    Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA

Quiet, peaceful, close to all the things

We stopped here for a couple nights to go to a Cleveland Guardians game and go to Cuyahoga National Park. It was within great proximity to both and had all the amenities the kids and I love. Swimming (wish it were open a little later…) laundry 24/7, a game room, store with just what we needed to pick up a few things, a pond that seemed to always have someone fishing at it (that’s a good thing) and a big wide sites to spread out and have a nice campfire in. (Wood available 24/7 and trash pick up at the site in the AM). It’s always nerve wracking when the fire pits are close to the rigs - loved that these sits were wide. And while there are likely people here it feels nice and spread out.

    Woodside Lake Park

Old Park With Iron Laden Well Water Beware

I stayed at this park for 2 months in 2023 and was planing on staying for 5 months in 2025. I left after 2 months due to iron& sulfur laden well water that is provided in at least half the park. I spent hundreds of dollars trying to filter and clean up the water to no avail. It damages everything and they won't put a treatment system in at the well pump like the 2nd well has so you can filter it to an acceptable level for drinking, cooking, washing etc.

In 2023 I was in a section that was treated and my filters/softener did a acceptable job to make it work. I Used the laundry facilities also. This trip to see family in 2025 I was in a different section and by the second day it was unacceptable disgusting turbid rusty water with sulfur odor. I bought additional filters for Ferrous Iron Water treatment and remediation along with iron out chemical for cleaning fixtures and plumbing system on the camper. It barely worked well enough for a couple weeks between filter changes and rinsing the system for shower use. I Had to buy drinking water in town every few days for cooking, drinking and brushing teeth etc.

New owners bought the park in 2023 and have increased monthly rent from$750 a month to$950 a month but don't seem to care enough about the health and comfort of their guest to do anything with the well water for a majority of the park. Let alone any of the other infrastructure or"amenities" to be generous in there reference This year even the laundry machines where too disgusting to use that we had to go into town for laundry also.

The park needs major renovations to just bring it up to modern standards. The bath house is in decrepit condition moldy smelly and barely cleaned anytime I was over there. Site pads are rip rap 1" to 4" size rock with no fine rock coverings, or in some areas smoother rock and dirt but nowhere close to flat or level. Water drainage when its raining is deplorable and you very well might be in a mud pit at your doorway.

It's sad there are no decent RV parks in the Cleveland area, just old campgrounds that have added hook-ups and market themselves as RV parks and now charge like they are RV Resorts. Reserve a space at your own risk and definitely verify where and what water source you are on. Bring plenty of filters and plan on sanitizing your system after staying there.

    Silver Springs Campground

    Affordable

The lots are nice and large. The main problem was very hard to level and soft grass they don’t have a well compacted area for your tt/rv. Would be nice to have bathroom built on the campground. Have to walk to the baseball field to use the bathrooms. Overall had a good time with my family.

Clean facilities: American Wilderness Campground maintains well-kept grounds and buildings. "Beautiful clean serene park with absolutely stunning beach views at sunset. Also the park has older shower and bathrooms however there always clean and well taken care of every few hours staff cleaning!" reports Andrew V.

What you should know

Reservation timing: Popular campgrounds fill quickly, especially for summer and holiday weekends. Jeffrey L. advises about Findley State Park, "Only downfall is trying to find an open spot for reservations. Place is booked most of the time. If you're planning a holiday weekend you need to book 6 months in advance."

Campsite selection: Research specific sites before booking as quality varies. Crystal A. recommends for Findley State Park, "I would recommend doing a some research on campsites as they range from small to large for the same price. The original site I booked was a tent site to small for 2 tents."

Water quality issues: Some campgrounds have notable water characteristics. Derek N. warns about Willow Lake Park, "I'm not sure what's up with the water, but it smells like metal and you're probably better off bringing your own drinking water."

Tent staking challenges: Ground conditions can create unexpected difficulties. Evan D. notes about Findley, "Dirt in the campsites is packed super tight, it's hard to drive tent stakes. However, it's flat enough where it isn't really an issue."

Tips for camping with families

Arcade options: Willow Lake Park offers indoor gaming facilities for rainy days. Luis G. shares, "We loved the vibe here and the campground is nice and quiet and the clean restrooms and shower house was a plus we had a good time taking the kids to the arcade."

Gem mining activities: Several campgrounds provide this popular children's activity. Jessica J. mentions at American Wilderness, "We also had the kids they enjoyed the arcade and gem mining."

Dog-friendly options: Steven V. notes about Camp Hiyo, "Nice park, two fenced dog parks. Bathrooms were clean." However, Tracy L. cautions that Maple Lakes has "a bit restrictive if you have pets."

Dedicated swimming areas: Multiple campgrounds maintain separate swimming facilities. As Jim P. describes Pier-Lon Park, "It is a clean park that has a game room, general store, snacks, and even pot lucks on occasion. There are even Sunday church services too."

Tips from RVers

Seasonal limitations: Sunset Lake Campground and other facilities have specific operating periods. Ro B. notes, "My wife and I visited in early May 2023, they were just starting to open things up after drying out."

Ground conditions: Weather affects site usability. Ro B. also warns about Sunset Lake, "Many of the sites are grassy and I could see the potential to get stuck if you ended up in heavy rains."

Mobile connectivity: Cell service varies by location and carrier. "Mobile service was decent in most parts of the park although our spot F30 was on the fringe for usable video," reports Ro B. regarding Sunset Lake Campground, while Andrea F. notes, "No cell service with Verizon" at Mohican State Park.

Dump station access: Not all campgrounds offer full hookups or convenient dumping facilities. Wilson W. shares about Willow Lake Park, "Very nice and accommodating. Bath house was clean but dated. Verizon 3 bars 5G. I was on site G24."
