Lakeside State Park Campground

We stayed here 5/2019 on Loop C #30.  While we were right next to the bathroom,  we really weren't bothered by noise or traffic, and our site still felt quite private.   We could easily see Lake Ontario through the trees,  and the air was filled with the sound of birds.  The space between our site and the next was a bit muddy, but the sites themselves were dry.  Electric power is at every site,  and both 30 and 50 amp are available.   Pets are welcome in certain loops, and there is a well kept playground.   Staff were super friendly,  and there is a safety officer who patrols at night.  We checked in well after the office closed (it's open until 9pm), but called ahead and it wasn't an issue at all. Plenty of farm stands around, but grocery stores will take about 30 minutes to get to.  Definitely looking forward to staying again.

Roomy campsites. Many have views of Lake Ontario. It's real quiet there as most people fish or go visit tourist areas in nearby Niagara Falls. There are plenty of playgrounds for the kids and the roads are flat--perfect for bike riding. The only downside is that there is no beach but your pass gets you into Hamlin Beach State Park which DOES have a beach. This is one of my favorite campgrounds.

This campground had many large electric sites that sit overlooking Lake Ontario. All sites are back in only so you need skills in backing up if you are towing. Amenities include 18 hole frisbee golf, recreational hall, basketball court a camp store and a few playground areas. The closest large shopping area is approximately 30 minutes away (Brockport). There is No water access and no swimming allowed at this campground. No hammocks are allowed to be tied to the trees either.

it's a very nice park if you want to sit by the water but dont want to touch it. theres really not much of a beach if any at all. there is a decent cliff to get to the water. campsites are very open not much shade, trails are kept pretty nice so if your looking for something like that or a couple short trails and sit by the water this is for you

We wanted to have a nice camping experience in a quieter area, and this place delivered on that. It's located kind of in the middle of nowhere, on the bluffs above Lake Ontario. It's a nice drive on the Lake Ontario Parkway, which abruptly ends here at the park.

We have a dog, and only certain loops are dog friendly. We ended up in Loop D, Site 20\. All the other sites on the lake had been reserved, but 20 has a nice view of the water through the trees, and it's nicely sheltered from the wind. It is mostly packed gravel, which was sort of an issue for our tent (nice, gravelly area in the vestibule which wasn't that comfy) and for putting our dog on a tie out - the gravel basically kept us from using it, because we couldn't screw it into the ground.

We stayed on a Wednesday and Thursday night, which had some advantages (it was nice and quiet) and some disadvantages (the Camp Store is open from 3-8 Monday-Thurs, so we had to travel around the area to find firewood.)

There is no beach access here, but your reservation stub gives you access to Hamlin Beach State Park, which has a beach, and if you want to look at the 30-mile point lighthouse, you also get access to Golden Hill State Park.

There's a lot of nice paths to walk on, and mowed meadows with pretty views of the lake. There are playgrounds near each loop, and there's a fully functioning Camp Store, when it's open.

The shower/bathrooms are kinda old and could use an upgrade. They're perfectly functional, but the disabled one looked like it was in poor repair, and the stalls don't lock that well. I wasn't particularly worried about anyone running off with my stuff, but there's less privacy than other NYS campgrounds.

Overall, this is a nice, quiet park and a good place to hang out.

Pleasant Views, Needs Upgrades

We packed up our beach gear with excitement to be camping at a State Park with a beach. Boy were we all disappointed when we realized there was actually no established beach. You will see pictures of people on a beach, but its really misleading. To get to this tiny sand pit of a beach, you have to navigate down a rather large (probably 50’) steep embankment/cliff. There are no stairs or railings down to it.  We tried finding other possible beach access points. We did find a path by the store that brings you to the waters edge but it certainly wasn’t a beach (just a bunch of large rocks and seaweed). LOOPS A and D have some nice lake views.

A very large place! We biked around every where in the park, having exceptional weather for a couple days and a few refreshing rainy days! Lots of wildlife nearby and a vast view of Lake Ontario. A great north central location to camp…we visited friends in the cities nearby and were just over an hour away from touristy spots! The staff was friendly and accommodating, and park grounds were livened with a mindful upkeep.

We stayed here on our road trip and spent the day in Niagara Falls, about an hour away. Very quiet, clean bathrooms, and beautiful view of Lake Ontario.
