Just because You Pay Doesn't Mean You Get to Stay

I, like most folks we spoke with after our experience, were not aware that you could book a site 3 months in advance and then have it be given to someone else who comes in earlier than you. We booked well in advance to be set up for the @townoffrisco triathlon we were racing Saturday and spend a few days in town. We called on Thursday to say we would not make it until Friday, then to our surprise we rolled in Friday to a large class A in our reserved site. It seems because of the high demand for camp spots the hosts not only have zero empathy but almost seem to relish in immediately taking defense with an elitist flair to their position of power, no matter how kind and understanding you are. Power does corrupt... It's unfortunate that people do not matter - after giving away our site to trolls who despite the full campground sign came in to scavenge a site, the hosts sent us on a wild goose chase to another campground on the other side of the lake to meet a "Bob," who would put us in overflow for the night. Well Bob was a no show, so our 29' RV full of hungry kids and stressed parent racers drove around that campground only to drive back to Frisco and end up in a parking lot at 10:30pm wondering if we would be kicked out at some point in the night. Needless to say, one of us raced the other did not sleep well in the parking lot and had to forfeit. Both camp hosts we dealt with did not care, nor have the tools to find us an alternative. They could have gotten creative and found a spot somewhere onsite but rather harshly passed the buck and left us searching hours for a place to sleep with no where to go. Read the fine print, and remember, they can do what they want without recourse. We never yelled or were belligerent despite our frustration and utter disbelief, maybe we should have. All we could think of was these site stealing folks paid them extra for our spot, hosts made double the money on that one. At the Marina, we heard tales of the horrible Peak One hosts, really sad Frisco.
