## Overview

 Indian Boundary Recreation Area is the crown jewel of the South Zone of the Cherokee National Forest on the Tellico Ranger District. This family-oriented campground offers a swim beach and picnic area with grills and an accessible picnic pavilion, as well as a fantastic, 3.2-mile hiking and biking trail around the lake. Spectacular mountain views, glimpses of wildlife, and a peaceful setting await visitors who come to Indian Boundary.

 Opportunities abound for fishing, swimming, boating, wildlife viewing and scenic driving. Other popular activities include hiking and biking the trail around Indian Boundary Lake. The recreation area contains a swim beach, boat ramp, fishing pier, picnic area and volleyball court.

 The 87-site campground has electric hookups, water faucets throughout the campground, grills, picnic tables and lantern posts. ## Natural Features

 Indian Boundary Lake covers 96 acres at an elevation of 1,560 feet, and sits among hardwoods and pines. At the lake, visitors enjoy watching beaver that inhabit an adjacent pond, identifying several species of ducks and other waterfowl and trying their luck at catching bass, sunfish and catfish. The Cherokee National Forest is located in eastern Tennessee and stretches from Chattanooga to Bristol along the North Carolina border. The 650,000-acre swath of land is Tennessee\'s only national forest. It lies in the heart of the Southern Appalachians and is home to more than 20,000 species of plants and animals, as well as many rivers, creeks and lakes. Elevations range from 750 to 5,500 feet. 
## Nearby Attractions

 The campground is two miles off the Cherohala Skyway, a 43-mile National Scenic Byway that stretches from Tellico Plains, Tennessee, to Robbinsville, North Carolina. Bald River Falls on Tellico River Road 210 is a popular destination. The Pheasant Fields Fish Hatchery also on Tellico River is operated by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and is the rearing pools for the fish stocking program on Tellico River, Citico Creek, and the Green Cove Pond.

Beautiful place in the Cherokee National Forest

My family goes to Indian Boundary every year and we have pretty much my whole life. There are restroom facilities with hot water showers. There’s a lake with a sandy area, and a beautiful mountain range to enjoy. It’s my favorite camping spot! 

This is one of the best maintained campgrounds I've been too. Beautiful area, quiet, clean and lots to do. We rented a couple of kayaks to play in the lake with, best idea ever. The campground store manager, Chad, was super nice and very helpful. Will definitely be going back!

Amazing area

This campground is truly a hidden gem. The grounds themselves are immaculate, the bathroom and showers are so clean they don't even smell like bathrooms. There are 4 loops and each loop has their own campground hosts, who do an amazing job. The lake area was just beautiful - grass all the way down to the clean, sandy beach and a very nice covered picnic area overlooking the lake. Bathrooms were clean here as well. The swim area was well marked and also very clean. The campground store was very well stocked and Chad, the owner,was just awesome. We rented 2 kayaks to play on the lake with and it was AWESOME. They also rent SUPs, corn-hole boards and sit in kayaks. The store also sells ice, firewood, camping equipment, food, drinks, fishing stuff, camp stoves, blow up beds, etc. His wife also makes and sells some AWESOME lotions and soaps. They DO NOT sell fishing licenses because they have no WI-fi, so better get it before you come. The nearest town is not much to write home about and honestly I think the store at the campground was more stocked. The campground itself was quiet when we were there but I imagine if full it could be a little busy. There's a 3.5 mile bike and hike trail that's graveled bit not paved, so a more aggressive tire is needed but all the loops are paved so its easier riding. There's a boat launch for boats with trailers (electric motor ONLY) and a nice fishing pier. Take a ride to Citico creek, its worth it!

Beautiful campground, Gorgeous Lake

By far one of the most beautiful campsites we have visited.    The surrounding mountains and water were breathtaking.  This camp ground is close to the water if you stay in loop A.  Just a short walk the water and beach.  Several hiking trails throughout the site and around the lake.  This is a perfect site for those who like to kayak and explore!  

Mountain Retreat 

Love this place. Nice lake. Hiking trail, beach, swimming, fishing. Nice bathrooms with showers. Camp store and best of all no cell service! Near falls and the skyway to dragon scenic route. Joyce Kilmer memorial forest has some huge trees about a mile in on a hike. 

Hidden gem

Indian Boundary is the first campground we took our son to when we got our pop up some 21 years ago. A couple of weeks ago we took another sweet boy we love  dearly for his first trip too! There's a bike trail, a lake for swimming and kayaking, a river nearby for crawdad hunting and hiking trails all around - this campground has something for everyone! 

We Start 'em Off Here

Indian-Boundary was a great campsite! It has above-average privacy on the campgrounds, solid electrical hookups (consistently pulled 80% rated amperage without hiccups), and the hosts were very helpful!

  

Service isn't available within the campgrounds, and requires about 10 minute drive to a scenic overlook for workable service. 

  

The beach is also very nice, has clear water, and where we spent most of our time.

Fantastic campgrounds, great beach, beautiful overlooks

This is the 3rd time I camped here.  It is very beautiful, almost right on the lake. The campground can be very crowded which is a little bit a downer. 
The campsites, except the overflow ones, have electricity, a picnic table, firepit, and a lantern pole. 
The bathrooms are extremely clean. There are super nice camp hosts and volunteers that make sure everything is top notch. 
One of the best things is the little campstore that sells t-shirts, food, and local goodies. If you forgot your chair, stove, or tent... they have it😊.
There is also a 3 mile trail around the lake which is flat and very scenic. 
If you want to swim, there is a beach area. You can also rent canoes to paddle the lake. 
If I would camp here again, it would be definitely during the week when it's a bit more empty. 


Beautiful campground 

The staff are super friendly at the camp store. They helped us stay up to date on the forecast since we were staying in a tent with two young children. Beautiful 3 mile loop around the lake is a great little hike/walk. Our 3y/o walked the whole thing. The campsites are level, spacious, and well maintained.  Bathrooms and dumpsters are close to all the sites.  The beach area is great with a beautiful Mountain View. Cannot stress how worth it staying here was.
