for distance between sites. Campsite 8, 10, 11 were against the main road, which had quite a bit of sound due to highway traffic. 

Ron was our wonderful camp host for the weekend. He brought a very cheerful, yet helpful/supportive, vibe to the whole campground. He occasionally cruised around the campsites, checking on everyone and ensuring everything was going well; which kept a very communal vibe throughout the weekend. Bring your camp hosts’ treats! Or at least share the love. It’s the least anyone could do to someone who brings great value to a campground. 

There was no firewood available for purchase at the campground, so we advise picking up some in Cedar City (which is closely convenient, 30min away). ACE hardware was where we were able to obtain good dry firewood at a decent price. 

Perfect campground for families and groups of friends looking to have a great time in beautiful Dixie National Forest.
