## Overview

 Trillium Lake Campground is a beautiful and popular campground not far from the quaint town of Government Camp. It provides spectacular views of majestic Mt. Hood, Oregon\'s highest point. The campground is well-known for its scenery and abundant recreational opportunities, as well as being a great, family-friendly place to camp.
## Recreation

 Boating, swimming and fishing are popular on 63-acre Trillium Lake. A small boat ramp is available within the campground and a larger ramp is available in the nearby day-use area. An accessible fishing pier is also available. Anglers cast for a variety of trout. The 2-mile Trillium Shoreline Trail circles the lake, and parts of it are accessible. Visitors also enjoy hiking and biking on other trails in the vicinity. Tours of the area\'s historical sites are also popular.
## Facilities

 The campground offers dozens of single and double sites for tent and RV camping. Some first-come, first-served sites are available, as well as some fully accessible sites. Parking surfaces are mostly paved, but some are gravel. Each site is equipped with a table and campfire ring with grill. Accessible vault toilets and drinking water are provided. An accessible picnic shelter is adjacent and can accommodate up to 30 people. Parking is available. An accessible amphitheater within the campground can be reserved for day use and can accommodate up to 30 people. Educational programs are held on weekends throughout the summer.
## Natural Features

 The campground is located about 40 miles southeast of Portland, in the Mt. Hood National Forest. It sits alongside Trillium Lake at an elevation of 3,600 feet, and is nestled in a shady, mixed conifer forest that provides privacy between campsites.

**Day 5/6 - Pacific North Quest (Mt. Hood)**

A classic camping spot with an amazing view of Mt. Hood across Trillium Lake. The campground is nestled deep in old growth forest with spacious sites and running water. The best feature though, is the easy access to the trails and fishing at Trillium Lake, and proximity to Mt. Hood.

From Trillium Lake we made the short drive up to Timberline Lodge where you can access the Palmer Glacier and the zones on the south side of Mt. Hood. On the first day we skinned up to Illumination Rock for some sunset turns and on second day we explored the natural terrain and build a jump at the top of Big Zigzag canyon.

Classic Camping, with a Great View of Mt. Hood 🏔

What a wonderful and peaceful place to spend few days in Mt. Hood Wilderness. It gets pretty busy, so make sure to make a reservation before you go. We only spent one night at the campground, and it was rather random, plan was to stay in a hotel in town, but once we got down to the Trillium Lake, we decided to get a spot and rough it in our rental car :) The views of Mt. Hood are just beyond amazing. The calm water of Trillium Lake is perfect for paddle boarding and kayaking. Lot's of people fished. Nice, quick trail takes you around the lake and brings you back to the campground. Calm and quiet, people seem to respect each other, and not make too much noise. Campsites are pretty nice, scattered among old pine trees, some more private than others. Several water faucets and vault toilets. I would definitely like to go back and spend more time in that serine location.

Beautiful Place to Camp 

Trillium doesn't even require any hiking. It really can't get any easier, and the photo payoff is amazing. Perfect for the lazies.

Primitive toilets available, trash facilities, boat dock for the un-motorized , well kept roads, picnic areas. 

We lucked into a beautiful site just off of the hiking path that goes around the lake. Without having a reservation during the busy season we were happy to have any site to camp. This is unsurprisingly a demanded location and one that we look forward to visiting again. 

The weather was warm during the day but the trees offered wonderful shade and the lake was available to swim or boat in. Our dog enjoyed walking into the water from the boat dock to get a refreshing sip and cool off her underside. A number of families were picnicking along the water at the tables that are offered there for day use/ campers. We had visited this area a few months prior to do a day hike and were intrigued by the look of the camping sites and the inviting lake - we were not let down. 

Because of the clear skies we were able to lay on the boat dock late at night with other campers and enjoy the view of the Milky Way. This was the first time that I had see this in person and I was not let down. Absolutely breathtaking. We look forward to camping here again and bringing our telescope with us!


Car camping and not quite Glamping 

The campsite was clean and private. Had a nice picnic table, a fire ring, and adequate space for a 6 man tent we set up. The outhouses were clean and the one we used smelled hardly at all. Close drinking water and a water dumping place for dish water, etc. A quick little walk to Trillium Lake. 

Great!!

I had a perfect spot right by the lake!  Nobody ended up staying in the sites near mine, which was kind of nice. Normally it tends to be on the busier side on the weekend. There are a lot of trails to hike on, and everything is kept pretty nice. The lake is absolutely beautiful in the morning. It becomes so still, and will reveal a perfect reflection of Mt.Hood. It really is a gorgeous place.

Peaceful 

Trillium lake is one of my favorite places near Mt.Hood to camp.

It does get full very quickly so you have to reserve ahead of time online. I have gotten lucky and snagged some unclaimed reservations by being patient, so it doesn't hurt to ask!

