As part of Georgia’s Intracoastal Waterway, Skidaway Island State Park is nearly 600 acres of maritime forest, tidal creeks, and salt marshes nestled between the Skidaway River and the housing developments of The Landing. The park’s main draw is its lush coastal woods of live oaks, red cedars, and pines dripping with Spanish moss, which, in turn, is home for a variety of wildlife, including deer, raccoons and a variety of shorebirds. Many of the park’s flora and fauna can be seen on a network of 6 miles of walking trails and boardwalks. Some trails are ADA accessible, and some are also open to cyclists. For your best chance at spying a resident alligator, go for a stroll on the 2-mile Big Ferry Trail.

Visitors to Skidaway Island State Park, just a 10-mile drive southeast of Savannah, have access to nearly 90 tent and RV campsites, in addition to 3 camper cabins and 3 group campsites. All sites offer electrical hookups, and some are ADA accessible. Campground amenities include restrooms with showers, bike rentals, picnic areas, two playgrounds, laundry facilities, and an interpretive center. There is also an amphitheater that hosts seasonal interpretive programs. A hiking trail from the campground leads to an observation tower that overlooks the Skidaway Narrows, where you can scan for egrets and osprey. If you’re lucky, you might spot dolphins swimming up the waterway. Campsite rates range from $40–$49/night; cabins range from $42–$140/night.

Skidaway Island State Park Campground

Pros: this is one of the best campgrounds I've ever visited, and one of the quietest. The sites are decently sized and most have good privacy because of plants left up in between sites. The facilities in this park are also the cleanest and most modern I've ever encountered in a campground, and the hot showers were free!! In addition, the rangers were very friendly and one of them even biked to my site to check on how I liked it (because I was a last minute walk-in). This park also has several trails throughout, and the ones I hiked were absolutely gorgeous, the sandpiper trail in particular.

Cons: the sites have cement picnic tables which are very rough. That's all I could think of, this place was great!

I would definitely stay here again given the chance!

Wonderful, private, quiet park and friendly rangers

Nice campground close to Savannah.  More RVs than tents, lots of spots with electric hookups as a result. People are supposed to turn off their generators at a decent hour, but.... It was cool to camp under the Spanish moss. Nice bathrooms with fairly clean showers (3 shower houses in the campground!), all sites had the standard picnic tables and firepits. Be sure to make reservations as this is a busy campground (maybe he closest to historic Savannah). 

Skidaway Island State Park

This is actually down the street from my house. I love coming here. It's reasonably priced to camp/visit, so many wonderful places to hike around and some awesome fishing spots. Lots of coverage from trees...since is hot for most of the year here that is a plus! I highly recommend a visit here. You have grocery, restaurants, liquor, bait, etc. right down the street as well.

Sandy campground, narrow, but level sites. Nice enough, but sand in all those places:)

The trail is nice. Has a walkway across the beach ecosystem, you can see the ground move. It's the cool little crabs running in and out of their holes.

We had no problems getting in and the trails/sites are large and clean. Deer and other wildlife are seen every day.

Relaxing Oasis

This has to be one of the best campgrounds we’ve ever stayed at. Almost all the sites are on very large sites with privacy. The facilities were in great condition. I know a lot of people say Disney’s Fort Wilderness is one of the best in the Southeast, but this campground is easily at the same level as Fort Wilderness. If you are looking for a great campground without the “jam as many people as possible” business model, we’d highly recommend this campground.

Love this spot! The campsites have ample space to spread out a bit and still not bug the neighbors. The vegetation is typical of the region, pretty unique if you're not from here- lush palmettos, and large oak trees draped with Spanish Moss which somehow adds to the laid back tone of the place. Beautiful trails if you're keen for a mellow hike (no elevation to be gained/lost in these parts). The deer aren't shy about cruising through camp. If you're tent camping definitely aim for a site far from RVs to cut down on generator noise/exhaust. Savannah and Tybee are within easy reach (~20 mins) if you want to mix things up. In my experience, things tend to stay a little warmer out here compared to inland during the winter- one trip it was in the 30s in Atlanta but in the 50s on Skidaway.

