Tahoe Valley Campground

One of the largest and nicest campground for RVers and Tent campers combined. Helpful staff, and park rangers on site. Activities planned each day. Close walk to Lake Tahoe and restaurants

Great all around campground for RVers and tent camping 

much busier overall than the majority of the eastern sierras, still a nice get away. not too close to the lake but access is far from difficult. book ahead of time and request 9 for a tent site.

We ended up camping in a truck camper at Tahoe Valley Campground after being caught in a snow storm. For a last minute find, it turned out to be an awesome choice. It was the weekend after Thanksgiving and snowing so there were a handful of people at the campground and the entire place was very quiet. The RV sites have hookups (although we weren't able to connect to water because of freezing temperatures) and there are many amenities available including hot showers, laundry facilities and a general store.

It was a little overpriced for the low season, but I guess that's Tahoe. I imagine it gets very busy in the summer, but we had a wonderfully quiet time there. And nothing beats making a fire in the snow and waking up to a couple of feet of white fluffiness!

Super busy campground with kids running around and riding bikes. They put on a ton of events like karaoke nights, live music, and smores nights. Hot showers and well lit clean bathrooms. Hard to find solitude or silence

Glamping with all the amenities

We came into south lake to visit family. This campground is right in town but there’s enough space and trees to give it a natural setting. Bathrooms are great and it’s pretty quiet considering it’s popular. Looks great for families and there’s a dog park, pool and trails. 

Easy and Central

It was very crowded and we stayed in our site and away from public areas. Pool was open as well as restrooms/showers. They talked about bears visiting but we didn’t spot any there. We had to stay 3 nights minimum as a condition and for the site/service i felt it was overpriced. Registration office has plenty of ice but limited beer and soda drinks. It was quiet for the most part after 11:30 pm. Sites are dusty which made us swipe every single day our rental RV. Don’t judge me.. I’m an RV newbie and like clean sites.  2.4 miles to Lake Tahoe and lots of trails around. 

They advertised WiFi service, but it’s not free. 

Huge place... nice trees! 

We have a 35 foot 5th wheel and a lot of these spots seem small and hard to get into. We have stayed in site 128 and 129 which are pull though and easy to get into. I would book these spots if they are available. The spots in front of us seemed very narrow and a couple trailers had a hard time getting in (around sites #169&amp;170).  One site they couldn't even open their awning because of a tree. Motorhomes seemed to fit in these spots better.. We have stayed here a couple times and will probably come back because it's close to a lot of things. Right behind spot 128 is a street kids can ride bikes in. There is also a chain length fence with a walk way on the other side. If you have bikes lock them up. Somebody stole my friends bike. Try and check in online so you don't have to wait. My friend checked in that way. I didn't realize they had that option so I went inside to check in. 

Small sites

Most likely due to COVID and it being off season, the campground was barely a 3rd full. We had site 157 about 150 yards from the road. Road noise was not too bad and the ability to see the lake made up for anything we heard. The campground was well maintained. The snow added to the scenery. Our pad was paved, but pretty skinny. Our fold out stairs did not reach the ground due to the small drop off from the pavement. I added a few boards to solve that.   Remember you have to park in the campground and then walk across the street to check in.  

  

The beach was amazing. We had 2 small dogs so they went allowed on the Zephyr Cove beach, but a short walk to the right there is a dog friendly beach. I would argue it’s even better part of the beach. Nice rock formations and sandy beach. 

  

Unhook and go see Emerald Bay. Make sure you check out the waterfall and short like to eagle lake. All from the Eagle Falls parking lot.  Kiva Beach is also a great place to go if you have have dogs or even if you don’t

Zephyr Cove - Perfect Timing

We had a great time at this winter paradise!!  South Lake Tahoe had gotten 20 inches of snow in the 14 days prior to our arrival, then got four more inches while we were there.  Practice your backing up, the plowed snow made some of the pull through sites back in only!!  The huge, beautiful trees made for some additional obstacles.  The best part of our stay was the assistance we received from TERRY in changing sites and getting set up.  The campground is close enough to all the activities in South Lake Tahoe.  The plowed snow and ice made walking through the campground very difficult, but there wasn’t anyplace else you could put it.  The dog park was great!!  When you’re traveling with a Great Dane and Australian Shepard, that’s a big deal!!  We’ll stay here again...maybe in the summer!!


Winter Wonderland !!

The area is nice, it is not near the lake but the lake is only a small drive away. The place is crowded and they pack you in here, but our site (113) was a nice place in the corner. There are much better sites with more room near the dog park if you are looking for more space. 

Nice but crowded 

Drove in and was greeted by an escort named Brett!!he showed us where to drop our tow and even helped us…..He helped my husband back into our site and made sure our slide outs were out and everything before heading off. Everyone waves and says hi as you pass by. I wish we had neighbors like this at home… They have a dog park for those fur babies, a store to get things you might’ve forgot and right out of the campground they have a few eating places and stores.(Taco Bell, pizza) paved roads so kids can ride bikes around the campground and a swimming pool! Beautiful scenery with tall trees!!! They have activities to do for everyone! Campground is kept very clean!! I know now why it’s hard to make reservations!! Keep being awesome Tahoe Valley Campground!!

Very friendly welcoming!!!!

We really enjoyed our stay here!! Tons and tons of different kinds of campsites! They have a pool, horseshoes pit, kids playground, pool table! Working showers and relatively clean restrooms! We loved how close it is to everything. I would say it's 20 minutes in each direction to whatever you want to do! They are pretty strict on the 12pm check in bit other than that the staff is great!!

Sites are a little tight with all the beautiful trees but it was a wonderful 4 nights! We were greeted by a campground employee named Brett. He was so welcoming and helpful.

This place is huge and has everything you need! Dog friendly, kid friendly, adult friendly. Definitely going back! 


Tahoe getaway from the Heat

It’s nice. The kids are excited about the amenities and I would definitely stay here again. 

Great activities for kids. Huge pool. Great campground for riding bikes and scooters. Cute park. Love the amenities and nice neighbors. Love the diversity in campers too - lots of tent camping interspersed with RV. 

That said - sites are tight. And the ground is a really Sandy like fine ashy dirt.  Dusty dusty!   And we had a huge hole I needed to avoid and park over. Unfortunately we didn’t have power working at our site either and needed to find a number to cal the front desk (harder than you’d think!) wait for maintenance and it eventually got fixed (breaker was missing at the main electrical panel a couple hundred feet away). Super nice maintenance guy and it’s fixed. Just a little hiccup. Fingers crossed no one checks in the the adjoining sites since I’m parked so wonky over this hole. 


Great location and tons of amenities but some head scratchers too

It was a great stay overall. This place is pretty big. Check in took awhile, but worked out. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is pretty good with close by restaurants and stores. We used our bikes and took some great rides from there. Campsites were nice size, didn’t feel too crammed in. Some nights had live entertainment that was fun.I would stay there again.

Our second time here so that’s a good sign.  My biggest issue with this campground is the dirt. It’s this ash dirt that gets everywhere. The sites are small but have full hookups. The store is lovely but not open often. There is a staff shortage so a couple days a week nothing is open while the staff they have do Campground maintenance.  I totally get it. But you pay $130!!  But it’s Tahoe I guess. Just rough…. I need to be brave and try a new place next time. 

Convenient location with amenities 

A pool was greatly advertised, but “out of season”. The General Market was randomly closed for 4 days, for inventory. Our spot had no fireplace. 250 bucks to park our RV for 2 nights wasnt a great deal.
