## Overview

 ATTENTION: Whitten Campground will be closed September 8, 2024 - February 1, 2025 for renovations. We are sorry for the incovenience, but hope you enjoy the park even more once work is completed. Whitten Park Campground attracts thousands of outdoor enthusiasts for picnicking, fishing and swimming on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway. Easy access to three boat docks, nature trails and a sandy swimming beach with a gazebo overlooking the waterway, make Whitten Park a welcoming destination for campers. Whitten Park is also referred to as Fulton Campground because of its location in Fulton, Mississippi.

 Anglers can try their luck on the fishing dock or go off-shore in search of bass and crappie. Hikers will enjoy many nature trails, which weave through wooded wildlife habitats.

 The campground offers 60 sites with electric and water hookups. The three camp loops provide easy access to playgrounds and showers. 
## Natural Features

 The Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway extends 234 miles from the Tennessee River to the junction of the Tombigbee River in Alabama. The man-made waterway connects the nation\'s midsection of commercial water transportation with the Gulf of Mexico. Features include ten lock and dams, Gainesville Lake, Aliceville Lake, Columbus Lake and Aberdeen Lake. 
## Nearby Attractions

 Tupelo, Mississippi, known as the birthplace of Elvis Presley, is 15 miles west.

Whitten Park Campground

We visited last weekend and the weather was quite humid and hot.   We rented site 11 and it provides more than we expected and it boasted in trees that created a canopy over the entire area.     The site was large and had its own fishing pier and I loved it since that was the reason we visited, caught several catfish and lost a few 8 plus pounders.   Definitely will return to partake in the trails and visit the museum.

We stayed 1 note but the RR's were clean,there were hiking trails and lots of space between most sites

On the water ..kinda

October 17=18, 2019. Site 40 (walk-up) had electric and water. Park had dump station, laundry room, clean restrooms with showers and flush toilets, Verizon 2 bars. See RV Camping Journal for more details.

Camping for our anniversary! Drinking morning coffee by this beautiful scenery was amazing!

Awesome!

Our 3/3/21-3/6/21 stay at Site 60 provides easy access to a fishing pier, walking paths and enjoyable sunsets. Sites are a comfortable size and located with adequate forrest canopy that provides shade for most. We enjoy several afternoon paddles on this stretch of river. 

Outside the campground entrance the Underground Railroad Bicycle Trail goes along the road and continues to the lock for walking and peddling.

A Tombigbee View

We stayed here passing through on a Thursday night. The campground was about half-full. Our site was next to the public beach, but it hadn’t opened for the season yet. The site was clean and tidy, and the view of the river was gorgeous at sunset. An occasional boat with loud exhaust went by before dark, but no other distractions besides that. The campground was nestled in the trees and made for a relaxing setting. I would definitely stay there again. 

Wooded, clean & quiet

Whitten Park campground is located on a peaceful waterway far enough from the highway to feel secluded but not difficult to access. Each site is surrounded by trees. Site 011 had a beautiful view on the water and was completely level. All sites are paved. The bathhouse is no frills but had hot water and good pressure. The laundry room was closed. Within walking distance is the Tenn-Tom trail along the waterfront great for walking, running or biking. Our family really enjoyed this campground.

Nice and quiet

Great campsite. Dollar general within 7 minutes. Area for swimming, fishing, playground (only down side is no shade at playground), and basketball park. Staff was SUPER friendly. 

Loved it

Spent one night here. Well filled campground on a Saturday night. Enough space to navigate an RV. Spots are fairly close to one another, but not so close as to be bothersome. Electric and water hook up included. Lady restrooms couldn’t be locked. 

Great proximity to the water and tons of fireflies at night. Enjoyed our time here very much!


Nice camp with hook ups 

We are spending a few weeks here as we wander around the country. Nice friendly staff. Cell Data a little challenging, using WeBoost for Visible, Verizon and ATT.  The t-mobile hotspot seems ok (3 meg upload, 50 meg download).

