St. Lucie Campground provides a relaxing camping experience on the St. Lucie Canal, part of the 152 mile Okeechobee Waterway that spans South Florida from the Atlantic Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico. Campers can enjoy watching boats and the occasional manatee pass through the St Lucie Lock while sitting under the warm Florida sun.

    Recreation

Hike the St. Lucie Nature Trail on the north side of the canal, or spend the day fishing and boating on the St Lucie Canal and the south fork of the St. Lucie River.

    Natural Features

Tropical vegetation surrounds the campground, which is about 25 miles east of Lake Okeechobee, the second largest freshwater lake in the United States. The lake is 451,000 acres and on average only 9 feet deep.

    Nearby Attractions

The Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge is recommended for visitors who are interested in the many species of birds in the area. The city of Stuart is just down the road with restaurants and shopping. Sandy beaches located on nearby Hutchison Island make for a fun days trip to the Atlantic Ocean. Nearby Fort Pierce is home to the National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum.

Our property is 2.3 acres of beauty! Immediately adjacent to the RV spot is a large, open meadow, surrounded by food forest on two sides. These areas are like where orchards meet wildlands. The food forest attracts all kinds of birds, bees, and butterflies. There's always something in bloom, and racks of bananas are abundant. The host is an expert forager and garden designer. There are pigs, chickens, and a fruit tree nursery on site. We're only four miles from the gorgeous Riverbend Park, and eleven miles from Jupiter's beautiful beaches.

Nature's Retreat: A Sustainable Getaway with a Touch of Serenity

Incredible campground, and it was an unforgettable experience! The 2.3 acres are full of natural beauty, with the open meadow and food forest creating a peaceful and vibrant atmosphere. The birds, bees, and butterflies were everywhere, making it feel like a true nature retreat. The abundance of fresh bananas and the host's expertise in foraging added a unique touch. Plus, being so close to Riverbend Park and Jupiter's beaches was a huge bonus! Just like keeping track of GEPCO bill online at https://gepcobillsonline.pk/ helps me manage my energy usage, this campground taught me to appreciate natural resources and sustainability.

I have to start by saying that I haven't been here in a few years but I went there this week and I was amazed at the transformation. It is beautiful, clean and very welcoming. Each site has new outdoor furniture and is clean. These sites are just waiting for you to pull in. The staff was very nice and went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed. I highly recommend a stay here. The pool is crystal clear and welcoming. It's located near many attractions and shopping. Beautiful sunset viewing across the street at Vista View Park and easy highway access. You're going to love your stay at this KOA!

      It’s the bees knees

This is a working bee farm, so bee aware if you have allergies. It is quiet, clean, and airy. You can’t hear your neighbors. Just take a breath and relax.

Love Steve the owner, he is very accommodating and loves what he does.

The air strip is an added extra. I love watching the planes take off and land.

All sites are full hookup. Great place to stay if you want to stay for awhile. So much to do and see.

Got here in March and it is now May. Feels like home.

      Buggy but quiet

Follow the steps described on the website to register for a free camping permit. You’re supposed to write your name and permit number on a paper to display on your dash and check in with the camp host, but we never saw them and no one came by.

We’re probably spoiled coming from non buggy places, but there were a lot of gnats and bugs. We basically stayed in the camper the entire time. The family campground has composting toilets (they do smell bad, but better than nothing at a free site). There’s an equestrian campground down the road that has showers and running water toilets but we didn’t check those out. Some people had several barking dogs but that didn’t bother us overnight. Plenty of empty spaces on a Thursday night.

Beautiful park, but no parking and very crowded

I was going to rent there, but it was so crowded that we would not be able to open our awnings and we were only allowed 1 car per spot. You have to pay $6.00 a day to park your car in a lot that is some distance away. This of course is in season, so I am sure that this was why is was the way it was. It was so crowded that I could not see how our 5th wheel would fit, not how we would be able to fit it in. I am so glad we went to visit before we were to stay 3 months there

Great trip with lots of Rural Florida to see and understand the other Florida… wonderful Everglades set up with small pond and small gators residents.Perfect place to spend a night unless you have to poop… outhouse is the way and you can smell it . Showers will be a mile down the road but if you can go past that then you are good to go.

      Can’t believe this is free

This place has pretty much everything a normal campground would have at no cost. Grass is well kept, bathrooms and showers are clean, hot water, fire rings, picnic tables, and really nice host. There is some noise from the nearby road, but not too bad. Verizon service was good enough to stream Netflix. The registration process was quick and pretty easy. I registered on a Thursday for a stay Friday-Sunday and was able to get a spot.

There are bicycle trails, canoeing/kayaking options, Hobe Sound beach nearby. I absolutely live this place.

      Quiet, private, FREE campground

I love a free campground with all the necessities. The spots aren't paved but they're level, some have tables and fire pits. There's bathrooms and showers on-site. Water is also available in some of the center areas for filling up containers.

You will need to register on their website for free access and the gate code, and while it is first come first served, I'd say only 10% of the spots has campers. (But it's June in FL so it's HOT)

There's also an equestrian campground for folks with horses. I didn't go see that but wonder how the horses fit in the tents? ;-)
