Got a walkup permit for a night for a couple of campsites to share with friends. Couldn't have planned a better camping trip if we'd tried. The sites are right on the beach with easy access for kayaking/paddleboarding/sunrise views over the lake. Well maintained without an overbearing host presence…

Love this camping area! Really private sites, clean facilities, and nice lake access. My only con is that the showers are automatic sensors, so when you need the water to warm up, you just have to stand there and take it. If you step out of the way of the sensor, the water stops. But otherwise,…
Sites are clean and well maintained, no issues with hookups. Facilities are not very well kept up an little to no Verizon service but overall a beautiful campground and lake for fishing.
Quick overnight stay; pad was large & easy to back into with our Cricket trailer- sites are nicely spaced apart (privacy). Airplanes fly overhead pretty regularly; seemed to stop in the late evening & start up early. Be prepared to pack you trash out of the park. Overall a nice spot!
Site was nice and level. Clean bathhouse. Water and electric only. Dump station.
Coopers is a clean well maintained park between Clayton and Garner. Just minutes from downtown Raleigh. All of their sites have both 30 and 50 amp service. They all also have both water and sewer. They offer both weekend and extended rental.
Nice big sites cut into the trees with pretty good privacy. Clean bathrooms and showers and easy access to the lake from most loops of the campground.
AT&T coverage was a couple bars, enough to get connected to email and check in with the rest of the world.
I live in Raleigh and use this campground if I need a place to work on the rig or staging before going out for months at a time. Full hookups are available at all sites and very convenient to downtown Raleigh. Check-in is simple and you can pick your own spot. Most weekends have a horse show…
This was a stop over stay for us as we headed towards the Smokies. Nice family oriented modern Campground. Very large sites, well shaded, paved and all the hook ups. None of the sites are located right on the lake. You either walk the trails or drive down.
We passed through here during our cross county travels. The staff was super helpful and nice. The lake was absolutely perfect for swimming and cooling off. We even got to see some bald eagles as we floated on the lake. The showers and bathrooms were clean and there was even hot water. The campsites…
We had site 17. Maintenance was’t very good there were bits of trash and sticks everywhere. The water comes on and then goes down to a trickle. There was a water junction box with water leaking down into the site so the bottom stays wet and muddy. The swimming beach has sharp roots sticking up out…
Great Stay for DOD associated members.
Playgrounds were phenomenal for kids. Bike and Hiking trails all through out the site. Fishing as well - with respective fishing license.
Staff was very receptive and the facilities were new right on the Smith Lake Beach. Beautiful. You can rent kayaks…

This was our "shakedown" trip with our new RV. We found the campground to be very accommodating: 30A/50A electrical, and clean water. The lake was just steps away from our site. We went mid-week, so the campground was not completely filled. The bath house was clean and had plenty of room.
