Best Campgrounds near Stonewall, TX

We enjoyed staying at the River Trail Cottages and RV Park.  It is very close to downtown Kerrville (1 mile away) and is also next to a nicely paved River Trail, which is great for walking and biking.  The Guadelupe River is adjacent to the trail.  The park has outdoor fire pits, grills and picnic tables that are convenient.  Last but not least, the grounds are peaceful and offers a nice in-town location.

Such a great park. Nice and clean campsites are really nice. Hiking trails were excellent, and challenging bathrooms were clean. Cell service with T-Mobile was between 4G and 5G, depending on where you were at. No Wi-Fi, I don't know about TV signals. I didn't camp. I only hiked the trails.

Well, you can camp at this state park, I did not stay there. I went there to hike the trails and see the dinosaur tracks. The park is very clean. There's plenty of parking if you don't wanna camp. While not trying to be a skeptic. I wasn't very impressed with what they call dinosaur tracks. You'll have to judge for yourself. I have T-Mobile cell service and the trail that was leading to the dinosaur tracks. My cell service did have some dead spots.

This is a great park very clean and beautiful. Access to the Guadalupe river for fishing. Campgrounds were nice and clean. Most of the state parks in Texas don't have Wi-Fi. Even the ones that say they have Wi-Fi have extremely poor Wi-Fi like not having it at all. I don't know. Why it would not let me edit the phone service. But if you. Have T-Mobile you should know that this campground has 5G. And 4G in certain areas. I was able to use the internet text message and make and receive calls.

Took the family and had a blast. Fishing, hiking, and geocaching was great. We will be back

Quiet clean park with great, friendly staff.  $17 a day is based on $525 monthly rate. Common bath house and laundry is always clean and ready to use. No amenities such as pool or hot tub or overhead RV shades. Wide, mostly level, gravel pull thru and back in sites. Sites up on the hill get a nice breeze and feel secluded. Many are monthly residents but all RVs and spots are kept clean and friendly! Close to the lake, local rivers and 20min drive to New Braunfels. Sitting right in hill country gives amazing views and drives in all directions.

This is a beautiful park with tons of activities and things to do. People are extremely friendly, sites were well maintained though site number 82 was a little narrow.

Park is close to another state park-Longhorn Cavern, which is also a great place to visit.

Tons of well-maintained, hiking trails, two lighted fishing docks, nice wide, boat ramp, an abundance of wildlife, the list goes on. Great place for families, or couples looking for a quick getaway. The nearby town of Burnet is home to a great Air Force Museum, and has some great restaurants as well.

Small, clean campground with hookups. Great place for an overnight stop or a longer stay when visiting the area!

We are seasoned and well traveled RVers for over 20 years and here are our thoughts and review of Arch Ray Resort. We booked two nights at Arch Ray Resort. While it was a very nice campground with level gravel sites it lacked in the resort aspect. We understand this is a new campground/resort and the amount of emails and phone calls we got to tell us so was a little annoying especially since none of those things are open. The email was very specific on checking in with gate guard to receive wristbands and packet. There is no gate guard and no gate. Luckily we knew the site number from our email confirmation so we just pulled to our site where a packet was attached. We knew the clubhouse and pool were not open as they are currently under construction in the site next door where the main campground will be. These sights seem to be for future short term camping potentially. Also there is no restrooms, shower house, laundry or anything made available. Also the trail to walk to the restaurant, brewery and distillery is not marked or not marked well as we only knew about it because of campground map. While the campground is nice and the sites are level the $29 resort fee should not have been charged as there are zero resort amenities at this time. The administration fee of $4.46 and the reservation guarantee of $14.58 to able to cancel should something arise are all excessive.

We enjoyed the restaurant, brewery and distillery and the food and drinks were good but as for staying at the campground/resort we will not be staying there again. This could have been a 5 star review

This site was very clean and the bath houses were tidy and neat. We stayed right on the water and it was beautiful. Park staff was present and we would see them often driving around and checking on things.

We stayed at spot 50 in the west look. It was extremely hard to back into, there is a tree right in front that you have to angle around. Site was somewhat level. Bathrooms were a little far away, you could see them from the spot, but it was about a.2 mile walk. Not a lot of street lights throughout the campground made things nice and quiet at night. The site had good Verizon cell service, around 25-50 mbps. The Tmobile service was around the same. The lake was beautiful and there were a ton of trails and spots to sightsee. The big draw for this campground is the proximity to Longhorn Caverns state park, which is a must see and do. Overall the campground was clean, relatively quiet, right next on the lake, with a ton of activities. I would recommend staying at one of the other areas that have bathrooms closer and better sites.

Beautiful location and facilities. It was difficult for late arrival to see and erroneously enter private cow pastures. Because we arrived late, we had no instructions on locked shower room. Get instructions be c or arrival. Quiet and relaxing. Worth it to spend more time hear.
