As the only Oregon coast campground located in the midst of a city, Devil’s Lake Campground is the perfect base camp for exploring Lincoln City’s shopping, beaches and restaurants. D River State Recreation Site is just a 10 minute walk away, over a boardwalk through the wetland and across Hwy 101. 

While none of the campsites have a lake view, a wide trail leads to a fishing dock. Boat moorage docks are adjacent to the campground, but the campground does not have a boat launch; boaters must launch from one of the other access points.

Devil's Lake State Recreation Area

Devil's Lake State Park Rec Area Campground (it's a mouthful) is right on the edge of town. That is convenient if you're trying to access things in town. It really sucks if you're trying to actual "camp". This is a party spot for local ruffians, and an RV parking lot for people who want to get away without losing any sort of amenities whatsoever.  
  
The Hiker/Biker area is just a little patch of grass on a hill just inside the entrance to the left. The hill makes it hard to find any flat ground for a tent, and you are adjacent to a road to the north and a single family home to the east. The coast highway is a block to your west. Basically, it is a lawn. 

  

There is lake access but the lake is more of a pond. Ocean access is across the highway about 15 minute walk. You can also just walk into town for a beer if you want. Being so close to town makes it an easy place for people to go and get rowdy too. 

  

The camp hosts here have given up on enforcing any sort of rules in the park. There were people openly doing drugs. The site across from the host had a keg and set up speakers blasting some terrible classic rock. On a trip the the bathroom I saw the camp host looking out the window at the loudest site in camp, and then just pull his shade in the RV down. And not even joking, at one point a group (college age?) woke me up with shouting as they cheered on their friend who was getting laid in the tent. Another group was doing night skateboarding through the park in loops.

  

However, if you're just passing through you'll have everything you need to get through the night here including a hot shower, bike tools, and charging station. 

I gave this place two stars because the amenities are there. If based on my experience alone it would be zero, but I am sure there are days when it is fine.

Pro-Tip: If you're heading south stop at Big Mountain Coffee Roastery. It is decent, a little kitschy, and has AC/Wifi. Plus it is a very small, local business to support.

Welcome to Partytown. 

Great campground with lots of trees for privacy and the lake is lovely with lots of fingers that lead off the main lake so you can find solitude on the lake when fishing or just bobbing around. 

There are ten Yurts for rent so if you're not up for tent camping the yurts are nice. Note there is only one pet friendly yurt and it books up quick. 



Great spot close to Portland, a lake and the coast

This stay was nice and easy. Spots are close but for the most part have a sufficient buffer for privacy. We didn't have any neighbors with was great. Bathrooms were clean. We walked up and down the beach the majority of our stay. Even though the beach is cold in November it was beautiful!

Nice State Park Camp Ground

Bring your Mini and your two-man ultralight backpacking kit, because that’s what you’ll have room for at these cramped tent sites. Forget about a relaxing afternoon in your hammock - there won’t be trees at your site suitable for hanging, and if there are trees, they’ll be over a muddy blackberry patch separating you from your neighbors. And your neighbors will definitely be up swearing at each other across their campfire until 11, radio blaring from their truck stereo. Should you be lucky enough to fall asleep, there’s a good chance a fire engine on Highway 101, which is a hundred yards away, will shoot past at midnight to make sure you have a bad time.

The worst, worst, worst

the campsites are close together. I came in around 530pm on a Friday and left around 530am on a Saturday.

I’ve stayed here for one night a couple of times when on a road trip down to California. The bathrooms are really nice. The campsites are sizable and allow for some privacy. The staff and campsite host are friendly and helpful.

Oregon’s State Parks are really nice

The sites are covered in water and the lake is unusable with algae. The path to the Ocean is over 101 and about a 15-20 minute walk.
It is close to town though.
There is some kind of gun range that has started close by and is really loud.

We stay here because we can do some Rockhounding on the Lincoln City beaches. Despite being located in a busy Oregon Coast tourist town, it isn’t that noisy. It can flood in the fall and spring months, their rainy seasons. There is usually a camp host or two where you can get help or firewood. The sites aren’t that private although native Rhododendrons and others often divide the sites. What I like the best are the free hot showers and an outside sink to wash your dishes. There are standard (no hookups) and hookup sites with water, wastes water and power. There off season rates available for less cost. We paid $21 for a standard no hookup site the last time we were there in April, 2018. 

City camping in Lincoln City

If you love the beach and are too cheap for a motel, this is your place! 

You're not roughing it and won't feel too much privacy, a busy year round family friendly campground. The loop usually has walkers in the early AM and kids on bikes the rest of the day.  We've stayed here probably 6 times in the last two years and never had a complaint, even pregnant.

  

Devils Lake is right there next to you, the dock is lovely at sunrise and there is easy kayak access if you packed your banana boat. There are fish in that lake! 