If you cant get a space, you can camp up the road in the airstrip. Its not super family friendly, but its free camping and designated spots all around.

Not far from Portland, nice campground, beautiful views, near other attractions. Can be busy.

Amazing Place

Amazing views! Trillium is such a amazing lake and there are a ton of activities to do. The lake was picturesque! The drive to it was amazing too which breathtaking views. Reservations are hard to get we booked at 6am, six months out and felt very lucky to get three spots for our family Campout. We did not get water front spots however well groomed wide trails to the water edge made it easy to take our toys down for the day. Make sure to plan in advance! Such peaceful place to sit down and relax, enjoy the view of Mt. Hood and click some great pictures. 1 con though - we had trouble locating restrooms there.

trillium Oregon 

This was my second trip up to trillium lake this summer. The view does not disappoint! The people who run the campsite are friendly and helpful. The sites are large and clean. Just know that there are no showers and only outhouses for bathrooms. Took some of our group members by surprise. Overall, great place to camp. We will be back next year!

Easy camping destination for groups! 

Really clean and well maintained campground. Trillium Lake gets a LOT of visitors so the campsites are hard to come by, but like USFS campgrounds there are usually some first-come-first-serve spots if you get there early enough. Look to book a site several months out. There is a boat ramp, and a trail around the lake, and nothing but gorgeous views of Mt Hood!

Average facilities, does fill up quickly if you do not reserve. We tested our luck and snagged the last spot, arrived around noon. It was quite buggy in June, but not to great annoyance. Lake was clean enough to swim, but definitely on the chilly side.

Located by the beautiful Trillium lake, the view from there is unreal.
Gets sold out really quickly, we were lucky to get there at 9am and reserve a spot at someone's site who was just checking out.

Nice campground. Nice trails around, fun on the water. Nice bathroom.  Busy busy.  That’s not really my scene.  But... Get up early to watch the Sunrise! That was the highlight!

Trillium Lake is easier and faster to get to than many of the other Mt. Hood Lakes, and with one of the best views of the mountain. It's a smaller area, and the day use area get pretty busy, so it's nice to have a campsite to get away from what can be pretty large crowds. Good lake for beginner kayakers as it is small, still, and doesn't allow motor traffic. There is also snow-shoeing here in the winter, but don't underestimate the sloped road you have to get down (and back-up) to get to the lake in the first place!

Very nice campgrounds, and of course a beautiful lake. Was a bit cloudy so couldn’t get a full view of mount hood which was a bummer but I will definitely be back!

We camped at Trillium Lake for a couple of nights.  The campground was clean and well maintained. We hiked the trail around the lake, easy walk a little over two miles....the layout of the grounds provides spacious camping spaces with easy access to the lake. During the summer it is very busy.  Bring your kayak and a fishing pole and you are set

Best view of Mt. Hood - Bring your camera

I was here on a rainy June day. Still lots of people in the day use area. the campground was half empty, even though it was booked up online. I had a pull through site, which was kind of ridiculous with my small van. 

  

Lots of woods. A beautiful lake. Great for kayaking or SUP. The hike around the lake is closed so you can't go all the way around. Very scenic place. Too much trash left around from day users, though.

Paved sites in a wooded area right on Trillium Lake! Even can walk the 2 mile path around the lake!

Nice Quiet and Wooded

This location has comfortable camping sites. The biggest draw is the most beautiful reflection of Mt. Hood across the river. There is a trail that goes along the edge of river along the shoreline close to the sites. During the day it is heavily trafficked but peaceful as the evening starts.

Amazing!!

Campground on Trillium Lake at the base of Mt Hood in the Mt Hood National Forest.  Awesome tent sites among towering fir trees.  Lake for paddle boarding, kayaking or canoeing (nothing motorized). Water and toilets and trash. No showers. Adequate cellular service. No Wi-Fi.  Amazing wooded experience with spectacular views of Mt Hood across the lake. Ducks and river otters. 

Trillium Lake Campground

Trillium Lake campground has the best location for Mt Hood views, hands down. The campground is quiet, not too many amenities(pit toilets, picnic table, fire pit). Camp sites are far enough apart for privacy which is always appreciated. We spent one night here, arriving early afternoon in hopes of snagging a first-come first-serve site- lucky us, they had a few available. They post the available sites on the information sign as you drive in. As we entered the campground we found the camp hosts and secured our spot for the night. One of the best parts of staying here is Trillium Lake itself- you can kayak, canoe, or stand-up paddle board on it. The views of Mt Hood reflected in the lake are stunning. I recommend doing the Trillium Lake Loop trail that goes around the entire lake(2 miles). At the time of our visit a section of the trail was closed but it wasn't well signed from the side we approached from, oops- something to watch out for in the near future.

Big sites with good amount of privacy. Little trail around the lake with easy access to put a paddle board in. Vault toilets and the usual water spigots.  Had a great Time can’t wait to go back
