## Overview

 Cheoah Point Campground lies on a peninsula of the vast Lake Santeetlah in the hills of western North Carolina. The lake and surrounding landscape provide countless recreational opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts. 
## Recreation

 Anglers enjoy fishing for trout, walleye, a variety of bass, bream and crappie and more in the 2,800-acre Lake Santeetlah. Boating, canoeing, jet skiing and swimming are also popular activities on the lake. Nearby, the Wauchecha Bald Trail, which begins as a an easy hike and gets progressively more difficult, provides access to the famed Appalachian Trail. 
## Facilities

 The campground provides multiple open and wooded campsites that can accommodate up to 10 guests and 2 vehicles per site. Six RV sites provide 15/30/50 amp electrical hookups. Tables and campfire rings with grills are provided at each site. Flush toilets, hot showers and drinking water are provided to help create a comfortable camping experience.
## Natural Features

 Lake Santeetlah sits in the Nantahala National Forest, which covers 1.3 million acres of mountain lands. Old forests grace the hills and valleys, with some of the canyons reaching deep into the earth, providing ample hiking opportunities in the beautiful terrain. Cheoah Point is situated in a forest of mature hardwoods at an elevation of 1,760 feet. The campground covers steep terrain and many of the campsites overlook the lake.

 Great Smoky Mountains National Park is just a short distance away, offering an ideal day trip from Cheoah point Recreation Area.

\*FYI: This is in a dry country. My wife was disappointed.

The tent sites here are nice, clean and tucked away from the general RV spots, and the showers aren't bad as long as a couple daddy long legs in the corners don't freak you out. 

Here's the downside: just across the lake is the "town" of Lake Santeetlah, which consists of a bunch of vacation homes for a bunch of loud, rich assholes who love to blare their music over their massive, outdoor sound systems, and somehow manage to scream sing even louder. Listen, Karen and Larry, I really don't need to hear your awful, off-key rendition of "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" at 11pm on a Monday. Also, thanks for ruining "Ain't No Mountain High Enough".

Great tent sites; loud neighbourhood across lake

this place is great. nice grounds, big spaces, beautiful lake. we picked a spot way out on the tip of the point and had to carry our gear pretty far but it was well worth it. private and spacious and lake front. we hung hammocks over the water and floated all day on our tubes. i got really sick the day we arrived, remained that way for the entire trip and still had a great time. oh and they have showers ahhhhh.

The location is really beautiful. the tent sites are nice, especially the ones on the point. The rv sites are a bit small with no shade. Bathrooms were ok...not super clean and no soap, toilet paper etc. Wish there was better water access without having to leave the campground.

it's a small campground has 4 sites with power I stayed a 5 which is near bath house has a beach that u could ride a bike to. also has two cabins which is primative.

quite campground

This campground is in the beautiful Nantahala Forest. A very scenic drive and quite remote. Most of the sites are double sites so you’re essentially sharing a campsite with your neighbor. I was nervous having a fire because it was so close to the camper next to us! Lots of hikes in the area and very peaceful because it’s so remote. We have Verizon and we barely had one bar which meant we could barely send a text. The bathrooms are so-so because they were only cleaned once. Two of the bathroom doors didn’t lock and no toilet paper in one for several days(even after notifying the host).
