    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Campgrounds near Mashpee Neck range from full-hookup RV parks to primitive tent sites, making Cape Cod accessible for campers of all styles. Shawme Crowell State Forest Campground offers tent, RV, and cabin sites with varying amenities under a tree canopy. Cape Cod Campresort & Cabins in East Falmouth and Bourne Scenic Park feature mixed-use campgrounds with hook-up options for RVs alongside tent camping areas. These campgrounds operate primarily from spring through fall, with most closing between mid-October and early May.

Seasonal considerations heavily impact the camping experience in this coastal region. Many campgrounds require advance reservations, especially during the peak summer season when availability becomes limited. "The camp has so few trees, the winds can be gnarly. On the flip side, the lack of trees gives you a great spot to stargaze, especially if you focus your view out over the ocean," noted one visitor about Scusset Beach State Reservation. Weather conditions vary significantly with coastal storms possible year-round and strong winds common near beachfront sites. Most campgrounds offer varying levels of amenities from primitive tent sites to full RV hookups with water, electric, and sewer connections.

Waterfront locations represent a significant draw for campers in the area. Scusset Beach State Reservation provides direct beach access with camping options overlooking Cape Cod Bay. Several visitors mentioned the proximity to beaches and water activities as major highlights of camping in the region. Bourne Scenic Park offers sites with canal views and access to the Cape Cod Canal bike path. The region balances natural settings with convenient access to Cape Cod attractions. A recent review noted, "We liked this campground because it is close to home. There isn't much to do here within the campground. It is very hilly but many people enjoy riding their bikes here." Several campgrounds near Mashpee Neck provide excellent coastal camping opportunities with access to both Cape Cod Bay and the Atlantic Ocean beaches, making them popular bases for exploring the broader Cape region.

      Atlantic Oaks Campground

      Beautiful campground

Had a wonderful time here! The staff were very friendly, the site H1 was right on the end and well maintained. The bike trail behind the campground was lovely, and you can easily walk to Arnold’s lobster & clam bar to grab some food or ice cream.

      Fort Getty Campground

      Great location!

Fort Getty campground was in an incredible location to Jamestown and with many things to do in the park itself. The tent sites are open field style and some groups can get big so be ready for that. We had tent site 6 and it was tucked back in its own little area which was an awesome surprise. Overall we had a quick stay and everyone we encountered was friendly, bathrooms are older but a short walk from tent area. The access the Jamestown and the surrounding areas and views is what makes this place totally worth it!

      Nickerson State Park Campground

      Love this Park

This is a great asset to the Cape. We live here and it's great to have such a wonderful park right here. No crossing the bridge is a very high point. This park has it all:

Biking, Hiking, small store, swimming, fishing, kayaking or canoeing and close to town if you have other needs or just want to go eat elsewhere. It also has nice bathrooms and showers.

      Indianhead Resort

      Worst place to RV

Long review from a long-term camper, but if you’re considering staying here, it’s worth the read so you know what you’re paying for. My husband and I have stayed here for the past three years, and this year has been, without question, the worst experience we’ve had. We prepaid for a 6-month stay, expecting a quiet, well-managed campground. Instead, we’ve dealt with inconsistency, poor communication, and management that seems focused on the wrong priorities. Before the campground was even fully open, we came to prepare our camper because there were already other campers on the property. While we were there, a woman repeatedly followed us around and watched us before finally approaching us. Rather than treating us like returning guests who have stayed here for years, we were made to feel like we didn’t belong and were questioned as if we were trespassing or trying to live here for free. Ironically, people who don’t even pay to stay here regularly park on the property to use the lake without anyone questioning them. Apparently, paying customers receive more scrutiny than people who aren’t customers at all. Because of that interaction, we were told we couldn’t return for weeks. When we were finally allowed back, our electricity hadn’t even been turned on, and we had to wait while no one seemed particularly concerned about getting it working. Then, completely out of the blue, we were told we had a past-due balance that had supposedly existed all along. At no point were we ever notified. No phone call. No email. No letter. No conversation. Yet somehow we were expected to fix a problem we didn’t even know existed. Meanwhile, the issues that actually affect paying guests continue to be ignored. On weekends and almost every holiday, large groups takes over the campground with 20+ tents, blasting music well into the night and early morning with absolutely no respect for the people who actually pay to stay here. They spread out wherever they want, take over common areas, and even park in front of occupied campsites to the point that we’ve had trouble getting into our own site. Even worse, people were plugging into our electrical service without permission, causing our camper to repeatedly short circuit. We eventually had to install a lock on our own electrical box because management did nothing to stop it after it was brought to their attention. That’s what makes this so frustrating. Management seems incredibly quick to police long-term residents over minor issues, yet has no problem looking the other way while other people take over the campground, block campsites, disturb everyone around them, use utilities they aren’t paying for, damage property, and ignore every basic campground rule. The former management understood that people who spend thousands of dollars to stay here deserve a safe, enjoyable, and well-managed campground. Rules were enforced. Problems were addressed. Paying guests mattered. Now it feels like the people causing the problems face no consequences, while the people paying to be here are the ones expected to tolerate them. I also wouldn’t recommend this campground for families. The“playground” looks like it hasn’t been properly maintained in a very long time and honestly looks like it could earn a child a tetanus shot instead of a fun afternoon. The basketball hoop has been broken, and the laundry area is tucked behind some of the dirtiest bathrooms on the property, surrounded by overgrown grass. None of it reflects the kind of campground this used to be. It’s disappointing because this campground had so much potential and used to be a place we genuinely enjoyed returning to every year. Unfortunately, poor management and a complete lack of consistency have changed that. If you are looking for a campground, there are way better options in the surrounding area with better amenities and better people.

