    Thompson Creek Trail Campsites

    Not for Camper’s

It’s been a while since last review so we took a chance hoping to find a spot for our teardrop and a couple of tents.

This area is great for tent camping that you are willing to hike into. We fortunately found one clearing near the trail head that was enough space for our teardrop and two tents. The spot is directly on the road but we were able to angel our truck to offer a little privacy.

The trail head was much busier than we imagined it would be and offered a nice hike with my teen daughter.

Overall a decent spot but not for car, camper, teardrop camping.

    Montgomery KOA Journey

    Great little KOA

This KOA is just outside Montgomery. It has lot of drive through spots that are very long so perfect for big rigs. They have a few back in spots and some tent spots. They also have a very nice cottages and cabins. They have a laundry facility and clean shower rooms. Plenty on space for your dog to run. It has a large fire ring with lots of chairs around it the main part of the camp but no individual camp rings. Each site has a picnic table. The staff was super friendly and accommodating (we needed a later than 11 check out and they were fine with that). They recently re did the community center where you can watch TV, visit or play games. They offer free coffee, cocoa and tea here in the community center. The have a great walking trail. They have a few full time RVers here but it is clean and quiet and we had no issues. On your drive in the driveway is a bit steep and you’ll need to swing wide to make it in but as long as you know you’ll be fine.

Fort Toulouse - Jackson Park Campground

    Closed for Reenactment

Checked out the web page prior to coming. Looked like a perfect spot for a day or two. When we arrived the campground was closed because they were doing a reenactment. It was a really cool park with a ton of history wish we could have spent the night. They have a boat launch and are right on the river. Too bad the web page didn’t say they would be closed for that weekend. Maybe we will try again later in the month

    Quail Creek RV Resort

    Quiet and Peaceful

The campground is tucked back off the freeway and is very quiet and peaceful. It provides you a level space with picnic tables, concrete pads and fire rings. You can buy firewood and they have a bath house and laundry. It has excellent WIFI. The campground is on a golf course and has an Inn right on the course. There is a great playground and dog area. There are some long term campers here but it is clean and everyone was very friendly. Be careful driving here the road is very narrow and no shoulders. We met a school bus on the road and ended up having to go into the pit next to the road to avoid the bus that was in our lane😳.
I would definitely recommend this campground for families or people who are full time RVers!

Pelican Nest RV Resort & Campground

    Great little RV park

Pelican nest is a smaller RV park. We visited in the off season (late October) and the weather was beautiful. The owners were very nice and the spaces were a good size and clean. Water, electric and sewer hookups were well maintained. Getting in was super easy and they have a few pull through spaces as well as back in. It is in close proximity to a few really good restaurants and a nice wine shop/restaurant. Beach is a nice 1/2 mile walk with a boardwalk for most of the way.

    Jones Farm RV Park

    Amazing campground!!

Let me tell you a little something about the jones farm rv park, if your looking for a peaceful location for yourself or family for a short or long period of time this is exactly the place for you! The owners are the nicest people you’ll ever meet, the campground is clean and well maintained, utility hookups on site, pet friendly (leashed), and very quiet. Beautiful location just outside the Huntsville area but not too far.

    Doc's RV Park

    Close to everything

Older campground but very well maintained. Nice clean pool and laundry facilities. Showers have a nice size with lots of hot water and a ledge so the water doesn’t go all over the floor. Clubhouse has full size appliances at your disposal for baking large dishes. Most sites are level and a few have trees on both sides. 28 miles of paved bike/walking paths connect all the way to Orange Beach and the parking lot of a major grocery store and Walmart is just across the street. Lots of shopping and restaurants.
