There’s a small, rustic campsite at the head of a long gravel road (very hilly, good for a hearty hike) that leads down to a forest trail/hunting ground.
The camping area itself has about eight designated tent/car sites each with a fire pit. There’s a pit toilet (single person capacity) on-site.
Only a one nighter while heading east. Lucky to get spot on Friday night. Nice level concrete pads but definitely a bit crowded. Lots of big rigs. Very nice folks who checked us in. We seem well connected. Nice old downtown of St. Charles. Worth a walk. Art and stuff. Below the pattern for STL and…
We stopped in after a day of driving and no campground reservation. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us and found us a spot for the night. It would have been easier for them to just say “We’re full” they could see we were spent. The restrooms and showers were nice. Total cost for…
Sundermeir is like a little RV oasis in the middle of downtown St. Charles. Close to just about anything you want to do in the area. Grounds are well maintained and have a walking trail that takes you to along the river. There was some construction going on along the path when I was there but all…
Came after Labor Day and campground was virtually empty. Large campground however the sites are not that private if you come during a busy period. There was few bathroom facilities for such a large campground and they definitely needed some attention. I would not stay there again
It was a nice 5 day stay posts of room for your tent and parking. Play ground was very clean and pavilion had lots of outlets and picnic tables.
We pulled in here around 10:30pm, and it was a little unclear where to go. There is no after hours check in, and a number handwritten on a sign had no answer when we called. There is no map, Signs are missing, and there is no guidance where to go, or even what number our site was when we found one.…
This was the best campground. We stayed over the labor day weekend and the campground was full of activities for the kids. There was a live band and karaoke. The pool was clean and the grounds were very clean and nice. The pond was a great place to relax and watch the kids reel in fish after fish.…

Stayed here two nights mid Labor Day weekend, so it was quite busy, crowded and noisy. The Caverns themselves are a very cool experience but the campground itself isn’t ideal. It’s first come first serve, no designated spots, so some people do end up close to each other.
Great room between campsites and water hook ups are not too far away. Bring plenty of hose length.
Yes, we all want the latest fancy schmancy. If there are no spots, go to KOA every time for a good campground. They use angles to give more privacy. They have patios and grills and old trees for shade.
We stayed here to break up our longer trip and were pleasantly surprised by the miles of trails our dogs loved. The pull through site was mostly level and made for quick setup and teardown. We were also pleased that AT&T and T-Mobile were good enough for remote work and some light videogames…
Stayed one night as well drove across the country. Nice peaceful campground tucked back not far from the city. Primitive sites were mostly empty and we had plenty of room. Wish we had more time but I'd stop by again.
