"Traveled to Colorado from NJ and this is spot is really breathtaking and relaxing."
Showed up on a Thursday and stayed to Sunday, was warned about weekenders but it hasn’t been too busy since it’s early May! Be prepared for that last 10mi drive on pitted out dirt road, I haul a 30’ TT and it had me grinding my teeth, not an extreme drive but quite an annoying one with my house behind me.
Its an OHV and dirtbike area and nobody has any common courtesy. They will ride loops around your camper. Right off the road with non stop traffic.
Easy spot to hit that is slightly more off the road than a lot of the other roadside spots along the road. Plenty of solid spots all up and down there in general.
This area is great! There are a lot of sites to choose from and some that are super open. Some within the trees where I stayed. There are many sites with beautiful views and comfortable space. Fire rings at all sites and not much traffic. I slept great here and was very comfortable. Will definitely camp here again
Campsites were nice and well established but pretty close to one another. Campsites 2/3/4 are all pretty close to each-other and you can hear the other sites. It’s a 0.5 mile hike in to the campsite, so plan and pack accordingly. Campsites are along a road (private access only). There was a trash can at the campground which was nice. Also bear boxes. A signed noted moose sightings.
The trailhead parking lot is actually right off of i70. So can be a bit noisy but there are two site on the side of the parking lot that have fire pits. Lots of traffic through the parking lot and people start hiking around 4am so you'll see lights and hear people. Not a bad stay but unfortunately there was a lot of trash around and the early wakeup was a little tough.
It’s a beautiful area for a day hike, but as a campsite it’s explicitly “no camping allowed”. Plus, the actual geo-location listed here is past a gate on a private road (with private homes) so it’s just not a camping situation.
I slept ok and the spot was nice and big. A little bit of traffic but nothing crazy. Someone pulled in twice and was shining a light at me which made me uncomfortable but they left the second time and didn't come back. Prob would not stay here again
Might be accessible for other vehicles but the road is BAD... Directions with GPS are a bit confusing and leads you to private property first
