Best RV Parks & Resorts near Lake Mills, WI

I didn't stay here but I did walk through the place to get to know it. This is an RV campground, I did not see any places for tent camping. 

There is a nice playground and four sand volleyball courts. Staying in the campground allows for easy lake access. Be warned, do not park a car/boat trailer and take off in the lake, they're serious about towing non-campers. 

This campground caters to RVs, mobile homes, permanent dwellings and semi-permanent RVs parked to stay. RV hookups with electrical and water/ sewer.

The large sandy beach has lots of space, easy access to both the water and a bar and grill with outdoor seating and lots of umbrellas. The beach features a few beach games and a small amount of seating on the sand. Not many trees for shade, RVs are parked out in the open and would be hot in the summer.

Nice little campground with full hook ups and swimming pool. Kids liked it. Owners were awesome.

Due to the popularity of the park we had to have 2 different sites during our time there - but this was not an issue as they were very close together and moving was a breeze! All sites have a picnic table, fire ring, and flat space for your tent - there are also electrical sites for RV hookups.

There is so much to do at this park! From the crystal clear waters of the lake itself to the hikes along the rock overlooks, you won’t be bored! There are kayaks and canoes and paddle boats to rent at the lake along with a little shop/restaurant that makes the area feel like a mini National Park! Some of the trails connect to the Ice Age Trail that runs throughout WI. Make sure you get to Balanced Rock!

We had such a great time, we’ve already planned a second trip for this summer!

This is a relatively small, private campground mostly for RVs though there are some very nice sites that would be lovely for tents. There are a dozen tent sites that back up to a very charming river, each one has a picnic table and fire pit. The view of the river from these sites is lovely. Adding to the waterworks, there is a cute pond with a charming fountain in the center of the RV sites, and a nice horseshoes pit. There are a number of RV sites with full hookups. 

I spoke with the owner and they did not have tent camping in 2020. They were worried about people in too close proximity in the restroom. In 2020 they only allowed RVs that had their own restroom facilities. The owner told me that maybe there will be tent camping in 2021.

We stayed at State Fair RV Park in Milwaukee for two months while waiting to retire and work out bugs in our new RV. The park was all cement, it was clean and quiet. Laundry and shower facilities were kept very clean as well. There were plenty of grassy areas to take our dog out to potty. The Park is close to many restaurants and shopping. It is also the only RV park in Milwaukee.

This is a small RV and tent campground. A charming little creek runs through it, giving the place its name. There are water and electric hookups for RVs. Some sites have picnic tables, but not all of them. RV sites have ample gravel pads for parking. There is a central sewer dump for RVs, and a small building with bathroom facilities - I didn't get a look inside -- I don't know if it is flush toilets or a pit.

The campground is very close to the freeway and there is a constant din of traffic noise that remind you how close you are to the highway.  See (and listen) to my video to experience just how close the highway is.

On the plus side, golfers can walk next door to a three-par course.

Some of the people I met here say "it's going downhill" but they said that because the breakfast donuts used to be free and so was the ice cream socials. However if I remember correctly the donuts were $1.50 and the ice cream was $3.50. so far from expensive. There are bicycles for rent but they are broken however I've never seen bicycles for rent at a campground before anyways.

As for the campground. It's fine it has nice level pull through sites with clean water and full hook ups. My campsite was missing a bench but I asked for one and was promptly given one. This is what I would consider a value campground so it's in a different category than like a Jellystone or a high end campground. There's a small beach with some floats that have seen better days but are still working just fine. There's a dunk tank free of charge, a bouncr pillow and trampoline. The staff is top notch with great customer service.

It's a small campground but if you have younger children they will love it plus it's connected to the little amerrika amusement park which makes it so much more worth it.

All in all I would come back if I wanted a value friendly quite campground with things for the kids to do and friendly staff.

For a note there was a burn ban from the city issued to the campground while I was there. It was a bummer but definitely not the campgrounds fault and it didn't effect my review.

There is something for everyone at Devils Lake State Park. It is the largest State Park in Wisconsin and is full of hiking trails, canoeing and kayaking on the lake, and large open spaces for the kids to run and play.

If you forget your canoe, don't worry, you can rent one. Don't feel like cooking, no problem, there is plenty of food at the beach.

The family campground is pretty wide open and more conducive to camper trailers, but there are plenty of spots for tents. The bathrooms and showers are clean, and everything is nearby.

