Camping near Savannah, Texas centers around Lake Lewisville and several developed campgrounds within a 30-minute drive. The Hidden Cove Park & Marina offers tent, RV, and cabin accommodations with lakefront access, while Shady Creek RV Park provides 207 full-hookup sites for larger rigs. Most campgrounds in this region feature electric hookups, drinking water, and reservable sites, with options ranging from primitive tent camping to luxury RV resorts with full amenities.

Road access throughout the camping areas remains well-maintained due to the predominantly developed nature of campgrounds in this suburban region. Summers bring hot temperatures often exceeding 90°F, making waterfront sites particularly desirable during June through September. Most campgrounds require advance reservations, especially for weekend stays and holiday periods when facilities reach capacity quickly. Cell service varies by provider, with some areas reporting limited connectivity. A visitor commented about Hidden Cove Park: "No cell service here. It's a good camp ground. However for T-Mobile service is not good enough for work or streaming."

The lakefront camping experience dominates visitor reviews, with multiple campgrounds offering direct water access for swimming, fishing, and boating. Campers frequently mention the convenience of staying near urban amenities while still enjoying outdoor recreation. As one review noted, "We go here when we want to stay close to home. We've stayed in the tent area and the RV area. Both are always clean and the staff is always friendly." Several campgrounds feature boat ramps, swimming areas, and marina facilities. Noise levels vary significantly between weekdays and weekends, with some visitors reporting late-night activity, particularly during summer months. For those seeking quieter experiences, the Ray Roberts Lake State Park campsites provide more natural surroundings approximately 15 miles north of Savannah.

Isle du Bois Campsites — Ray Roberts Lake State Park

      Perfect for the Family!

Our family had a fantastic 2 night stay. We’ve only stayed at Johnson Branch on Ray Roberts in the past, and have loved Isle Du Bois. Our site is surrounded about beautiful lush trees and overgrowth. The beach is right up the path and my two boys (4&6) loved playing in the water with the kids. Our site is also two sites from the playground and bathroom/showers, which was super convenient! Will definitely be back and eyeing a site right off the water for some fishing!

      Sugar Hill RV Resort

      They have the best cookies!

We've had a wonderful experience at Sugar Hill RV Resort. The park is gorgeous, quiet, and always well-maintained, but what really makes it special is the staff. Kyla goes above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome, she gave us cookies and is always quick to help with anything that comes up. It's rare to find a place that feels this friendly and genuinely cares about its guests. We highly recommend Sugar Hill to anyone looking for a great place to stay.

      COE Lavon Lake Lavonia

      Peaceful Waterfront Campground

Like most of our stops, we only spent one night here, but it was a really nice campground. The sites are large, and being right by the water makes the whole place feel peaceful and relaxing. A big plus was the covered picnic tables and benches at each site, which made it much more comfortable to eat outside without sitting in the direct sun. The only small downside was the bathhouse. It was nice to have your own private bathroom with both a toilet and a shower, but the shower only produced a small stream of water with fairly low pressure. Upgrading the showerheads would definitely improve the experience. It's also worth knowing that you can't access the campground after 10 PM, apparently not even with an access code. Other than those minor issues, this is a really beautiful campground and a great place to stay.

      Hickory Creek COE Campground

      Peaceful lake campground

We have stayed here twice and loved it. Make sure you tie down any kayaks or boats due to wind buy the water. Ours blew away, boo. The spots are great and amenities perfect. The gate does close at night so be careful that you dont get locked out. Learn from our mistake or you have a long walk.

    What you should know
