Camping at Diamond Lake

Took the Forth of July Trail to Diamond Lake for some camping and fishing. Ended up camping for 4 nights. Aside from a few random hikers throughout the day, I pretty much had the place to myself. Great fishing

Not bad for a night or two

We foolishly thought we might find a dispersed spot at Vedauwoo in mid-July and were disappointed, but not really surprised. We had another pin dropped on our map for the dry camping at Government Gully Rd and headed there in the late afternoon.

The road in is pretty good, our low slung front…

Great place to stay

Great campground. Clean. Pine trees give great shade all day. Hook ups and dump station. Just outside Elizabeth and an easy drive to Colorado Springs area and the Parker/Denver areas.

Feel remote while close to town

Not far outside of Estes Park, but far enough up the side of a mountain to enjoy the wilderness. Sites spaced nicely apart, very well maintained, great fire pits with an attached grill grate. Moose and black bear apparently frequent but haven't caused any problems. This is our 3rd stay here, and…

Beautiful site, friendly people and staff

Staff is really kind and accommodating, there’s a lot of sites that are deeper in the woods and a little lower on the hill that don’t get as great as views so make sure you check out the map.

Great campground with beautiful mountain environment

Clean restrooms and potable water. Sites are separated adequately. Great weather in the summer. Both reservation and first-come sites are available. Mountain biking and hiking are nearby. Nederland Colorado town is nearby (population about 8k) for supplies.

Couldn't make it

We had reservations for this campsite but unfortunately we never made it. It is an EXTREMELY steep trek to this campground so if you or like me had a buddy that is afraid of heights, find a different site. We wish we knew about the trek ahead of time. I'm sure the campsite is beautiful once you…

Fourth of July trailhead to Diamond Lake

You can access this trail from the Nederland side of the mountain. On this side of the mountain, there are more people. If you want a more secluded experience, try accessing from the west side. I'd only recommend doing this trail from late June - early September as the snow can lead to very…

Great car camping spot!

Very wooded area, lots of vaulted toilet and water access. If you are tent camping you can set up your tent anywhere in your space (not restricted to just a pad) Can easily camp 2 families (limit of 2 tents and 8 people) Close walk to a lovely little pond for fishing and plenty of beautiful trails…

Pleasant overnight stay

Despite the bad reviews on google, we decided to give it a go as it has nice pictures. I’m glad we did. It looks like management fixed up the bad reviews and the site we had was one. We had the grill out and the awning was out with ample space. They took the time to tell us in advance that there…

Great quick getaway

We took a quick one night stay at Meridian. We had our two young nephews (4 & 6) with us so we wanted a campground with at least a pit toilet. Meridian was well spaced out, had nice fire pits at each site, and had great shade. Cleanest pit toilets I’ve ever seen and the picnic tables at each…

Tucked away near great hikes

This campsite was a life saver on a cross country trip. All sites in the Denver/Rocky Mountain area were apparently booked months in advance and we were striking out everywhere. The online booking process for Chief Hosa was difficult/mobile-unfriendly which must have worked in our favor, ha! Sites…

Nice State park with several lakes

Hard to find a spot, at least in the summer, so book ahead. We had to play musical campsite thru out our week stay. Clean and pleasant. No laundry facilities though.