If you don't have a kayak or boaty device there is a rental place across the lake... the name escapes me but it's the only one there so easy to spot.

  

Sites are large enough for two medium tents or one large, driveways even on tent sites will accommodate an RV if your in-laws arrive last minute in their Winnebago.

If you forget your coffee press, Dutch Bros is a 5 minute walk away and open early/late. 

Plenty of firewood for sale on site.  

  

Bathrooms are large and kept clean, the pathways are still navigable at night when you thought your cell phone would provide enough light. 

  

The campground is close enough that you can hear the ocean some nights though not always on account of the raccoon traffic coursing through the grounds. 

This should go without saying - but my younger brother had to learn the hard way, racoons can and will unzip your tent if you've got snacks inside. 

If you've got a curry in your tent, they will unzip your tent, pop that sucker open and express their disappointment by smearing little racoon curry paws all over the inside making your tent smell like and look like a diaper - this was a very educational trip for that brother.

Best way to stay in Lincoln City!

We have been to Devil's Lake many times.  We have tent camped in the summer and stayed in the yurts during winter break.  It's a great campground.

  

The entrance is right in Lincoln City, so you're close to lots of things to do as well as stores to shop at if you forgot any supplies.

  

There's both the ocean and the lake nearby so there is plenty of recreation opportunity.

  

The campground was closed at the height of the pandemic, but it is open for use again and filling up for summer.

  

Definitely recommend.

We love Devil's Lake

No lake views here, but there is access down a long point/dock for non motorized(kayaks) boats. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the campground was super clean. Best part was the No Generators rule!!! It is kinda loud as you are really close to the highway and on the edge of a busy town, but if you can get a tent site in the tent only area (towards the back with lots of trees) or a hookup site along the back, it’s not too bad. And you can hear the ocean.

We rented a yurt for the weekend and are so happy that we did! Comfortable, next to the restroom, clean, comfortable beds! Great family oriented park. Moorage docking area, just beautiful. 

Happy 4th of July

The campground is actually right in town, just a short drive off 101. The traffic can be loud, but it's a pretty nice campground. I had full hook ups with sewer, water and electric. 

  

The campground hosts were super nice and helpful. The lake can only be accessed from a dock. There is no shoreline in the campground. There's a day use area, but it's clear across on the other side of the lake. Hard to put canoes or kayaks in as there is no parking near the dock. You'd have to drive across to the other side of the lake.

  

I didn't use the restrooms. Some of the sites were closed due to flooding. Some of the tent sites looked super close to one another. My site was decent.

Close to Lincoln City

Campground was cozy and clean. Sites are packed in pretty close together but there is still a sense of privacy. Our spot was right in front of the bathrooms. We had toddlers with us, so this was actually nice. Bathrooms were spotless!!  My only complaint is that there is no way to swim in the lake. We came with this intention of swimming in the lake, but quickly found out the only lake access from the campground is from the boat docks. Still, the ocean and D river are close enough to make it worth while. 

Nice, but could be better

We love coming to Devil’s Lake! We can walk to the beach, take our kayaks out for a cruise, and go skiing or toobing on the lake. The restrooms are clean and showers hot. It’s an easy drive over from Portland. 

Close to Oregon beach!

This is a small park and the sites are pretty close together.  The campground is very clean and well maintained and full of wildlife.  We saw deer, ducks, geese, etc. all from our fire pit.  Location is super convenient to explore Lincoln city, the beach and the lake. Regatta park is about a mile away and has an awesome playground for kids.

For being kind of in the middle of town, this campground has all the nature you need. It's in a weird corner, squished between Hwy 101, Devil's Lake, and the ocean. But when you drive out you are right back in the middle of town. It was raining most of the weekend we were there, and our tent was squished in between two yurts (C31) that had big groups camping in them. But they were quiet. Many of the tent sites were closed because they were flooded from all of the recent rain. Our spot was a littles squishy in the table and fire pit area, but we stayed off that.

  

The bathroom was close, and had both a hot and a cold water knob! So many of these state park places just have the one push button and you get whatever temp comes out. So the showers and bathrooms are clean and roomy. 

  

I think you could technically have pizza delivered to your campsite here since it is so close to town. But I didn't try it.

We loved our stay here. Excellent location with the ability to access the lake, walk to the ocean, or just hang out on site. The sites can be a little tight but the use of hedges and trees creates a nice barrier between you and your neighbors. Would visit again.

Perfect Jump Off Point 

We've stayed here before and really enjoyed it. This time was another great trip. The campground is in Lincoln City but feels like you're in the woods. There is a huge lake on site and enough trees that you don't feel like Safeway is 10 minutes away. There were a lot of barking dogs in the campgrounds this time, but we were able to ignore them for the most part. Very kid friendly location and the spots are very clean and well managed. The bathroom/shower situation was clean and convenient. We love to get Tie-Dye Pizza and Jays Fish and Chips every time we're in town.