Spent 3 nights at Skidaway Island SP in July. Beautiful, shaded campground with lots to do. Convenient to historic Savannah, Wormslow plantation and Fort Pulaski.

Perfect for Savannah visit

So beautiful as we awoke to the sun shining through the Spanish Moss hanging from the trees. Big spread out sites, in fact, we commented how quiet the site was. Well maintained by the camp hosts, great hiking and biking. We were on site 66 and would absolutely go again.

Very clean State Park with clean bath house. 30 &amp; 50 amp sites with water, very few have sewer. If you are into watching TV they have cable on the electrical pedestal.

This place is Great! I went there with my family about a month ago, they have hiking trails, bike trails, a nature center and plenty of room for kids to ride bikes. The camp sites are a great size and all of them are pretty close to a bath house. I will definitely go back! They are also pet friendly!

This state park is only a few miles from down town Savannah, Fort Pulaski National historic site, Wormsloe Plantations and more.
Nice level sites, hook ups, shade!
We did have heavy rain 2 nights, so it was wet, but the sandy sites drained well.

Great campground 

We went here for the first extended trip in our new RV and loved it!  Gorgeous park with all of the oak trees and Spanish Moss.  The camp sites were spacious and level.  Some of the cleanest and nicest bath houses I’ve ever seen.  The bike trails and hiking trails are unreal and everything is so nice.  Very close to Savannah and Tybee Island.  We will definitely be back!

Gorgeous State Park!

Campground Review: Skidaway Island State Park is a great campground. There is not a bad site on the grounds. It appeared that all sites are pull-through sites, and there is plenty of space, with greenery, between each site. The comfort station is well-kept, although there was a sewer smell. That is most-likely unavoidable due to the soil type. It was not as unbearable as it may be in the summertime. Gratefully, the bathhouse is heated. We camped during record low temperatures for the area and time of year.(https://gastateparks.org/SkidawayIsland) The hiking trails are well-kept, and easy. One trail is very short for those who want to do some nature-watching, but struggle on long hikes. This trail takes you to a boardwalk, and observation tower in the tidal marsh. We were fortunate to get there as the tide was rolling in. This area is rich and diverse in flora and fauna. Wormsloe State Historical site is just around the corner. The staff and volunteers do a fabulous job at submersing visitors in the history of the area.(https://gastateparks.org/Wormsloe) You can’t visit here without exploring eclectic Savannah. If you want fresh seafood for your camp meal, I highly recommend Dubberly’s Seafood.(https://www.facebook.com/DubberlySeafood/) Product Review: As a Ranger for The Dyrt, the Stream2Sea Conscious Camper Kit surprised me with the effectiveness and quality. I work on a floating classroom for Chattahoochee RiverKeeper. I do“Protect What I Love”. I chose this company based on the name, alone, then was impressed to see that they are co-protectors and educators of our precious water resources. I found the sunscreen to be a little heavy on my sensitive skin, but it did not break me out, and it did protect. The Relief Gel works amazingly well, with only a dab. I have itching spells, and this gave me relief. I, also, used it on a bug bite, and it relieved it. The Shampoo&amp; Bodywash smells terrific! I am allergic to fragrance, and this is natural fragrance. It has a tangerine smell. The only problem is that the aroma fades after it is rinsed out, which happens with natural aromas. It leaves my hair feeling fabulous and is not as fly-away as other products leave my hair. Ranger Review: Stream2Sea Conscious Camper Kit at Skidaway Island State Par

This state park is close to a lot of things to do.  Very close to Wormslow Historic Site and Savannah.  The campground is really nice with large trees and lots of hanging moss.  We were in site 61 that was very deep and secluded with our picnic table set back from the road.  We had to park our camper crooked because of a tree and roots.  The bath house was nice and clean.  However the heat was broken on the hand blower in the women's side.

