Wahweap Campground & RV Park — Glen Canyon National Recreation Area

I’ve stayed at this campground, which is located in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and run by Aramark, twice. The views are exceptional and that’s why I’ve paid the nearly $100 a night to stay there.

The campground is lovely - concrete pads that are nicely spaced. Each site has a table, grill, and campfire ring. Each loop has its own bathroom. There is a campground store with showers and a cash only laundromat that is located very near the lower loops, but might be more of a drive for campers who in the higher loops.

The issue with this campground is that the store closes at 5pm and if you arrive afterwards, you aren’t getting your tokens for the shower (so you have to pay) or the WiFi password. You are just getting the view - and it’s magnificent!

It’s important to note you are paying a resort fee when you camp here and I think (but might be wrong) that entitles you to using the resort’s pool. The location is super close the beach, the Glen Canyon Dam, and boat rentals.

Large CG run by a pvt consessions. $30 nite for no hookups. Most loops are full hookups. Only loop 4 was open for dry camping RVs and tents. Sites are packed in together. Large fancy restrooms.

This is a decently large campsite for all types of vehicles tucked in nice about a half mile from the lake. Large campsites that were pretty well spread out.

There was laundry and showers here, but I wouldn't count on the showers working with warm water. I took a 9 minute shower and the whole time it was freezing cold.

Nice hosts and shop for the campsite though.

Great NPS Campground. Full hookups, Laundry, showers, gift shop, very quiet.

We stayed for two nights and weren't very happy.

The location is great, but the employees were unmotivated, unfriendly and slow. The prices for hull hockup are high with $88 a night. We went for a dry site for $30 which is fair. WiFi isn't working, showers cost extra and the only store closes at 4pm. Park fee of $30 would apply if you don't have the pass. I think there are better alternatives for a nice stay.

Great spot withing view of Lake Powell. Tent Campsites are spread out and have flat bordered area to set up. Most have there own table. Staff are great and the store is well stocked.

Great campground! We had a large beautiful site and a great location for exploring all there is to do in Lake Powell! Highly recommended!

The campground itself was clean and facilities well maintained. There is very little shade in the park and you have to drive to get down to the lake. Even if you stay at the resort, the water is so low it’s a HIKE down to the beach.

We stayed in a self contained RV or tent site. We arrived at 6PM and the store was closed and a sheet was posted with our name and site number that also informed us if we didn't check-in first thing the next day we would be considered as vacating and our stay canceled. Not only was the store closed very early but when we arrived the next morning we found the store was operating on Pacific time despite the near by Navajo nation and Utah being mountain time but that was not listed on any sign. The RV/tent loops are very far from the camp store/welcome center. Showers are at the camp store building far away from the tent and contained sites which need it more than the full hookup sites. Showers are a process unto themselves, first the sheet and email confirmation said a 15 min shower but has been changed to 8 (understandable due to water shortages) so the signs need to be updated. You need small bills to get tokens to operate the showers then you have to buy 2 tokens for one 8 min shower. We chose to share a family shower and split time to save on the shower debacle. The campground is in a great location being close to Lake Powell, GC Dam, Page, and many other sites and hikes. Sites are roomy back in not pull through. Each loop has its own bathroom house.

The campgrounds are gorgeous! With amazing views of the canyon and Lake Powell I couldn’t get enough. Only two annoying things: 1) they didn’t let us check in until 11:30 when we showed up at 10:30, but it seemed where we were out there was no one in the first place (the lady at the desk could’ve been nicer) 2. The showers are token operated and $2 gets you 8 minutes. Paid $30 to dry camp and still had to pay for showers. Other than that it was a beautiful place to stay. We even walked down about a mile to Lake Powell and took a dip by the boat launch after a sweaty day of hiking.

We are in camp ground #4 in a self contained camper van. No hook ups for $27 a night but there are very nice showers close by and bathrooms scattered around the campground .

This was a great place to land for a number of days. We were at the sites with and without hook ups. The bathrooms were well maintained and conveniently located. The office and gift shop had everything you might need. The laundry was well maintained as well. Showers cost 2 tokens that were purchased in the laundry room which was open 24/7. The views were beautiful and it was a busy but didn’t feel crowded even though it was full to capacity.

Clean park with plenty of full hookups near the lake. Each loop has a bathroom, no showers. Will stay here again.

We stayed the first night in D32. Full hookups on a nice concrete pad. Clean, good power and water. The dump at the campsite was perfect. But my price with a senior discount was over $80. For that, I would expect cable and maybe an on-site pool. Little rich for my blood.

The next day, we moved to a dry campsite, 4-105. This is boondocking with a picnic table. Not complaining about that at all as we prefer boondocking. But at $27 a night, still a little pricey.

There’s access to a shower and laundry facility. (After 3 weeks in the road, we were desperate for laundry.)

On the plus, the view over Lake Powell was fantastic. We came here as we extended our road trip and I didn’t have a lot of campground research time. If I came back to this area, I would do more homework.

$27. Clean bathrooms. Shower extra but hot and clean (spray - not normal pressure). Goathead THORNS are everywhere in loop 3! Do not camp here. They will get into everything - shoes carpet/rugs, camper and ruin your trip!

My wife and I recently stayed here for a night and were very pleased. Our spot was perfectly level which was awesome because we pulled in kinda late at sunset towing our Airstream. Set up was a breeze as all hook-ups are conveniently located and in great shape. Each spot has a fire pit and table, as well as a small charcoal grill.

