Best RV Parks & Resorts near Georgetown, CO

Georgetown provides multiple RV facilities with hookup options throughout the area. Idaho Springs RV Resort & Campground offers 39 sites with electric, water, sewer, and fifty-amp hookups for travelers. Clear Creek RV Park in Golden operates from May 1 to September 30 with full hookups and laundry facilities, accommodating moderate-sized RVs but not necessarily big rigs. Tiger Run RV Resort near Breckenridge features pull-through RV pads and can accommodate larger vehicles with fifty-amp service, sewer connections, and water hookups. Cottonwood RV Campground in Idaho Springs remains open year-round with basic amenities including electric hookups and dump station access, though it lacks showers and restroom facilities. "The rv site was extremely clean and maintained. They even escort you to your spot when you arrive," noted one visitor about their experience at a local RV park.

Mountain terrain affects RV access to several parks in the region. Many local roads require careful navigation with larger vehicles, particularly those traveling to higher elevation sites. Sites at Dakota Ridge RV Park and Applewood RV Resort provide concrete pads, though spaces can be tight for maneuvering larger rigs. Most parks near Georgetown require reservations during peak summer months and fall foliage season. Dump stations are available at nearly all established RV parks, though availability varies at dispersed locations. Cell service remains inconsistent throughout the mountain corridor, with better coverage near Idaho Springs and Golden than in more remote locations. Winter operations are limited primarily to Cottonwood RV Campground and a few other facilities prepared for cold weather camping. One visitor cautioned that "the road got rough" beyond certain points on forest roads, recommending "anything bigger than a sprinter van" avoid some dispersed areas entirely.

    Denver West-Central City KOA

    Mountain High

Yes Mountain High!! 8100’ high. 7 miles off I-70 at Idaho Springs. 25 miles into outskirts of Denver. Don’t worry they have oxygen! Not kidding!!

Nice campground, friend staff, laundry, fun little gift shop with some food stuffs, beer and liquor. Pizza cooked there but we didn’t try it.

Our space was a big rig space on concrete pad with ample seating, a table, a fire pit, and a propane grill stove… use you own propane! Full hook ups. It was still reaching freezing at night and so we didn’t hook up our water.

    Lone Rock Campground

    Line Rock review

We love this campground due to the river access. The do have potable water but it tastes pretty bad, so brIng drinking/cooking water. Most, if not all sites, have a picnic table and fire pit. During reservable season (Memorial Day to Labor Day I believe), the campground host usually has firewood for sale. No cell service, no electric. We hear that the cafe In Deckers may be getting wifi. The campground is open all year but the water is shut off in the winter. Sites are close to each other.

Clean restrooms and showers. Playground and dog friendly. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

Glacier Basin Campground — Rocky Mountain National Park

    Wonderful Stay

I have a 22’ travel trailer I pull behind an F150. Since this campground is inside Rocky Mountain National Park, the roads are all paved.

The campground sites are situated around one-way driving loops, which are quite narrow. Best to pay attention to which side of the loop your site is on so your trailer door doesn’t open up onto the road. I think they error on the side of caution when it comes to the size of trailer fitting into each spot. At least for mine. They said max 26’ (trailer + tow vehicle), but I’m closer to 32’ and I fit fine. That may not be true of all campsites though. There is parking very close by if your tow vehicle can’t squeeze into the site.

My site didn’t have a whole lot of trees, but they planted a bunch of small ones to try and fix this years from now. Sites were level and had lots of space. Each had a fire pit and picnic table.

There were no hookups and no cell service (Verizon). They did have trash drop offs, water for cleaning pans and dishes, and bathrooms. It was very quiet at night. Generators are allowed but only for a couple times a day during short windows.

Glacier Basin campground is just a few miles from the Bear Lake trailhead. It was very nice to stay inside the park. Vehicle passes to get into National Parks were still required when I stayed and the lines to get in were very long and slow.