  

There are sites with full hook ups.  There are also nice trails with one that leads to an observation deck.  Also have bike rentals.

Beautiful Park in Great Location

Campsites:  Large sites that were graveled and level.  We did not have sewer but there were premium sites that did. The ease of access to trails and the beauty of this park make it a favorite with most people.  However, we are always disappointed when we come here that there is all this water around us and no way to access it easily from the campground.   (That 1/4 mile from Park entrance to boat ramp  is about 2 miles from the campground).  Don’t worry- our disappointment does not impact the rating on this 5 star park. There are also 3 cabins and a pioneer group camp site.

Random points but all good !
1.  Scary biking outside park (no shoulder) but with a mountain or hybrid bike you can ride on grassy shoulder pretty comfortably to some interesting areas—&gt; boat launch at first bridge, fishing pier at second bridge, museum 1/2 mile past second bridge.....
2. You have to sign up for trolley pickup and bus pick up by 6 pm the day before at park office  to get transportation to downtown Savannah  on Fridays and Saturdays
3. No easy kayak access unless you have a way to drive 1.5 miles to public boat launch (even though campground is surrounded by water).  We don’t bring a tow vehicle- and locking up the kayaks at the public boat ramp was NOT a safe choice.  (We stop at boat ramp to kayak before we check in to the park and as we depart.)
4. Easy golf cart/bike  path to Publix and cute bar 
5. Nice campground store
6. Nice book exchange
7. Sprint WiFi was decent
8. 7 miles of Super nice hiking trails
9. RV parking available at visitor center downtown Savannah - daily fee 8-6:30 pm $20 no longer allows overnight .  Our 34 foot RV was pushing the size limit and had the lot been full we would not have been able to pull out .  (Used to have overnight rv parking but inconsiderate people ruined that)
10. We heard boondocking spaces at convention center were available overnight for a small fee and you can take ferry across river to historic savannah. (Couldn’t find a lot of credible sources to confirm this but we are going to attempt it on next trip.

Great Park with easy access to Savannah

Big sites with lots of trees and privacy. Well maintained campground that is convenient to Savannah and other sightseeing spots. Lots of great hiking within walking distance of the campsite.

Got this place because Tybee was shut down due to corona. However became one of our favorite places we have visited. Big sites and some are full hook up. Great trails to venture down only down side is nowhere to swim. 

Words can’t describe 

We stayed at Skidaway Island State Park for 4 nights in May. Even thought the park was full (Memorial Day weekend), it never felt crowded. The spaces are very large and spread out. Many of the campsites have gorgeous Live Oak trees covered in Spanish Moss. The center sites in the campground are pull through with full hookups. The majority are some mix of pull through or back in with water / electric. There are a handful of nature trails that are easily accessible from the campground. The campground is also a short drive from Savannah, so it’s a great base camp for exploring northeastern Georgia.

We had a great site a pull thru facing the woods. Site # 75 it had water and electric hook up, cable, picnic table, cement pad and a fire pit. There are some full hook up sites in the park if you want full hook up. Great place to stay!


We could walk to several hikes in the park from our site.  The ferry trail goes along the water and Sandpiper trail it was nice had a picnic table, a bench and beautiful driftwood. 

We hiked the Ferry trail too this was awesome. There are several old stills back there it was a moonshiners paradise. There were old oyster shells along the way where the native Americans lived way back when. There is an observation tower at the river/salt marsh the trail along the water is nice and has some history markers. 


We put the kayak in across the HWY from the park and kayaked back towards the park. Do watch the tides when it goes out you could be hi and dry. 

Tybee Island is close by we spent an afternoon there during the Pirate Fest in October. 

We went to Fort Pulaski it is worth going to see. If you walk the outside wall you can still see mortar in the bricks. There’s cannons, and neat things to see there. 

