## Overview

 This location is available on a first-come, first-served basis only. Visitors are required to physically arrive at the campground to purchase and claim a site. Once on-site, you may be able to pay for your campsite(s) by scanning a QR code using the Recreation.gov mobile app, and the Scan and Pay feature. If this option is available, you will need to first download the free Recreation.gov mobile app https://www.recreation.gov/mobile-app prior to your arrival as some remote areas have limited or no cellular service.

Long Pool Recreation Area

Tent campers have the better camping loop at this campground, closer to the water, nicer sites, most with plenty of trees for shade. You can drive up to the less attractive and less conveniently located RV loop to use the showers, if you need them. Some campsites are just a football-field distance from the rocky swim beach, while others sit either nestled in the woods or overlooking the creek from above on a small bluff. The big draw is the charming swimming area with its imposing trio of rocks that swimmers love to jump off of. Pets are not permitted around or in the water, so we prefer to leave our dog at home when visiting here. Hiking from the campground is terrific, too, particularly when the water is flowing to make waterfalls. Long Pool is a must-visit camping destination for Arkansas residents.

Swimming hole perfection

This camp is in an out of the way place , but if you like in the woods to hear nature here's the place . When we went the site with electric section was not open just the primitive sites . But the restroom are open and showers are all clean . Swimming was a little chilly . We had a wonderful float trip down the piney in the kayak's I got dunked so that's how I know the water was chilly (lol) but all is good . There are lots of places to hike and fish along the bank . But I don't recommend swimming in May like I did .This place is in the National Forest ,so nature aplenty. And if you want to unplug this is the place no cell service and to me that was the best part.

Sites with no electric have the best views and trails directly to the river. Toilets are clean but showers are in very rough shape.

Me and my best friend call this place base! Always a beautiful view no matter what time of year. The trail that leads to the falls is amazing and easy to hike. There is an additional trail passing the first waterfall that is dangerous and steep but very worth the view at the top!the hot showers are always appreciated and the peace and quiet we get to endure doesn’t compare to anything. Love this place!

Long pool recreation area is a beautiful swimming area on Big Piney creek. The view from our campsite on loop A couldn't have been better. The campgrounds were spacious and private feeling and a short walk to the swimming. 

Long Pool Loop A primitive 

Long Pool Recreation Area is at the end of the road.  There are three camping loops with a total of about 50-60 sites. 20 have electric and water and the remaining are primitive.  All the sites were roomy and separated from each other.  We loved site 19 in Loop B. It was primitive but we brought an inverter generator and carried our own water although a spigot was 50’ away. The site was spacious with a flat area for a tent and had a fire pit. The site flanked Piney Creek which is good for floating, canoeing and kayaking as well as fishing.  The campground is heavily forested with Pines and Oak. We wish there would have been more hiking trails. There was only two and one of them was closed due to Covid.  It is a great location to just get away and relax at the site.

Quiet and Restful

This was a highly anticipated camping trip for us and Long Pool didn’t disappoint! We didn’t make a booking ahead so we got to go and pick a spot at the moment, and we went for one a beautiful spot overlooking the river. The campground was beautiful and had fairly clean restrooms and showers. Water wasn’t potable and it was quite brown so we just use it to wash dishes etc, but nothing else. Bring plenty of groceries and other needs since all stores are 45’/60’ away! 


Camping with a view 

Long Pool campground is top notch!! Very nice large sites that have great beefy tables and large fire grates. Our campsite site was backed up to Big Piney Creek which was beautiful. Not much for local hikes with out doing research ahead of time.

Campsites are nice. Fire rings at each site. Water and electric available in one loop. Camped primitive area. Water spouts throughout each loop. Not useable though. Very brown. We could only find one bathhouse with a shower. It wasn’t the greatest and was pretty dirty area. Access to the creek is nice and plenty of space even on busy days. No cell service which was nice to get disconnected.
