Ocean Pond hosts more than 100,000 visitors annually. The two-mile wide lake has a shallow, sandy beach and facilities for fishing, picnicking, hiking, restrooms, fire rings and picnic tables. Ocean Pond is a favorite for boaters and skiing enthusiasts. A public boat launch and a 67-site campground attracts visitors from many parts of the country. The early bird gets the worm! Come early for lakeshore camping. Nineteen sites have electric and water hook-ups, 27 have water hook ups and there are twenty primitive sites. Water and electric are paved spurs with a 50-foot capacity. Each site has a lantern post, picnic table, fire ring and convenient access to bathrooms and hot showers. Campers can enjoy the boat launch and swimming area. If you are interested in day-use activities, the Olustee Beach has full bathrooms with showers, beach, boat launch, fishing pier, trails and picnic areas. The Great Florida Birding Trail and the Florida National Scenic Trail pass through the campground. Motor boats and trailers can be kept in the boat trailer parking across from the boat ramp. Ocean Pond is just four miles away from the Olustee Battlefield Park, site of Florida's only Civil War battle in 1864. The Olustee Battle Festival and Re-enactmentis held annually in Lake City. The campground is located approximately 1 hour from the First Coast Atlantic beaches and a short half-hour to multiple State Parks, local springs and caves.

Great quiet and off the beaten path campground. Clean and big sites, with multiple different options. Bring your boat, Ocean Pond is more of a lake than a pond.

Off the Beaten Path

We found this campground on the national forest website and had planned to stay one week maybe two.
Once we got here we found it seemingly crowded, but for good reason, it's got plenty of sites that are filled most of the time with avid travelers who know this is a good spot. There are many volunteers and they keep it quite clean. They have 60 or so sites 15 are electric. There are 2 bath houses each with bathrooms, washer and dryer and 4 showers each. Everyone here seems to be long term travelers and good company. If your passing through this part of Florida its a great stop but it may take a day or two for a electric spot to open up. Lake city is about 30 mins away and you can get any supplies you may need there. In the end we're maxing out our stay at 30 days because this campground is great. We're planning on coming back here on our way out of Florida.

More than we ever expected

A nice, clean, remote campground in the north central Florida wetlands/pine and palmetto forests. The bathrooms are clean, as are all of the campsites. Some of the primitive sights might be a little wet after heavy rains but all the paved sites are nice.

Great campground with beautiful scenery by the lake! This campground reopened on March 31, 2021 at 50% capacity. We stayed there 5 nights- March 31 to April 5, 2021. It is divided into 3 sections: sites 1-19 are large full-hookup($30/$15 Senior Pass); 20-47 are water-only with bathrooms, flush toilets&amp; showers nearby($20/$10 Senior Pass); 48-67 are"primitive" sites with bathrooms and water nearby($12/$6 Senior Pass). We stayed in one of the water-only sites. The camp hosts were friendly and helpful. We hiked several nearby sections of the Florida trail, and we got some strange insect bites, plus ticks. Nevertheless, it was a great experience.

Great campground with beautiful scenery by the lake

First of all the campground host was a very nice gentleman. He even calle me sir. The bathrooms were impeccably clean. Flush toilets, hot showers. My sight was Blacktop with a fire ring and picnic table and water. That's all I needed. It was so quiet you could hear a flea flying around your ear. I'm heading further south and will be returning here to stay here on my return trip North.

Very Nice and Quiet 

Stayed here in August, of course it was hot. Didn't bother me. No problems at all. Clean restrooms, clean hot showers. Flushable toilets. The Host was a nice guy. 
Stayed a second time in October. Close to Lake City for shopping. So far a favorite. 👍

Camped twice 

20$ a night with American the Beautiful National park pass. Parked pretty close to the water. Its very beautiful here 

Awesome camp spot 

One star for the lake, another star for the forest. You fill out a letter and leave your money in a box. You can choose between 12$ (primitive), 20$ (water) and 30$ (e/w) sites, which is actually cool, would the host not close most of the sites for „contractors“, who never arrived. They block about 10 sites for whoknowswho which is a shame. Nobody arrived on any of those closed sites for all the days we were there. The bathrooms were the worst we have seen in Florida especially the showers. The ones in our bathhouse were completely closed. and the host called Mark is that type of unfriendly guy with a huge dog you don’t want a discussion with. Just poorly maintained, plastic flying around in the forest, just no love there. Another host called Don was friendly.