We loved this campground and would return.

Great campground with a lot to do in the park

We love Skidaway Island State Park for its large wooded sites, big beautiful trees draped in Spanish moss, clean modern bathrooms, and close proximity to Savannah. We visit this park twice a year and will keep coming back.

Keep Coming Back

We camped here back in May. Easy access to Savannah. Some nice trails. Historical area. Camp sites were spacious and clean. We enjoyed our visit to the area. 

Great Campground

The roads into the park are paved and wide enough, it narrows in camping area #3 but I got my 30ft. travel trailer in no problem and saw a couple 5th wheeler's. The sights are comfortably spaced and easily accessible with plenty of space for the tow vehicle. If you like to bike, hike, jog or just walk the trails are well maintained, marked and very scenic. If that's not your thing lovely Savannah does not disappoint. A good assortment of shops, restaurants, bars or tours boasting the cities history. So when entering the park don't get put off by the newly installed speed bumps trailer draggers. The rest is smooth sailing.

Where to start

This was a last minute booking for us and was absolutely delightful. The facilities were clean and very well kept. The property was beautiful and the people friendly and very knowledgeable. 

The proximity to Savannah was the reason I chose this location. It maybe took us 15min to get to River Street from the site which was super convenient for being able to go back and forth. 

I most certainly will be booking this location again.

Great Place!!!

Our spot was campsite #26 

This was a maiden voyage for our Grand Design 399TH 5th wheel trailer. We wanted to go somewhere 2-3 hours from Gainesville for this “shakeout” trip.  This state park fit the bill. 
We arrived after hours so out packet of information was tacked to a board outside the park office. The road were wide and spacious. The overhead canopy of trees were trimmed up well and did not hit the rig. This park is very good for large 40+ ft rigs. 

I would HIGHLY recommend it!! It was huge, very private and close to the bathrooms.  It was a level gravel site that was clean and freshly racked. It had full hookups and 50 amp which was great for this 43 foot beast. 

There’s not a whole lot to do in the park so a great location for just relaxing, reading or hiking. It had nice paved roads for biking. You also have a couple of hiking trails although we did not try them. This park is convenient to downtown Savannah and a nice outing if you want to explore or sightsee.  I would definitely go back.



Spacious Camping in Georgia

We wanted to explore the GA coast and Skidaway Island State Park did not disappoint. We used the park as a base to experience Georgia's low country.

While the Island is basically a gated community for Savannah, the park is a beautiful reminder of a time gone by with Spanish moss draped live oaks and plenty of wildlife to see and hear.

Well maintained and clean, the park is just what we were looking for. The hosts keep the place spotless and make sure the rules for dogs and quiet times are adhered to for the enjoyment of all, while being friendly and helpful to everyone.

The trials inside the park are wide, well marked and, scenic. During tides they can be a bit "moist" so plan to walk part of the trails barefooted or simply avoid those areas.

We did get on the water with our paddle boards as there is a public boat ramp just over the causeway. Exploring the marshlands and seeing the wildlife was awesome. The ramp was clean and well maintained. There is a kayak tour serve that operates from the ramp so, if you don't have water gear, you can rent from them or take part in a tour. Just make note of tides and wind.

Provisions are close at hand with 2 large, well stocked grocery stores within minutes of the park entrance.

October is a wonderful time to visit the Georgia coast. Bugs, tourists, and foul weather are at seasonal lows. Our visit was the middle of October and the days were warm and sunny with the nights cool and mostly bug free. We did get a couple of night time showers and the sound of rain on the tent fly lulled us to sleep. Waking up to the barred owls hooting to each other was nice as well.

UGA has a learning center on the island with an aquarium but, due to COVID, you must make reservations for admittance. The site has some discovery tails that are great for everyone with a boardwalk that extends over the marsh.