This campground has great views of Lake Powell and the surrounding red cliffs and formations. Sunrise was lovely the next morning.

For late arrivals, the registration office is closed but they post your name and site number on the door if you booked ahead. If you didn’t reserved a spot, they have a list of available sites that you can assign yourself, and then return in the morning to pay.

Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for full hook-ups with great views.

4-Stars because it’s a little pricey.

Love the location great level spots. Spots are expensive. Cost makes sense in high season. We are here in March and prices seem high.

Whaweap camp is very nice. Regrouped after 8 days boondocking from Steamboat.

This spot is the premiere location for visiting Lake Powell with full amenities at your campsite.

The grounds are at the Southern end of the lake, close to Wahweap Marina, Stateline Boat Launch & Wahweap rentals.

We visited at the start of the off-season in August and experienced a very quiet park at around 50% capacity.

The spots are spacious and offer nice room for campers. Sites are paved and level with thoughtful and easy access for back-ins. Clean picnic benches, fire rings and grill made it easy to enjoy the evenings within view of the lake.

We were in a full hookup site in Loop C and the hookups were very reliable. Lots of bathrooms scattered throughout the grounds. The front office made check in east and had a decent store for forgotten necessities or souvenirs.

A walk through the campground would lead to a beachfront pathway, but the walk is not short. Probably about a full mile considering the low water levels of the lake. Instead, to reach the water, I’d recommend Lone Rock beach just down the street off highway 89.

I also highly recommend doing a bit of research to understand this area and how the lake was created. There are some hidden gem spots nearby that can help to appreciate the area and avoid the crowds at the most popular places. Carl Hayden Visitor Center was closed during our visit due to Covid, but we are hoping to visit in the future. 

Overall price is a bit high, but we knew what to expect being so close to the lake with full hookups and within the park boundary.

We camped here for a few nights and had a really nice time. There is little shade at the campsites, but there are places you can go for shade. The laundry room is air conditioned and has outlets to charge devices. The people working in the store and check in were super friendly. Would definitely recommend if you need somewhere to camp at Lake Powell.

Beautiful views. Fun place to camp and swim. But also very hot with very little shade. It was also a pretty long walk to get to the water. A bit pricey, but it is a National Park, so you have to except to pay more.

Beautiful location, nice flat paved sites, good size sites, fire pit and grill! Problem was bad cell service, internet as well as having to pay for showers that didn’t work and 2/3 of the dryers in laundry didn’t work. Beautiful location for sunrise and sunset!

Check-in took a LONG time! Upon check-in, the staff member seemed very confused with questions we asked. Booking online said 25’-30’ RVs were allowed in the self contained RV/tent area, depending on the site. We knew we were taking a chance on not finding a fitting site with a 30’ rig. When asked if the site she assigned would accommodate our rig, she said “um I think so” then handed us a map with our number circled and tried to send us on our way. We asked her to please verify and it took some time and help from another team member to determine it wouldn’t fit. It took about 15 mins for this process and to eventually find a site we’d fit in. When asked where we could fill our freshwater tank, she replied “oh I didn’t charge you for that! Hang on!” She thought we meant that we wanted a full hook up (none were available) and then proceeded to ask us for additional money. We clarified and asked where the dump station was and she said “but you just got here?!”

Other than that process being less than ideal, the views are fantastic. We ended up with site 101 and had a perfect view of the lake from our windows. The walk to the beach is a little lengthy but worth it. Bathrooms were clean, laundry is cheap, and showers are $2 and token operated for 8 mins.

One other thing, not the CG’s fault...I’ve never had so many people walk through a campsite before!!! It drove our dogs crazy! We even had men from across the road come over to collect dried/dead brush from our “yard”. And when I say our yard, I mean I could’ve reached out the window and touched them. Our site is close to the bathroom but instead of using the sidewalk or trail 10ft away, people walked right past us. We were sitting at our picnic table one night and had people stroll right on by about 5’ away, never even acknowledging us.

This campground has excellent facilities and is well maintained. The lake is so low that its nearly a mile from campsite.

Your basic campground, tent sites, RV sites with full hook ups, walk in sites and some group sites. Nice views of Lake Powell and the sandstone. Close to Page if you need to stock up on anything go there. Flush toilets and running water in bathrooms, which are cleaned daily. Outdoor sink for dishes and water in tent sites. There is one swim beach accessible from the campsite but it is 3/4 of a mile walk just from the beach parking lot and downhill on sand, not super fun to get to with a stroller, 2 toddlers, and all the beach gear. Definitely would be a more fun location if you plan on renting a motor boat or jet ski otherwise it is hard to get much of a lake experience. Make reservations online in advance!

Nice camp ground if your looking to upgrade from primitive camping. They have nice hot showers which are coin operated. There is a general store in the middle of campground full of information about lake Powell and lots of supplies.

I just toured the facility, did not stay. Seems like a typical big campground.$30 day no hookups, $68 day full hookups. Facility seems well maintained and clean. Only three stars because I did not stay, so gave it a middle rating.

Gorgeous setting and beautiful walks just outside of the campground. Unfortunately the high price which is seemingly irrespective of what site you have detracts as does a campground which, yes, has some sites with space and incredible views but also have some of the most packed in sites we’ve been to yet (and that’s saying something). In the spot we were in, you could reach out and touch your neighbor’s rig from your window leading to no privacy, little space, and unfortunately no views beyond the RVs around you.
