Loved this campground.

We stayed at J.C Cooper Campground at Satterwhite Point Area 2.

The site was near the water with very nice lake views right from the tent.

Great for swimming, kayaking, SUP, and other water activities.

The nearest grocery store (Food Lion) was about 15 minutes drive from our…

Nice spot on NC/VA Border

I've only camped here twice, both times on Memorial Day weekend. Our campground was in the JC Cooper campground area. I think that this isn't fair to this campground because each time its just been too dang busy. I assume that on a non holiday weekend it wouldn't be nearly as bad as when I've been.…

  • Electric/water site. Long enough for a big trailer.

Very small place

This is a place considered last resurse. Not many sites and most of that is the long time residents lives here. They have few spots fool hook-up

Great for families

We camped with a few other families at the group camp site. It was lovely. Great shade and perfect water for kids, the red mud is so much easier to wash off than sand! Bugs weren’t too bad. The electrical outlet was only in the bathroom which was a challenge but clean water was accessible all…

Being from Missouri and moved to North Carolina I spent a week here and it has been so far one of the best places for fishing.

Huge Lake, nice sites

We visited Kerr Lake State Rec Area, JC Cooper Campground, Loop 1, at Satterwhite Point in April and it was fully booked for the weekend.  The sites are beautiful. Many have direct views of Kerr Lake. Water and electric were good, maintenance was good.  There are State Park quality toilets and…

Beautiful views

We stayed at site 21 on the satterwater loop. It was a little steep for a roof top tent but we made do backing the truck in! The water was shockingly warm for October and the kids got their feet in! Highly recommend this area for families. A large field for the kids to run around play catch and a…

Closest RV sites to downtown Raleigh

We needed to stop in Raleigh for the night and stayed here. It's quiet and huge and full hookups for $30/night. Call the number when you get close and the attendant will meet you to show you to your spot. There are 30 and 50 amp spots. I went for a jog around the fairgrounds; it's sprawling.

Gorgeous Views

We were able to secure a spot right on the lake with a private sandy walk in. The area was gorgeous and the camping area was shaded. It IS on sand, so be prepared to clean out your tent afterwards. The spots are a little closer together than we like, but the private “beach” was amazing!

Campground with Roomy Sites by the Lake

Our campsite was roomy and by the lake although we did not have running water or electricity. However, we knew that in advance and were prepared for it. Since we were by a sandy beach, we could put our kayaks in right there at the campsite. The bath house was quite a walk from our campsite, but it…

  • Kerr Lake offers great opportunities for water activities, including kayaking.
  • With our campsite being beside the water, we didn't have to spend much time putting kayaks into the water.

Tons of waterfront sites

What a great last minute find for us. We stayed in the Nutbush section in our 37ft TT, water and electric, no sewer but dump station on site. Beautiful lakefront spot, went kayaking and swimming from our site, no need to walk to the "beach" or marina. This is a HUGE lake, and water activities rule…

Nice Campground

This campground has many waterfront sites with water and electric. Many of the sites go right down to the water with shallow, sandy areas great for folks of all ages. Some of those sites do tend to flood if the water level gets too high (just something to watch for). Many of the sites are quite…