As noted in other reviews, Savanah is close by and the beaches of Tybee Island are about 20 minutes away. Fort Polaski is a great place to explore with a lighthouse trial. Be aware that the trial can be very muddy at times. We walked the trail bare footed with pants legs rolled up. No issues.

We visited Wormslow Historic Site. There is a 1.5 mile drive under towering moss draped live oaks to the visiter's center. Beautiful. At the visitor's center you can learn about the history of the site and inhabitants. There are trails through the site with historical reenactment sites along the way.

We plan to go back next fall.

Great Campground, (shhhh don't tell everyone).

Arrived here for a four-night tent stay. Easy drive in from Tomoka State Park up I-95. Got the last spot at #62 which is very large and has a large tent pad. The electric and water hookups are on the edge of the street, so I had to use both the 75 and 25 foot extension cords to give power to the tent. There's a fire pit and a large picnic table. The restrooms are clean, as well as the laundry room. The dumpster and recycling bin are a bit far from 62, so bring your bicycle, lol. Deer were roaming the grounds in the early morning. Lots of birds singing at sunrise too. Great place. The 45-min drive up to Tybee Island Beach is totally worth it, with beautiful marshes and flatlands along the way. Beach photos included here.

Largest campsites, great separation

Stayed here for 4 days my wife and I loved it. This was our first trip in our 25 ft Kodiak Dutchman, so we didn't know what to expect. This place was the perfect place for 1st time RV campers we had water and electric and dump station . This park has beautiful trails well maintained scenic with wild life deer and birds . We hiked all the trails. The park has showers and restrooms.

Great stop at skidaway. They accommodate late arrivals. Beautiful campgrounds. Big Ferry Trail is great at dusk/sunset. Hot showers. 

Nice Time

Stayed for a night on my drive from New Jersey to Florida. Easy access, great facilities, and a nice bike ride to Savannah (bridge is a bit dicey, but drivers gave good clearance).

Nice pine forested campground in gorgeous state park. Excellent trails for walking through spectacular marshes, pine/palm/oak forests. Near Savannah but on Skidaway Island you have very nice remote, scenic feel. Campsites all nice. We stayed in January 2021 and are returning again in February 2021! Love it.

Beautiful scenery, lovely forested campground

We enjoyed taking out 30ft trailer to this campground. Facilities were clean and simple but did the job. The camping spots are spaced nicely so you can say hello to the neighbors but also have your own space. Very dog friendly. The hiking trails nearby are lovely(wear your boots if it’s been raining!). We also visited Wormsloe historic site nearby which was interesting and worth the $10 per adult ticket cost. 

Happy mossy campin 

Stayed 3 nights in mid-March.  Very convenient to Savannah as well as SC border. Plenty of shopping and stores (Target, Lowe’s etc) within 15 minutes. Three clean and well stocked bathhouses with hot hot showers and laundry in each. Very quiet campground while we were there during the week.

We love to support the State Parks so happily paid the $45 a night. 





Pleasant State Park

We followed the road into the park until we got to where it stated campground to the right and registration to the left. There was a drive through slot to the side of the visitors center that we could have pulled into to register but we parked in one of the large parking lots in front. There’s a road at the far end of the large parking lots to get back to the campground. After registering, which included a parking pass fee, we headed to site 56 with water and 30 AMP, which we had reserved on line. However, this was our first time here and we found out the road to Camping Area 4 to get to back-in site 56 was quite narrow. We have a 39’ 5th wheel and I would not recommend anything larger driving into this part of the campground due to trees and tight turns. For larger rigs, recommend areas 1 and 3. We were actually able to pull thru into site 56 then backed up to get situated. We had to use our leveler blocks on the door side to get level. Once settled, this was a great campsite and one of the largest and most private in the CG. You cannot see campsites on either side of this site as they are farther down the road and there are trees and plant cover. There are campsites right across the road but with the position of our rig and F450 we could hardly see those sites. This is a beautiful campground with a forest feel and nice trails. For the amount of campers during our four nights stay, it was peaceful and quiet. Not that you need them, but there was a nice variety of OTA channels. We got 2 bars on Verizon. There was a lot of tree cover in the CG so satellite would be iffy. There were a variety of sites in all four areas that included pull thru, FHUs, and 50 AMP. There seemed to be no real rhyme or reason throughout the CG as to which sites are FHUs, 30 AMP, 50 AMP or pull thru. There were 3 shower houses with a laundry room on each. If eligible, be sure to ask for military discount on the parking pass fee. Our nightly rate was based on a senior discount(62 and older). The visitors center had a very nice gift shop and also sold firewood. We had a great experience and would definitely return.

