Located in the Colorado River canyon with shady walk-in tent sites near the popular Wall Street climbing area. Individual sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Jaycee Park Campground

We came to Moab with the hope of camping inside Arches National Park. This proved to be difficult as we found that all of the campsites we were looking at were non-reservable and filled up extremely fast. We ended up ay Jaycee and it was the perfect solution. The site is just off the side of the road but we didn't find the noise of cars driving by to be disturbing. The campsite is located right below massive rock formations so the scenery was great and we even found a little trail that leads to the rocks behind the campsite.

We stayed here two nights and my main complaints are 1) that there is no water available so we had to fill up in town and 2) The bathroom is a pit toilet (but this isn't uncommon for campsites).

The people here were friendly and the site ranger was present throughout the day making sure that everything was running smoothly.

Another perk is that Jaycee is very close to both Corona Arch and Arches NP so we had easy access to both. The site is also very close to some local swimming holes, we spent one afternoon cooling off at the Mill Creek swimming hole. The other recreational activity that Jaycee is extremely close to is Wall Street, a very popular climbing spot. We didn't partake in any climbing, but drove by many climbers just down the road from the site.

Campground Review: All walk in campground near the Colorado river next to the Wall Street climbing area. I really liked this spot despite its location to the road. There are 7 spots in total, they slightly vary in size. This is an all walk in campground, some spots are steps from the parking lot and others are about 100 feet or so. First com everest served, no reservations possible. Fee was $20 a night but can be reduced with a parks pass. One vault toilet and a large dumpster for trash. 

  

The spots themselves are typical. Fire ring and a picnic table. We stayed din spot two, it was a little more secluded from the rest but on had room for one tent. Other spots are able to accommodate up to 3 tents. For our few nights there the campground was quiet and once night fell the cars all but stopped. It ended up being a great spot. 

  

The campground is near climbing, river access, hiking (Corona Arch is just a few minute drive) and only a 10 minute drive into Moab. Overall it was a great spot, the only draw backs being so close to the road (unavoidable in that area) and the campsites being right on top of each other.

Product Review:

As a Ranger for The Dyrt, I get to test products from time to time. Today i tested the [Gregory Zulu 40 Backpack](https://www.gregorypacks.com/packs-bags/day-packs/zulu-40-1115ZUL40.html?dwvar_1115ZUL40_color=Mantis%20Green&amp;cgidmaster=zulu-jade#start=1). I decided on this pack for long day trips or over nights. It advertises as good fro short backpacking trips. I think this bag excels as a day trip bag, i think it would work for overnights as long as you pack light. The bag itself is really nice, i love the design and colors. The pockets are all well placed and its very spacious. In the interest of testing the bag, i decided to carry every thing for 2 people just to see how well this holds up. It did not disappoint. 

  

I had way more than enough room to carry extra clothes, water, snacks, camera and anything else we needed for two people. The bag opens via the top or can be opened by a front zipper. The zipper on the front is great for grabbing gear near the bottom of the bag. My favorite part about the bag, the included rain fly its own pocket. We didn't need to use it but we did get rained on and its great always having one just in case. 

  

Overall, great bag. I cant wait to give it a try on a backpacking trip!!

Ranger Review: Gregory Zulu 40 at Jaycee Park Campgroud

Easily on my my favorite sites. Tucked just off the road at the base of the canyon wall, there were maybe 2 other groups here keeping it very quite and private.

5 minutes from Arches

This cg was super convenient since we were 10 mins from Moab, Arches and just under an hour to Canyonlands. But because of that people seemed to be a little less aware of campground etiquette. Toilets were clean. Sites are close together and we ended up in one basically in the middle of the campground the first night but there are ones further back that just weren’t available. Site is on the road so that can be loud. This is definitely a convenience campsite but there are trade offs because of it. Bring earplugs in case you end up here. Cool views though and close to popular climbing spot down the road