  

3 loops. Ours is a nice level spot, shaded. The others seem good, mostly having plenty of room for 5th wheel and truck. 50amp &amp; water &amp; dump station. We have not used facilities, so cannot comment on rest rooms. Laundry has 'closed' sign  

  

Nice cycling opportunity alongside the river up to the Fulton Locks.

Great peaceful place to unwind

There was a beautiful lake by the campground. The sites were clean. You have to take your garbage to the dumpsters when leaving. The bathroom and shower was awesome. There was an amazing bike trail that went along the water. 

Clean park and relaxed environment 

Stayed one night with reservation on line day prior. Can only reserve on-line.
Had a waterfront site for our 21 ft motorhome with water and electric hook up. Dump and trash station at a remote area.
Showers and bathroom were in good shape and resembled a rest stop.  
Park secured close at 10 pm til 6 am for security.
Nice wooded sites not too close to each other with paved pads.

Great sites, we got a water view from ours. Trails everywhere! Very peaceful, easy to find and extremely reasonably priced!  

Beautiful Park

It was super quiet and the weather was amazing. We stayed in site 10 which had great water front views and beautiful sunsets. It was a little difficult of an angle to back into but we recently got a bigger camper and haven’t had as much experience backing it up so it may be easier with more practice. They have bath houses in each loop so you’re never far from a bathroom no matter which site you’re at. The bathrooms were clean but needed some updates. the shower heads were one stream of water so you never felt like you were entirely rinsed off. There are no sewer hookups but they have a dump site near the entrance. The path out to the piers was an enjoyable hike. Overall a great experience, and the cost was very inexpensive.

Gorgeous views

This is a great campground off the beaten path! I’m a water person, so I love the gorgeous views of the TN Tombigbee Waterway. 

There are a couple of loops to choose from with lots of spacious sites. Fishing piers, gazebos and water access, this park offers a lot!

Nice COE campground

Most sites are pretty level, although some have a steep drive to get to. Most all have some, if not complete shade. Concrete drives &amp; gravel patios. Water &amp; electric on site &amp; a good dump station on the way out. Real nice historical center by the gate worth seeing. Makes you appreciate just what the COE people went thru. Showerhouse was older in our loop, but real clean. ATT &amp; Verizon both came in pretty good. Did not try OTA TV. Been here before &amp; probably will return. This time got a park map &amp; marked our prefered sites for future reference.

Whitten Campground/ Fulton Lake

Very clean campground with staff that clean facilities every morning. The management was very kind during my departure.

Clean!

The campground(CG) is easy to find. They opened the check-in gate as we arrived a little before 3:00 PM. The very friendly lady at the gate quickly checked us in, and we were off to the first and only loop that was open in early January. We paid$12.50 with America the Beautiful Pass. We proceeded to site 6 with water&amp; electric(50/30/20 AMP) and backed in with no issues. Site 6 is a wide site, so we had no problems parking our F450 after we unhitched. The CG was not very full this time of year and middle of the week though several rigs came in around dusk. The water pressure as is the norm at most COEs, was over 60 psi, so we used a reducer. We got a fair amount of OTA channels and 4 bars on Verizon. Satellite would have been iffy in this site due to the trees. Whitten has really nice trails that weave down through little valleys to and from the river, which were really nice for walking our dogs. We’ve stayed here before, but this time was just an overnighter. This campground is a great base camp to explore the area and especially the Elvis attractions around Tupelo. In addition, Piezons Pizza in Fulton is one of the best pizza places we’ve come across in our travels. We highly recommend this CG.

One of Our Favorite COEs

We are full-timers in a 36 ft Class A with a Cherokee Trailhawk tow.  We were in site 049 for just one night in mid March.  The CG is very clean, quiet, peaceful and well maintained.  The pads are all concrete with gravel picnic table areas and most sites have reasonable separation.

AT&amp;T coverage was quite good, with 2-3 bars of 5GE and speeds of ~12 MB/s.  We were not able to get DISH coverage on any of the western satellites at our site do to the area being heavily wooded.  We were able to get 15 OTA channels with our omni antenna.  Our site had an open area next to it so we were able to get decent Starlink coverage, with only intermittent dropouts and speeds of 4+ MB/s, but most of the other sites wouldn’t fair so well.