Elk Meadows Lodge & RV Resort

    Beautiful View / Accessible Location

Good Sam discount CO RV Parks are all more on the expensive side, but Elk Meadow is on the lower end of those around them. Great access to the RMNP(5 mins max!), as well as to downtown. Beautiful views of Longs Peak! Nearest grocery is close(5 miles away). Elk occasionally pass thru the front area which was really cool! There is also a little area next to the RV park where I think they park stored vehicles and it's a great place to walk. It's dirt, but about the size of a track.

GUEST SERVICES= great customer service! Friendly staff anytime I went into the office; they shuffled around to accommodate out extended stay on the spot so we wouldn't have to relocate and could stay at our site the whole time we were in town. We appreciated that!

WIFI/ CELL SERVICE= provided, but not reliable. We used our AT&T hotspot the entire time bc we work remote. Cell service was 4 bars and worked fine in the entire campground.

LAUNDRY: Not the cleanest laundry room we've been too, but it worked. There was a soap and water station in the laundry I used to wipe down the inside of the washer(by the chlorox holder) before using. The trashcan always seemed to be overflowing with lent and trash, but again, clean enough.

SITE: Wide roads and turns; easy to navigate throughout the campground; quiet; picnic table; spacious, no shade, needed levels on one side of our RV; dirt roads throughout so, unless it rained, it was very dusty and so we didn't open our windows as much as we wanted with the fresh mountain air. When it rained and calmed down the dust, then it was perfect to open the windows.

East Portal Campground at Estes Park

    Clean, quiet and beautiful.

Family friendly campground at the end of a quiet road near RMNP. Quiet, no generators heard as big rigs won’t fit! Tents, vans, car camping and camper trailers fit well. Clean bathrooms, hot showers, friendly hosts, ice and fire wood for sale. Big playground and not crazy expensive.

    Gore Creek Campground

So good, I don’t want to tell you about it.

Gore Creek Campground is a true gem of the National Forest Service. If you are looking for a great boondocking location that is close to great trails and breathtaking views, this just might be the place for you. The entrance to the campground is ~2 miles off of I-70 Exit 180 on Bighorn Road. Only 10 minutes from Vail Village and 25 minutes from Frisco.

We stayed in Site #8, which provided plenty of room for our 22’ travel trailer and pickup. The sites each have a large picnic table and fire ring.

Pit toilets are spread through the campground and were very clean and well maintained. The campground hosts do a great job of keeping everything tidy and looking great. They also have bundles of firewood for sale for $7 at their site just inside the entrance to the campground.

I can’t say enough about this place. It’s probably my favorite spot to camp in Colorado. I almost didn’t post this review for fear of the secret getting out.

    Moraine Loop Campground

    Water front campsites are gorgeous

About 45 minutes from Grand Lake entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park. 9 mile dirt road to get to the campground. Nice level sites each with picnic/tent area. Vault toilets were clean. No water fill, dump stations, showers or flush toilets. Hosts said the camp was packed from 4th July until Aug 20th

    Round Mountain

    Great area for OHV

    Round mountain campground

$20 per night. There are no electrical hook ups or sewer hook ups for big rigs. It looks a little bit like dispersed camping. Each site has a picnic table and a designated fire pit. The sites are pull through in some situations. Not all of them, but some of them. There are restrooms on site with your credibly clean. The camp management seems to do a good job of keeping the area well organized. It’s nestled down in the trees and he’s very pretty and secluded. The issue in this area is that it is all designated for OHV usage so there is some noise. We pulled it on a Thursday afternoon and could see three or four ATVs riding around. The campground has designated quiet hours from 10 PM to 6 AM, but that won’t stop you from getting disturbed during the daytime. The other issue in this area as there is no firewood. They sell bundles for eight dollars at the managers office. My recommendation would be to come well prepared and bring lots of your own firewood. At the time we got in their water pump was also not working, but they were selling bottled water again at the Campground managers station.

