I had a short but lovely stay at this campground. My site was right on the lake - it was easy to get to and clean. (I booked a site without electric or water.) Restrooms and facilities were tidy and the staff at the front desk were incredibly polite. Would 100 percent go back.
Labor Day weekend car camping at Medoc Mountain State Park campground! Had a great time camping and hiking. Spacious campsite with gravel parking space, gravel tent pad, picnic table, fire ring with grill and lantern pole. We were fortunate that we had shade at our site most of the day.
Convenient to 95 during our drive to Florida. Office run well. Could use some updating. While we didn’t use pool or other amenities, we had a private shady spot up in the woods (C1). Will stay here again.
Loved this CG. Have stayed at JC Cooper (like), Nutbush (stay away!), Bullocksville (like), Kimball Point (love too, depends on site though). Campsites are well spaced. Quiet at night. Bathrooms were adequate, but not terribly new which is why I did t give this five stars. Lake is fantastic from…

Even though it was a very crowded weekend, this site felt pretty private since it is set back off the road a bit. It also had a good amount of forest next to it. Lots of room to park and accommodate a large group. Glad we brought canopies for some shade since the entire site isn't shaded.

Site was shaded, private, and right next to the river, so we had our own private access for swimming and bathing. Plenty of room for several tents and lots of parking space. Plenty of land to walk around and check out the farm.
Bathrooms were very clean and just a short walk from the site. Hosts…

Camping with our Taxa Cricket; sites are slightly inclined, with some better than others— the tent and small camper sites are deeper in the woods (and flatter!). Very clean and tidy.
This was our shakedown for our new camper. We found the site to be very neat and well cared for. The trails are very nice. There are lots of nice camping spots including some pull through sites. It was hot when we camped — but there is lots of late afternoon shade. It seems that higher numbers…
Nice and quiet campground. Plenty of bugs including pesky horse flies. We stayed at a spot that had a path down to the beach. Would stay here again. Nice views. Water was clear. Some sites are on a slope so check your site first. The recreation.gov site has pictures of the lots.
This place is great and unlike anywhere I’ve been in VA/NC in terms of the lake. The water is crystal clear with sandy beaches. It’s beautiful. Campsites are massive with potable water at each, and almost all have a fantastic view of the lake and/or are on the lake. One downside is there is no…

We stayed in site 4 which was fairly level if you park in the right spot. The bathrooms were clean and the hosts were friendly. No cell service, but if you go to the Visitor’s center during the day they have WiFi. The history of the location is interesting. We won’t spoil it for you.

Spacious, level site spaced well away from next site. Fabulous hiking and the staff are so welcoming!
This was our first time camping in Va in our Popup.
This is a nice spot. Easy access to hiking trails and swimming or fishing in the lake.
The bathrooms are clean and they have a decent dish washing station.
All RV sites have H2O and electric.
A few of the sites did not seem to be very…