Great Base to Explore Savannah

We loved the natural setting of this park. We had a mama deer with 2 babies 25 feet from our camper. The people at the gate and office were super friendly as well as super clean bathroom facilities.  I would recommend!

Perfect Spanish moss covered campground. 

We stayed here for three nights in March. Beautiful private sites, moss covered trees and great hiking trails in park with nice nature center and little store. The sites along the outer road near road back to a golf course. Avoid if you don’t want to wake up at 6am to power tools, very loud power tools. being used for at least an hour or two, every morning. You can’t see them but can hear them!
We loved our site, so private and large, but the noise drowned out the birds and disturbed our nature time. Too bad. We drove to Savannah, very close, and rode our bikes around. Visited Wormslee, gorgeous alley of live oak.


Beautiful but noisy

We absolutely loved Skidaway Island State Park. The campsites are spacious, bathhouses clean, and the trails are kept very manicured.  It’s a small state park but the perfect size to tuck away for a week. There’s also a Publix that’s easily in bike riding distance just outside the gate of the park to pick up groceries.

A hidden gem just south of Savannah

Skidaway Island State Park is a terrific spot conveniently located on the Diamond Causeway outside Savannah. We stayed here for 3 nights and found something fun and different to do each day of our stay. Whether you’re looking to do some hiking, biking, or kayaking on the intercostal, Skidaway has got you covered.

We stayed in site 25 which offered 2 water spigots and 20/30/50 amp electric. The site was level with a fire ring, tent pad and large picnic table. The main road getting in to the campground is 2 lanes wide, but the lanes that go through each loop are somewhat narrow. The dump station is a bit odd, located in the middle of the campground. If you’re  staying in one of the loops closest to the entrance, you’ll need to circle all the way around to the back of the campground to access it.

The park office is very nice and offers a variety of merchandise and some basic camping supplies including fire starters and bundles of wood. There was also some RV supplies like AquaKem and dump hoses which would come in handy if you needed something in a pinch. You can also rent cruiser bikes here for $6/hour. We enjoyed riding around the park and on the Big Ferry Trail.

Great spot to enjoy the beauty of coastal Georgia

We booked site 61 at Skidaway Island State Park for our first trip to Savannah. It was a convenient location for experiencing the low country. 

We called ahead because we knew we’d arrive after hours. The staff was helpful and completed the check in process over the phone. She hung out tag at our site and left our map taped to the Visitor Center for our convenience. Our site was a little difficult to find (we had to make the loop a second time before finding it). The main road through the campground is two-lane, but the other roads are very narrow with vehicles driving in both directions. Fortunately, we didn’t encounter another rig on the narrow road of campground #4. 

We loved the seclusion our site provided. We had a little trouble getting level with all of the roots but managed to get it done before rain set in for the evening. After touring the campground, we agreed that site 61 was our favorite because of the privacy and large yard space (both worth forgoing a sewer connection in our opinions). 

