Because of the time of year, it was very quiet. Nice lake view. Our site had a beautiful tree—Heritage Pear. Bathrooms are not convenient. It was quite the hike from the camping area.

Spent one night here. Pretty much right on the Tom Steed reservoir so fishing and boating is an option. Space was fairly level and had both electric and water. $25 per night. They do give a small senior discount. Standard park restrooms and showers. All the sites had picnic tables and firings. Great hiking trails nearby also. We were there on a weekend and it was pretty full.
GuideNice 4 day stop! Great place to walk the pups, enjoy the peace and quiet, and listen to the water and the wind. We stayed at Sandy Beach in site 001. It was a fantastic spot! Bathrooms were clean. Electric and water hookups were great, and the dump station was in good working order. Not many other guests were there. The staff was really nice on the phone. My only note for improvement is related to a good amount of litter in the bushes and some bottle tops and zip ties at our camp site. I'm sure it's hard for the staff to keep up with. If guests were more conscious of their trash, it would make the world a better place, but that can be said of many places.

Nice with many pull thru level sites. A few back ins. Wonder Lake view. Full hook ups. Shower house was a pay shower. Concrete patio areas with newer picnic tables and nice fire pits. Has a marina open seasonally. The soil is a red clayish dirt but the lake was clear. Has Frisbee Golf and a play ground. The play ground needs a bit of TLC. We are here in Sept and only two other campers here.

Everything that is said is spot on. Convenient for an overnight pull off when you are putting on the miles down the interstate. $12 per night, honor system. Electric was fine at our site. A bit confusing following Apple Maps in. Brough us in through the exit, late at night. Didnt find the pull throughs which were nicer, (fewer goat heads). Showers were too sketchy for me to indulge and that says something. Really nice city park for that morning or evening walk to get the kinks out.
GuideI booked a site at the Buffalo Bend Campground in Foss SP while traveling on Highway 40. The park is a little bit far from the highway but a pretty drive. We were in site BB002 which had decent privacy. Unfortunately, it was a very hot and humid day but we were pleasantly surprised by the air-conditioned bathrooms. I’ve been camping a lot, but that was a first! The area in Buffalo Bend did not have views of the lake and there was no breeze but the bathrooms had clean showers.
RangerOur April stay was great, used it as a base camp for the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge.
Our site was a pull thru with FHU. This time of year, the campground was maybe 33% full. Staff was great, the grounds are clean. Very windy at times, probably normal for the area. I'd stay again.
GuideWe stayed 2 nights in the Cedar Point section of this huge campground. Our site, CP003, had a great view of the lake and the gorgeous sunset over the lake. The sites were level, but offered no privacy due to the closeness of the sites and no vegetation coverage between them.
The bathhouse was quite a distance from the campsites. The showers were individual rooms with an adequate number of wall hooks to keep personals off the floor. The water flow in my shower was weak and lukewarm. My husband said that his shower was the best ever with very hot water and strong water flow! The bathhouse interior could use a new coat of paint.
The campground was well-maintained with plenty of open areas for activities, including disc golf.

Sites: I don’t particularly like the sites on the inside of the loops. Water view sites are circled on the map. I would be happy with these. Best sites in Loop A: 1, 2, 5, 10, 11, 13, 15. E63 is the only site I liked in the electric loop. A 7&9 are not good sites as far as privacy from each other.

The KOA was easy to find, easy to check in. The cell signal was good (AT&T) and the wi-fi was acceptable - about 8 MB dl speed and 1 MB upload. I was a ways away from the main building - site #52.
The restaurant / bar closed at 5 pm but it's February, so there's that. If you are looking for easy access and don't mind traffic noise it's fine. The sites aren't very large but plenty for my Jeep and Pop-up camper. They were nice and level.
The showers / restroom was very clean. I didn't make use of the laundry facility.
RangerAnd was the only person in the park that evening. Just a stop on a trip. Really nice campground with extensive trail system. You can hear lots of owls and coyotes at night. Not much to stop the wind but I'm not sure it gets very cold here either.
RangerThis is the equestrian campground and it has 17 miles of trails connected to it. There's both a number of spots for RVs and some beautiful spots down by the lake for tents. And the only one here almost nobody has driven through I can hear the road but pretty much have had the place to myself which has been very nice. The trail is really just a mode grass pack but you can bike on it and you can walk on it and there's some evidence of horses I'm not sure how much use this part of it gets. Bathrooms and showers are great and available I would definitely stop back again if I'm coming through this way.

This park was turned back over to the state in 2020 and is exactly how I remembered it from the 80’s. Tucked down in southwest Oklahoma in the Wichita Mountains, it’s a small park but has LOTS of options. There are RV and tent Campgrounds, cabins, a very modern lodge with 96 rooms, group pavilions, and a dormitory. There’s a full restaurant, ORV trails, hiking trails, a river and a lake. Something for everyone.
We stayed in the Mountain View campground which has concrete pads and didn’t have to level our rig at all. Electric and water and steps to the flush bathroom that has a shower in it. It backs up to the lake berm and has a view of one of the mountains. Not much cover but we didn’t need it as it was cloudy during our stay. LOTS of stickers. Beware especially if you have long haired dogs.

LegendDoris is in the middle of Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge, there is zero cell phone service but we got our Starlink to work perfectly. We stayed in 40c which had no hookups but was an enormous site with lots of privacy. Fairly level site, concrete table, huge fire pit and grill. Spots are very well maintained and this site backs up to Lake Quanah Parker. Little Baldy trail can be hiked directly from the campground. New shower and bathroom house.
100% will be back. Fantastic educational visitors center. You MUST drive up Mt Scott but it’s scary. Wonderful short hikes.
Free roaming bison, longhorns, wild Turkey, etc.

GuideIt was the only not free campsite we camped at on our two week trip with new sites every night. I have no complaints in any way shape or form about the camp so it 100% gets five stars from me. Only complaint is about the website and the map offered on the website. Completely unhelpful and poorly designed. In this time of technology that is accessible to everyone, you NEED to update your forums. But that’s enough from me. This was my second favorite campsite during my trip across nine states and fourteen campsites. And it’s definitely top three of all time.
GuideVery friendly staff made us feel right at home. We enjoyed dinner and drinks at the tavern and it was lovely. Clean bathrooms and laundry room. The pool was also great. The playground can use some updating.

LegendCamped in site 36, loop C, mid-May. Large campsite; lots of trees. Short path behind site leafs to Quanah Parker Lake. No connections. Water pump nearby; water was good quality. Restroom/shower house located at beginning of loop. Other restrooms were closed for renovation. The restroom/shower house is old & needs updating. Campsite was clean. Firewood available near campground entrance. Excellent hiking opportunities nearby. Separation between sites in this loop is good but little privacy. Campground host was friendly & helpful. Enjoyed staying in this old campground & exploring the refuge. Little to no AT&T and T-Mobile service.
