Secluded sites

You won’t get lost if you use the app called “WAZE”. Address on WAZE app is, “ Forest Rte 25S04 “ It’s a maps app just like Apple Maps. The app works even when you lose signal! It will take you right to the camp sites if you start the destination while you have signal. If you drive a bit further…

Dam(n) Construction

This place is right off of Hwy 178 and you can camp right next to the water's edge but there is 24/7 dam construction with bright lights and loud machinery at all hours so be aware that it is not very peaceful at this time. Not really sure how long construction will be going on or what exactly they…

Convenient, nice river access

This campground was clean, well maintained, and convenient location if you want to explore the Kern River up into the mountains. The campground runs along the river with some really fun little access spots if you’re lucky enough to get a river side site. The whole park is nice too, with a…

Campground

Sign said closed for winter. Looks great. Right on the River. Very large day use area next door. Rafting companies put in here. There is also a hot spring nearby.

Beautiful Campground

It is by the Kern River with paved semi level paved campsites. All beautiful except for their bathrooms. They are extremely dirty, obviously old, and uncared for. I would prepare not to use their bathrooms and showers. I would return only for the campsite beauty.

Nice to be by the river

Good campground. Needs more maintenance and facility cleaning. But, so close to a bunch of recreational opportunities. You can mtb the adjacent foothills, road bike the bike path, enjoy the river or near by Lake Ming.

Only a convenience

Practically in my backyard. The concept is very nice with the Kern River and Lake Ming so close together, but the campgrounds could use some attention. The campground table was not acceptable, I don’t think they’ve ever been cleaned. Maybe an occasional high pressure washer on the pad and tables…

Comfortable place to stay at

My husband and I lucked out and were able to make a same day reservation (someone had cancelled). We got spot #24. They were at 50% capacity due to COVID. Everything was pretty clean and well maintained. The bathrooms could have used some attention. The shower area was a bit dirty and the shower…

Awesome

Stayed at river bluff when we were passing through Bakersfield. Felt like we had the place to ourselves. It’s right on the river the property is awesome.

Really not impressive

So it’s fair to say we do quite a bit of camping around and unfortunately by far Tillie Creek did not have our love. We did our research beforehand (because we’re camping nerds like that) and reserved site 40 because it showed the most shade along with the more private of the sites.

Get to the…

Lake Front Campong

Stayed here for two nights in May. What I loved was being able to drive up literally set up camp right at the lakeside. Fellow campers were really nice, and I had no issues. I packed everything in and packed everything out, so I didn’t use any of the facilities, including the restrooms. Just a…

Great place to get away

We found this place during in our way to Johnsondale and glad we did. First of all the campsites are distant and all have great river views. This place is great for fishing trout. At this time the fish are small but in a couple more months they should be ready to fish. The best campsite would be…