Our primary reason for selecting this campground was its proximity to Savannah. It was a great hub for the activities we did throughout the week, but we also got to explore the park itself. The new visitor/interpretation center is beautiful! The trails behind it are very accessible and diverse. We saw lots of wildlife including deer, rabbits, squirrels, birds, and crabs. We also enjoyed the Big Ferry Trail, a three-mile loop with various historical sites along the trail. This was also a very easy trail to hike. This is a great campground for bicycles. The playground was nice and located near the visitor center (away from the campground). Although we didn’t use the bathhouses or laundry facilities, they were all very clean and well appointed. 

Anyone wanting to visit Savannah would find this a lovely, convenient location! We highly recommend this beautiful state park. 

Skidaway Getaway

Sites have lots of room, and they are nice and private. The visitor's center is gorgeous with activities in the summer as well as bike rentals. Lots of clean bathrooms with showers and laundry facilities.

I would definitely recommend this place! Everyone here is so nice. We weren’t going to make it in time to check in, so we called ahead and the girl on the phone helped us out and told us they would leave our registration on the window at the visitor center. The camp host was so helpful and nice! The bath house was clean, trails were so quite and beautiful and we were not to far from anything (downtown, beach, super market). Would definitely come back!! 

Getting away 

We have camped here twice now and absolutely love it here. Huge shady sites in beautiful Georgia Marshlands. Very close to downtown Savannah and Tybee Island. We will definitely be back!

One of our favorites

We absolutely LOVED Skidaway Island camp ground! Huge campsites, gorgeous bike and walking trails, big playground, friendly staff, state of the art welcome center. 

Lovely campground 

We could only get one night but it was still a treat to stay. The sites are separated giving your privacy from your neighbor. Power was stable and water had sufficient pressure. The tree covered site may pose a tad of a challenge for those using only solar but it’s worth it. The comfort station was very clean. 

Great state park!

We camped here for 4 nights with our dogs in a tent. We stayed in campsite 52 which was very roomy and private. It was surrounded by palms, pines, and oaks. Electricity and a water spigot was available. You can also stay in one of the three cabins or do pioneer camping in little shelters along the trail. 

The bathhouse was pristine. The volunteers are doing such a fantastic job to keep it clean. The showers were nice and hot and had a good water pressure. 

The visitor center is a 5 to 10 min walk from the campground. It is brand new. It has a well stocked gift shop and a small but very nice native species exhibition. The highlight is a 20 foot tall skeleton of a giant sloth. Perfect for pictures with friends or family. 

The park also offers 6 miles of hiking trails. You meander through marsh land and in the forest. I'm sure when it's warmer you can see more wildlife like reptiles and birds. If you forgot something, there is a Publix about 5 min away. It is also a 20 min ride to downtown Savannah. If you want an excellent meal and service… visit the Olde Pink House. 

We would definitely camp here again but probably not in the hot summer month.

Excellent State Park and campground 

We stayed here for a week and really enjoyed it. We had a pull through site with full hookups. The sites are well spaced with trees in between most sites. There are 4-5 miles of trails in the park that are close to the campground. We had 1-2 bars of Verizon and 2-3 bars of AT&amp;T. We got quite a few OTA channels that came in really good. The dump station was across from our site, but it wasn't too bad. I'd definitely stay here again. Some roads were a little narrow and tight to navigate with trees. The only issue we had is they turned off the water without notice one of the days we were there and it was off for over an hour. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

It was our first camping trip/road trip, we had a roof top tent on top of our suv and skidaway island state park was our first stop! 
We checked in at the office, which had a beautiful gift shop and many supplies incase you had forgotten any. We were greeted by wonderful staff members and a park ranger. Parking is $5, they were currently out of firewood but thankfully Publix is not far. We made reservations for one night for a tent site which was not a far walk to the restrooms and shower facilities. Our site was very spacious and private  and it was a pull through which was wonderful for our rooftop tent. The park is very clean and a absolutely beautiful place to stay, we decided to stay for night #2. The facilities, the sites, the roads were perfect! Also, sites came with running water, electric, fire pit and picnic table.Watch for the big raccoons and don’t leave your trash out at night because those bandits will come! 

