Lebanon Hills Regional Park is the largest park in the Dakota County park system. Containing almost 2,000 acres, the park offers miles of trails and many lakes for year-round outdoor sports, recreation and environmental education.

The Lebanon Hills Visitor Center, located in the eastern section of the park, offers park information, interactive nature displays, courses and programs, equipment rental and access to all the beauty the park has to offer.

Dakota County Parks is actively restoring more than 1,100 acres of prairie and forest within Lebanon Hills Campground and planting more than 3,000 new trees and shrubs.

Lebanon Hills Regional Park

I love this park and use it frequently for our "test runs". We have a new puppy and a new teardrop, so this was the perfect place for us to have our maiden voyage within 20min of our home. But besides just being close, it's also a really nice campground. It's very wooded and feels private. The RV section has sites that are a bit close together and open, but the tent sites (where we stayed) are much more secluded. The facilities are clean and well-kept.

  

The park itself is also really nice. There are lots of hiking trails, mountain biking, lake access for kayaking/paddle boarding... In the winter we love coming here for day trips to take advantage of the cross country skiing and snow shoe rentals.

Tucked away in the middle of the Cities

Lebanon Hills is a great campsite for families, first time campers, or anyone having a "staycation" while keeping hotel costs down. The East loop is perfect for tent camping with large, wooded, private sites close to the amazingly clean bathrooms and showers. (Seriously, the bathrooms were so clean.) There is a well kept playground and many walking trails all around the park. The RV section was not as shaded or private, but there are a few RV spots that could be private if they're open. What we like is that Lebanon and the area has so much to do. If you can hop in the car, there is a free beach 5 minutes away with rental costs for a SUP, canoe, or kayak, lots of paved trails, unpaved trails, a Visitor Center with free programs, and a really well maintained mountain bike park. The MN zoo, Apple Valley Aquatic Center, Cascade Bay, Outlet Mall, and MOA are a quick 5-10 minute drive away. Yes, I prefer to stay outdoors, but if you have a group or someone who "needs" something to do you will not run out of options.

Family fun and Camping hidden gem

My family and I stayed at the [Lebanon Hills Regional Park](https://www.co.dakota.mn.us/parks/parksTrails/LebanonHills) campground due to its proximity to the [Mall of America](https://www.mallofamerica.com/) about 15-20 minutes away. We did not spend a ton of time in the campground itself as we only stayed 1 night, but I was impressed with the well-maintained and large sites (in the East loop at least, can’t speak to the other one), the wonderful bathhouses / restrooms, and the great playground (with seemingly brand new park equipment) for the kids. The bathhouse even had a separate LARGE family shower &amp; restroom that my girls (8 and 10) used to shower together, which was great. Highly recommend this campground!

And I have to (begrudgingly) admit, the Mall of America was pretty awesome, too.

Beautiful 

We had a great time at Lebanon Hills Campground. This is a great campground for families. We camped in the East Loop and were close to the bathrooms &amp; playground. Our camp site was very private/secluded. The kids enjoyed playing in the woods by our site, which is what camping is all about! The park system is huge and has many hiking trails and places to go. Not all are in walking distance from the campground, like the beach.  We will be coming back!!

Great Family Campground

After picking up our new (to us) teardrop trailer in Minneapolis on a Monday, we wanted to stay someplace local just to test everything out. Thankfully Lebanon Hills had a space available, and from the moment we arrived, we knew we made a good call.

The campground staff checked us in quickly, and gave us the rundown on all the amenities. We headed to our spot, which backed up to a beautiful wooded area, with plenty of grass to walk our wondermutt. Just from driving/walking around, you can tell a lot of thought went into planning this park. The sites are nice and level, with plenty of space between each one. This feels very much like a nice state park.

The site had a nice picnic table, which we used to help sort out our new (to us) trailer storage. We didn’t use the fire ring, but it would have made for a nice campfire. We had full hookups, even though we only needed water and electric.

The bathrooms were among some of the nicest I’ve used at a campground. The shower stall was big enough for a meaty human like myself to shower comfortably. And you can tell the staff takes good care of the facilities.

We met some nice folks staying around us, and got the feeling that many of them return each year, and for as much of the summer as they can.

Our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer to explore what this beautiful park has to offer. If we’re ever in the area again, we’ll spend some time at Lebanon Hills.

The perfect place to spend our first night in the new teardrop!

We live about 15 mins. away from this campground. We stayed in the East Loop which is for smaller RVs and tents. it has electricity but no water hookups, however there are water pumps. We stayed at site 72 which is at the beginning of the loop. This site isn’t as secluded by trees as the other sites and we weren’t able to position our pop up to face into the camping spot which was a little bit of a downer since this spot is on the inner loop. Our spot was spacious, and close to the bathrooms and play area. The play area was really nice and looked brand new. Our girls loved making new friends to play with. We liked that we weren’t super close to any campers unlike most RV spots are nowadays. We will be back to explore other parts of the campground. We did get to check out part of one of the many hiking paths. 