      Nickerson State Park Campground

      Love this place

This campground was wonderful. While the campsites aren’t extremely secluded, there’s still plenty of privacy. The park itself is beautiful, and it’s a fantastic place for both fishing and kayaking. I highly recommend visiting Cape Cod and staying here if you’re looking for a relaxing camping experience.

Adventure Bound Camping Resorts Cape Cod: North Truro

      Loved it!

We came from their Horton’s location which had zero privacy so we were happy when we were able to switch our reservation last minute with no problems. The North Truro campsites were spaced out (we were tent camping), trees for privacy, and a walkable path to the nearest beaches.

Adventure Bound Cape Cod: Horton's Campground

      No Privacy

If you want privacy and real camping vibes, this is not the place for that. “Campsites” are very close together with no trees for privacy. Go to their North Truro location instead! We ended up changing our reservation over once we saw the campsite.

      Newport RV Park

      Clean sites, good location.

We stayed here a number of years ago when it was Milleville Ponds Campground and what an improvement! The park is really clean, well mowed, well-packed gravel roads and camping pads. No problem for big-rigs. There are some seasonals but their sites were tidy. About half the campsites are in the woods and half in the open. There are some deluxe sites with paved patios and nicer fire pits but they are really close together and no shade. We really liked our site (#400) which was gravel, long and level. (We would choose 401 if we came back.) The patio had nice grass which our dog loved. The utilities were well-placed and the electric legs were good at 124 volts. I called to see if there was cable tv because there was a connection on our post and was told that some sites had cable. But, when I hooked it up, we didn’t get any channels; however, we got about 60 over-the-air tv channels. Great wifi. Not much for amenities, just a pavilion and playground. There is a public dog park just outside the park that is really big and you can walk a ¼ mile to a hiking trail. There are three airstreams and a 3-bedroom house for rent. The bath house is centrally located. Unfortunately, they are not super close to the tent sites and there is no path through campsites so you either have to walk around or cut through someone’s site. It took us anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes to get downtown (depending on traffic). There are few restaurants nearby and a grocery less than ten minutes away. Overall, we liked how clean and well-kept the park was and enjoyed our site. We stayed eight nights with the average nightly cost at $81and would come back if in the area.

    Guide to Mashpee Neck

Camping spots near Mashpee Neck, Massachusetts sit at the gateway to Cape Cod, positioned on sandy soils that support distinct pine barrens ecology. Summer temperatures typically range from 70-85°F with higher humidity levels along the coastline. Road noise can affect some campgrounds, particularly those near the Cape Cod Canal bridges where traffic increases significantly during peak season weekends.

    What to do

Beach exploration: 10-15 minutes away from most Mashpee Neck camping areas, with several options for water activities. At Cape Cod Campresort & Cabins, you'll find "a private little lake with rentals & fishing, 2 pools, playground, store, etc. and it's all conveniently located in cape cod" according to camper Aliceon W.

Canal fishing: Outstanding catches possible along the Cape Cod Canal, accessible from several campgrounds. "If you like fishing this is your place," notes Rick R. about Scusset Beach State Reservation, which sits directly on the canal with jetty access.

Biking: Miles of dedicated paths throughout the region, including the Cape Cod Canal Trail. At Nickerson State Park, "there are bike paths in the park and the park is located on the main bike trail on the Cape. We have biked to ice cream shops, restaurants and a nearby beach," shares Heather J.

    What campers like

Pond swimming: Natural spring-fed water at several campgrounds offers clean alternatives to ocean beaches. At Myles Standish State Forest, "the pond water was very clear, seeing as they are fed from natural springs under the ponds," according to Kyle C., who enjoyed swimming in the kettle ponds.

Privacy between sites: Many campers value space from neighbors. Gena F. at Shawme Crowell State Forest Campground notes, "Even though the sites here are pretty uninspiring (no views or much happening right around the campground) you likely won't be hanging out there for long." The campground serves as a good base for Cape Cod exploration.

Affordability: Camping provides budget-friendly Cape Cod access. "Stu L. calls Shawme Crowell the "right price for cape 'lodging'" while Martha's Vineyard Family Campground offers "a semi decent value for what you got" according to Michelle B., making it possible to stay on Martha's Vineyard without hotel prices.

    What you should know

Peak season crowds: Most campgrounds fill completely on summer weekends but empty significantly midweek. Kyle C. observed at Myles Standish: "if you stay on a Friday or Saturday night, the campground may be to capacity, like it was when we stayed. But the Sunday, and Monday nights, the 7 closest spots to us were empty."

Varying noise levels: Traffic sound impacts some campgrounds. Tim C. warns about Bourne Scenic Park: "It is very close to Rt 6 so the traffic noise is almost constant especially friday nights. Not recommended for light sleepers but very convenient."