1st Road-trip!

Skidaway Island SP is quite possibly the nicest state park camping facility we’ve yet to visit!  The sites are beyond spacious and afford plenty of privacy - and the hookups were conveniently situated at both sites we utilized during our visit.  Huge, level tent pads for tent camping are also provided, as are picnic tables and fire rings.  Shower and toilet facilities were clean and in excellent repair.  The brand-new visitors center is beautiful and staff were courteous &amp; professional to a person!
Bird life is abundant and we had deer show up every day to check on us.  Hiking trails are outstanding and the picnic/playground areas are fantastic.
Skidaway Island SP is a gem with the added bonus of being just a 15 minute drive to downtown Savannah - we will undoubtedly be returning!

Private, level, great space between sites

The campground is beautiful, the staff is friendly, and the sites are level and spacious. I prefer the sites on the outer ring as they offer the most privacy. The sites have plenty of room between them and many have natural boundaries. We couldn't see our neighbors. Most of the sites are pull through for RVs and have a tent pad, table and fire ring. 
It's also only ten minutes from historic Savannah. There is also a convenient shopping center just outside the campground. We will be going back. 

Great Campground, Great location

The staff was very friendly. Our site was beautiful. The campground is what a campground should be. Lots of trees &amp; some wildlife. It is very clean &amp; quiet. 

GA trip

If you value a beautiful forested setting with tons of shade, huge camp sites, and with most hookups (electrical and water) this place is you. Proximity to Savannah historic center is the cherry on top. Oh bike rentals, trails and easy dump station. 

The BEST

Enjoyed this campground! Decent amount of shade at each site, the Spanish moss covered trees are beautiful!! Also saw lots of wildlife including deer around the park. Showers and bathrooms were in great shape and always kept very clean! 

Trails: we hiked the sandpiper trail and avion loop trail during the day (be aware these trails have minimal shade and can be rough in the hot sun) but they were short so it wasn’t too bad. In the evening we took our mountain bikes around the Big Ferry Trail Loop- the observation tower around sunset is a must see! (See pics) 

Great campground!

This state Park keeps a very nice huge campground. It is well maintained. Our site was next to a new bathhouse with individual rooms for showers and restrooms. The sites are very spacious with a tent pads, picnics tables and a fire ring. They have full service sites and water/electric sites as well as tent sites. Dump station available as well. A very quiet and dark campground 25 minutes to Savannah, 30 minutes to Tybee Island.

Fantastic camping closer to Savannah

We stayed at #66 for 4 days. The sites are all huge and spaced well apart. All have water and electricity. The park maintenance is excellent. The showers have plenty of hot water and are very clean. The best part is how beautiful it is. It’s shaded with Spanish moss draped large trees. The location can’t be beat. The staff in the office/store are exceptionally helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much. 

One of the Best

This is a spacious campground with plenty of room between sites and clean facilities. If you go in the warmer months, be sure to bring bug spray!

Sidaway near Savannah

Quiet campground with great hosts and a relaxed feel. The best part is proximity to great places like Oatland Wildlife center. 

Near to Savannah 

Our stay was so wonderful! Relaxing under tall trees covered with moss. So humid!  No pool to cool off! I was scared by a raccoon. It tried to steal our dinner in a cup. Saw a deer walking around. So close to Savannah downtown for us to tour around there.

Georgia state parks 

We have stayed here multiple times when visiting Savannah. Still one of our favorite state parks. Big campsites, clean, quite. The new visitor center is really nice.

This campground is beautiful, with clean facilities and hiking trails within walking distance to campground. We spent one night and loved to experience the park on top of exploring Savannah which is a 20 minute drive. We would definitely return!

Best of nature close to Savannah 

This is a beautiful state park close to Savannah. The sites are sufficient. The bathrooms are clean…The store is wonderful… The natural setting speaks for itself!