Close to everything but yet secluded

Electric, non electric, and rv sites. some hiking. Very big park overall. a couple of lakes, one of which has more hiking, and you can swim, rent paddle boards, kayaks, and canoes. I bring my own kayak there all the time. Another lake has a fishing pier/dock.

Hiking, biking, camping & more

The office was open till 9pm very friendly. A little pricey for tent camping. The sites are private. Great biking and hiking trails. Great amenities. Close to the zoo as well as the city.

This is such a wonderful campground in the middle of the cities. Very well kept, nice camping spots, beautiful hiking trails, and very nice staff. 

Love this place

This campground is one of two in the Regional Dakota County Park system. At Lebanon they have two 3 campgrounds rolled into one. East look within the trees has electrical, North Loop in the trees has no electrical, and West look has full hook ups with water, waste, and electrical. It was really a great set up here. The check in was super smooth...they even give you specific bags for recycling and garbage so that is awesome they are doing their part. There are a ton of hiking trails and little ponds near by. This is the ideal place to come to get away from the city even though you can hear the cars a little. Lots of trails, great playgrounds, and perfect paths for kids to ride bikes. 

  

The campsites themselves range from simple out in the open to shaded lots. I chose site 78 in the east loop and I could not see my neighbors when back by the fire ring so it was perfect. Other sites in the east loop are similar. There is one shower/bathhouse per loop and each contain 2 showers and 2 stalls with 2 sinks. 

  

This was a great stopover on the way up north.

Perfect City Getaway for the Family

My family and I took our second trip with our travel trailer to Lebanon Hills Campground locates here in the Apple Valley.  It is located on the fringe of a nature reserve with miles of hiking and biking trails.  We stayed in the west loop and all the sites are full hook up back in spots.  Each site has well groomed grass and plenty of space between campers.  Site also came with a XL picnic table and fire ring w/grill grate.  The East Loop provides campers with more rustic accommodations.  Also in the East Loop is a nice play ground and trails.  In between the different loops is a nice pond with groomed trails that go all the way around.  About a half mile from the campground is Skills Park which contains over 10 miles of mountain bike trails!  One down side is that if you want to swim you have to travel about 4 miles to
Lebanon Hills Visitor Center where there is a beach.  They do rent paddles boards and kayaks there.  All in all, beautiful place and a great trip!!

Spacious!!

Definitely check this place out great campsites for tent camping right next door to the MN Zoo campsites nicely wooded spread out nicer than some state park campgrounds. Definitely going to check it out again. 

Amazing campground close to the city 

Great place that has everything you could ask for. If you have kids get close to 90 or 88.

Beauty in the burbs

Lebanon Hills is a great park and has a lot of trails for hiking and mountain biking. Our family selected this camp ground to test out some gear -- if we had problems or if we forgot something it was a short drive home. Turns out this is a wonderful camp ground and offers a lot of seclusion. 

  

Tent camp sites are far enough from each other that neighbors can't be seen, and we didn't hear them either.   

  

The bathroom facility near the ranger station was very well maintained and cleaned several times a day.   
  
The only criticisms we have are that you can hear road noise -- and depending on your site you'll hear the alarm of one of the access gates for the Minnesota Zoo.  

  

We went here as an experiment, but will definitely be coming back throughout the year. Reserve early online, most weekends were already reserved by mid May.

Secluded in the Minneapolis Suburbs

This is a beautiful Park with three separate loops, one for full power and hookups, one with only power and water available and the other with no power. The sides are large and private. Some are wooded and others are open but all were quite nice. Frankly, I'm not sure when I've stayed at a better campground. The bathrooms and showers were spotless and clean three times a day. There's a great playground area for the kids and lots of hiking. Be careful though, there is poison ivy around and ticks can be pretty fierce in Minnesota. We stayed in the East loop and really liked it.

Fantastic and well-run campground

What a wonderful park for being surrounded by the cities! We had previously come for walking and kayaking, but this was our first overnight here. The site and restroom/shower are well kept and there are enough trees/plants between the (tent) sites to make it feel private. It's always fun seeing deer, turtles, fish, gardner snakes here.

In-City Surprise

We love this campground. It's a not-so-hidden gem of a campground. If you can find availablity to make a reservation do not hesitate. This campground is well maintained and has access to plenty to do. Hiking, biking, and fishing to name a few. This campground is in my wife's top 5. The sites are a good mix of private. We stayed at site 45 which was nice and tucked in a corner.