Guide to Georgetown

Rocky Mountain RV accommodations around Georgetown, Colorado sit at elevations between 8,500 and 9,500 feet, with most parks remaining open from late spring through early fall. Winter camping options are limited to lower elevation sites with heated facilities. The area receives heavy snowfall from November through April, making dispersed camping difficult outside established RV parks during colder months.

What to do

Explore mountain towns: Visit the nearby historic town of Nederland, just a short drive from Peak to Peak RV Park. "Kind of a weird 'campground'. Never actually saw or met the owner/grounds keeper/anyone but reserved online... it was a minute walk from knotted root brewery and the rest of the town."

Fishing access: Multiple campgrounds provide fishing opportunities within walking distance. At Middlefork RV Resort, campers can "do a little fishing on the stream fed trout pond" and some sites offer direct river access. The resort also features on-site gold panning for those interested in prospecting activities.

Hiking networks: Several campgrounds connect to extensive trail systems. Applewood RV Resort provides "access to Prospect lake so a good place to walk dogs" and is situated next to "beautiful hiking and biking trails right next to the facility." Trail difficulty ranges from flat, paved paths to more challenging mountain terrain.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Spruce Lake RV Park maintains "extra clean facilities" according to visitors. Another camper noted, "The bathrooms are very clean. The staff is helpful. Walk up the hill to the open space adjacent to the campground for a view of the mountains and the city."

Location convenience: Proximity to both urban amenities and mountain recreation ranks high among camper preferences. One visitor at Idaho Springs RV Resort & Campground appreciated the "beautiful setting" with a "great view of the mountains right outside our window. Facilities are clean and the showers are nice and large with plenty of room to shower and get dressed."

Wildlife viewing: Multiple campgrounds offer opportunities to see local wildlife. At Spruce Lake RV Park, visitors reported, "We had Elk & deer in the campground which is nice to see." The campground's location allows for wildlife sightings while maintaining access to town amenities.

What you should know

Space limitations: Many RV parks in the region have tight spacing between sites. One camper at Dakota Ridge RV Park observed that "Campers are close together, but there are some mature trees." Another noted, "Must be an experienced driver to navigate the tight lots and roads. Smaller sites and not much grass for dogs."

Reservation requirements: Peak season (June-September) typically requires advance booking, often 3-6 months ahead for weekend stays. Some parks allow online reservations while others require phone calls.

Mixed wi-fi quality: Internet connectivity varies dramatically between parks. At Clear Creek RV Park, visitors reported "Great WiFi" while others found connectivity limited to specific areas. One camper noted of a different facility that "the wifi was barely usable, even for just using your phone, which is not unusual for a campground."

Tips for camping with families

Pool facilities: Sun Outdoors Rocky Mountain offers extensive recreation options. "They have an amazing pool! Bowling alley, arcade, restaurant, bars (yes more than one!) they had live music, they have fishing, and dog parks, bike rentals, daily trash pick up from your campsite, firewood delivery, play grounds, golf carts."

Activity planning: Schedule around afternoon thunderstorms common from June through August. One visitor recommended "the kids will be entertained here, and it's a short drive to Rocky Mountain National park."

Budget considerations: Campground rates vary significantly based on amenities and location. One visitor noted their experience at an RV park: "I guess the $74.00 a night is what got me." Others mentioned rates between $40-$120 per night depending on hookups and season.

Tips from RVers

Leveling challenges: Many mountain sites require additional leveling blocks. "The A3 site chosen is gravel with a hole or two and significantly tilted low to the front left... requiring a 4 high stack." Another visitor noted, "Sites at Middlefork RV Park are all gravel, ours was nice and level."

Elevation considerations: RV performance changes significantly at higher elevations. Refrigerators may struggle above 8,000 feet, requiring manual adjustments. Propane usage typically increases by 25-40% compared to lower elevations.

Full hookup availability: Multiple rv parks Georgetown, Colorado area provide complete services. "We stayed at site 39 and it was perfectly level with beautiful surroundings. Great view of the mountains right outside our window." Some parks offer 30-amp service only while others provide 50-amp connections for larger rigs.
