ScoutThis was the Memorial Day pick for 2025, first off when it hits curfew its super quiet, there are a lot of playground areas for the kids, the pool was working and it was heated, the price for 5 bundles of wood is reasonable and we used a lot because this was a cold windy weekend.
One complaint was the lady in registration didn't give me a window card which I didn't think about til the security person wouldn't let me get back to my campsite, this was after I got back from taking my wife out for breakfast. I had to go back into registration to get one.
The second complaint was they didn't cut the grass so there was a mix of tall grass and dandelion stems.
The third complaint was since there's no full hookup, they needed someone to control the traffic that comes from two different directions going to the dual dump stations. There's no honor system, especially on a holiday weekend, my assistant, my wife, reminded the driver that we were waiting before he got in the other line. I tried to be nice to them, which I am always in public, and told the drivers wife they needed a traffic controller, but I got the snob treatment anyway. The guard shack was right there too but they just stand there and bs while this is going on,
This campground is between two major cities and I won't go back because of that, too many stick your nose up, dirty look types around that park.
GuideThis is the only RV site in the Milwaukee metro area. It was nice, clean, showers and laundry. Staff is friendly.
Summer months May through April you do have to book 2 nights minimum. That was a little annoying as it already seemed high price of $60 per night.
Was a decent place for our stop in Milwaukee though.
TravelerIt is quite nice and pretty out here. A lot of amenities you’ll find at other campgrounds. It is very close to main roads as I heard traffic all day and sometimes sirens. But honestly pretty good spot.
GuideThe park is very pretty. Walking along the trails, you can see where it gets its name! Lots of cool ledges and rock outcrops. We saw a moderate amount of birds and heard a bunch of critters (owls, a fox (?!)) one night.
We camped at non-electric site J. It was nice and big. We originally were to be at site G but it was way too small to fit our cars, tents, etc.
Pros:
- Quiet and decently spaced sites.
- Clean vault toilets. Did not use the shower house/other facilities.
- The firepits are flush with the ground and have cooking grates.
- Easy access to trails.
Cons:
- I'm not a trailer camper, but if I were I would not appreciate the vibes of the electric sites. The sites are very close together and walking through it felt like going through a festival or circus more than a campground.
- The firewood was a bit pricey compared to other parks.
TravelerStayed at park while traveling through the area. Needed an overnight place to stay. Several miles from highway. Place was quiet with large lots. Potable water and dump station available. Electric only on lots. Showers and restrooms available. Park surrounded by farm fields with geese landing all around. Decent place.
ScoutThis is our favorite place to camp. It feels like you are in the middle of nowhere, but it is close to everything. It has the electrical hookups that we need and has a bath house that is close to where you camp (hundreds of feet versus getting into a car and driving to it). It has lots of groomed and ungroomed walking trails. It has a boat ramp and a small store and restaurant. It allows dogs and the rangers keep the site relatively quiet, especially at night. And within 5 miles of the campground, you have the amenities that you need in case you forgot something along the way. We love going there.
ScoutYou can camp year around in this campground. Most recent 2 times were winter camping. No host so buying wood is an issue, but pick a site on the edge and there is more than enough free. Bring a saw. Nice place for solitude. No rowdies in winter. Close to hiking. 10 minutes from a town if needed.
