The Best Tent Camping Near Point of View, Maryland

The Blackwater Snakehead Campsite is the perfect location for those that like to explore and experience nature when they travel. Located only 4.5 miles from Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge and the Harriett Tubman National Park this campsite is the perfect match to your trip to visit Dorchester County. The campsite is perfect for "getting off the grid" and for "social distancing." But for those that wish to dine, shop, and explore Downtown Cambridge, it is only a 10 minute drive into town!

The campsite is in the middle of a farm field next to a wildlife impediment, behind our farm barn and our home. For the past two years an osprey has built a nest in the field adjacent to the campsite! Thee campsite has a picnic table, fire pit, and composting toilet within an outhouse! During the summer/fall months the fields are grown up in Corn and Soybeans. During the winter/spring months, after the harvest, the fields are open.

The campsite is located close to Pitcher Dam Creek, where you are welcome to put your Kayak over and fish for Snakeheads!



Blackwater Snakehead Campsite

 Matoaka is a privately owned and operated bay-front getaway in Calvert County, Maryland. The facility is nestled quietly on the west shore of the Chesapeake Bay with hundreds of feet of bay views and a one third of a mile private sandy beach for visitor access. 

 The property's many acres are primarily wooded with fields and a winding dirt lane which brings visitors to the main grounds. The main grounds boast beautiful views of the bay, sunrises, and easy access to the beach. The cabins back up to a bamboo forest and overlook the bay.

Cabin Rentals: April 15 to November 1

Check in between 3-8pm - Check out by 11 am

Dogs are not permitted

All cabins have their own kitchen with fridge, propane stove, microwave & basket style coffeemaker.

Bathrooms have stall showers, flush toilets and sink.

Grills are for charcoal cooking only, no wood fires please.

Cabins are not furnished with bedding, towels nor kitchen utencils, etc. 

Please remember to bring: Bedding, towels, kitchen items, paper products, soap and charcoal for the grill.

Youth Group Camping

There are five youth group camping sites available and reservations are required. Youth Group passes are honored.

Access to pit toilets, fire ring, and one 12 foot picnic table are provided with each site. (Available April-October)

Calvert Cliffs State Park Youth Group Camping

This is a 26-acre, start up Christmas tree farm in Huntingtown, MD, just 40 miles south of Washington DC. You'll find a swimming pool, canoe and kayak rentals, and a zip line for kids. There is firewood, fire pits, and an outdoor shower all for your enjoyment. This beautiful area calls for biking, swimming, paddling, horseback riding, fishing and much more! There are 6 sites on the property, with up to 12 guests per site.