The group campsites are awesome, they are on the edge of the park and in the woods. They are very nice. The group campsites even have a modern shower house. Most State parks put there group campsites in the worst part of the campground and they never have showers. In other parks you are lucky to have a pit toilet. Not at Devils Lake, it is the exact opposite. This is a great place for a boy scout troop or youth group camping trip.

This is my favorite park in Wisconsin.

We love this state park for family camping. The sites for RVs have electrical, but no water. The bathrooms are OK, its what you expect from a state park. But the hiking around the park is amazing. There are tons of trails, and 2 wooden observation towers to climb so you can see all the way to Madison on a clear day! If it's a hot summer day, enjoy the swimming pool or head over to Cave of the Mounds where it's always cool. There's also a biking camp ground right off the Ice Age Trail, which makes it a great stop for an overnight or just a break. You're also close enough to drive to Mt. Horeb if you need more action or beer.

We've always enjoyed this campground because the overnight camping are has fewer sites, and therefore less crowded. It's a nice shaded area with some tight spots. If you are in a tent, some even have gravel pads for a level area that drains well. For RVs, be sure to select a bigger site than you think you need. Sometime's it's tricky to maneuver your camper so big rigs may want to stay elsewhere. Our 30 ft. travel trailer fit fine, with some skilled driving. Lots of trees for shade or hammocks, and bigger fields and picnic areas if you need some space to play frisbee.

Blue Mounds State Park is a great campground.  I love the area all the trees.  They have hike in campsites, bike in campsites and regular campsites.  They also have a group area.  If you are in a tent you will have great luck, I would advise in a trailer or Motor Home to inspect you site closely before you say yest to it, or you may be like us and change it 3 times.  Not very many level sites unless you can get up on the tent pad.  At one we thought was fairly level our tires were a good 3 inches off the ground in front.  We finally found one we could live with.  They have limited sites with Electricity so also if you need that look around.

I will have to say that the facilites are really nice and very clean in fact I have never seen a bathroom floor that clean on a weekend.  

Speaking of weekends it does fill up most weekends so you will need to make reservations unless you want to use the hike in sites.

They have a recreation are also in the park that has a beautiful pool.  Picnic areas that are great and towers you can go up to see the Mounds. 

WE have spent 2 times there this summer and will be back next summer.

If you are there there are a few areas to visit.

Mt Horeb the Troll Capital.  It is a small town about 20 miles if that.  Has a Troll theme and you can see the trolls all over the town.  Some good restaurants and one of the weekends we were there was the Art   Tour it is in the entire area and had some great art studios you could visit.

Cave of the Mounds is another place you have to visit.  This is a great cave during the week they give guided tours on the weekend it is self guided but have docents around explaining everything.  Well worth the money and trip.  This is about 5 miles from the Park.

I will say no internet and cell phone was very spotty. It is also one of the darkest areas if you are into the stars, just put something on for Mosquitos. 

All in all a good solid 4, only down side was we were in a Motor Home and the not level sites was not the best.

The sites are very well isolated and shaded, and have a well maintained gravel and packed earth surface. Not great for staking a tent, but doable. Excellent for RVs but some sites are non-electric. There are no other hookups, but there is a dump station. Every site has a fire pit and a picnic table. Many sites have a slight slope. Trail access to both the state park trails and to the Military Ridge Trail which runs nearby.

I stayed two nights in a tent and really struggled to find an ok spot on my site to pitch it, between the slope and the occasional roots and rocks. I managed to get stakes in but only at great effort. It looked like some other sites may have been better suited.

There is a raccoon problem here. They were definitely snooping through my things on the first night. Heard coyotes during the night in the distance.

Overall I'm pretty happy with my stay due to the location in the park, and most of the issues I had would be moot with an RV.

Great, large campground conducive for both tent and trailer/RV camping. Different campsites have different amenities although each spot has a fire pit and picnic table. Only gave it four stars because the bathrooms weren’t open and we had to go off-site to get water. I don’t think they’d warmed up their pumps from the winter yet!

Unfortunately, I can no longer say this is a great, affordable place to stay. The weekly rates increased by over $75 a week for the full hookup sites this season.  

There was also a link to last years pricing still active until 4/16 that has since been deactivated when I asked to have my pricing adjusted to that amount. Seems deceptive to me, having 2 different prices in 2 different places on their site.  They will not honor the price and told me if I don't like it I can find somewhere else to camp. 

Also, they no longer offer kayaks, which was the big draw to the campground. 

We may keep our reservation this year, but likely won't be back next season.
