Wonderful getaway

Beach is gorgeous and clean. Sites are easy to back into and connect. Bath houses are clean but could use some bleach. Quiet at night. People were very friendly.
Would definitely visit again.

VA campground in the bay

This is a nice relaxing campground. Seasonal. Very quiet at night and activities on weekends. Clean but the showers were not so good. Poor water pressure and cold. Nice pool and there is a food truck on site. Very nice staff.

RV park near Mathews VA

This is a nice park. My first time with Thousand Trails and it’s odd that you pick your spot once you get there. They were trying online check in but it didn’t work. Very clean quiet at night. This is a huge campground and lots to see and do.

Comfortable stay next to beautiful beaches!

Loved the location - the beaches were surrounded by pine, wetlands, and tall grasses - it felt remote and not overdeveloped!

This campsite is comfortable! The provided insect screen kept us well protected in mid-sept. The hosts had extra supplies tucked under the table which is always a nice…

  • we had our 13' x 9' insect canopy and a 6 person sized tent here
  • hosts provided a hammock!
  • 2 person tent fit here although it could accommodate larger

We've stayed a couple weekends here and liked it so much we decided to stay a month at a time! Great place, friendly people, very reasonable priced.

Two night stay

Great camp ground and it was so empty here! Huge lots that are very level. Hiking and biking. Pool and beaches.

Lots of tall trees, peaceful, full of trails.

Peaceful park filled with plenty of tall trees to stay cool during the summer months. Stayed 21 days (max limit) in June and temps at our site (B46) averaged about 5-10 degrees cooler than out side the park. Fairly decent sized spots, some are hit or miss when it comes to bare dirt, grass,…

Sandwiched in on all sides! And the noise!!

This is a 4 acre parking lot with a good number and quality of very small amenities (pool, dog park) with 60 “sites” sandwiched between roads and very active train tracks. It is NOT a campground.

Owners for several generations have built out the space well but never should have started. Then…

Great Campground

All of the spaces have concrete pads, full hook-ups, and cable TV. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They even stopped when I was walking my trash to the dumpster and gave me a ride to dump the trash. Would definitely recommend.

Sites are downright intimate

The title says it all, the sites are extremely close. Tent campers are an absolute afterthought here, as the sites are in the back and the bathhouse is in the front. But hey, if you can afford a literal house on wheels, you might enjoy this place. The amenities are nice I guess.

NICE PLACE to stay at for a long time

We come every year because it's on our top list of yearly visits. The beach and staff there are nice. Crabbing and fishing there's very popular. Very pet friendly and they also made a beach side for pets to swim at. Wild animals usually pass by often later in the evening, horses, deer, rabbits etc;…

Lovely and quiet campground

Machicomoco State Park is one of Virginia’s brand-new parks in a great location on the York River! All the facilities are new and very clean. I love that the campground bathrooms are all unisex/family bathrooms and there are plenty of them, at least eight I believe. The non-electric sites are in…
