Best RV Parks & Resorts near Fitzwilliam, NH

Several RV parks surround Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire, offering varied options for motorhome travelers. Woodmore Family Campground and RV Park in nearby Rindge provides big-rig friendly sites with full hookups from Mother's Day through mid-October. Just north in Jaffrey, Gilson Pond Area Campground at Monadnock State Park accommodates RVs with both 30-amp and 50-amp electric service, though as one visitor noted, "If you have an RV take the time to rent an RV site otherwise backing in will put you in an awkward position as the mixed use 'standard' sites are oriented towards tent camping and have narrow driveways." Field and Stream RV Park in Brookline operates year-round with higher rates from October through May, featuring spacious sites with water, electric, and sewer connections. Otter River State Forest in Baldwinville offers pull-through sites with 30/50-amp hookups and full hookup capabilities.

Seasonal availability varies across the region's RV campgrounds, with most operating from May through October. Many parks require advance reservations, particularly during fall foliage season when sites fill quickly. Cell service can be inconsistent throughout the area - Monadnock State Park has "limited cell service from some carriers" according to one reviewer. Navigation to certain parks requires careful planning, as some campgrounds have tight access roads with challenging turns. One RV owner reported needing "9 blocks to get 4 levels high on the downhill wheel" at a nearby state park. Dump stations are available at most RV parks, though not all offer on-site propane service. Pet policies are generally accommodating, with most RV campgrounds welcoming dogs with standard leash requirements. Winter camping options are limited, with Field and Stream RV Park being one of the few year-round facilities in the area.

    Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in Sturbridge - [CLOSED}

    Pine lake , Sturbridge Ma.

I’m told that this used to be Jellystone.

It’s now called Pine Lake Rv and cottages.

Not knowing what the previous campground was like I can’t compare. But the new owners surely did a total revamp. There is approximately 30 cottages and many pull through and back in sites for any size RV.

The bathroom/showers were all new and very nice and clean. It seems to be very family friendly. There’s an 8 acre lake with kayaks and fishing, a basketball court,   a game pavilion and a well stocked store. The RV sites are   spacious and pretty close to near perfect level.

The problems I came across was there were very few places to dispose of camp trash, I had to actually walk around looking for one. The camp store doesn’t open until 9:00AM and closes at 4:00PM

If you can, try and NOT stay on the back upper level ( the 700 ) spots. It’s around 100 feet from a very busy road and loud !

    Spacious Skies French Pond

Comes with a surprise French Pond

The campground has a gravel area at the sites where the fire ring and picnic tables are. Where we parked our trailer was some gravel sand and dirt. We were at the end of a lane, backing in was fine we are small, 21 feet including tongue, we fit fine. Great site across from a beach, on French Pond I’m guessing is at least 25 acres. Most of the sights are long term. Camp was pretty much full, even then it was quiet. Restroom closed to covid, some campgrounds kept them open and just cleaned more. Well no complaint here we’re self contained. Some areas could use some tidying up. Still I would gladly stay here again.

    Forest Lake Campgrounds

Weekend stay, lots of seasonal camping

Site was clean, easy to get in/out with 21' travel trailer. Swimming at the beach wasn't inviting. Lots of seasonal campers with years of lawn ornaments. There was a sense of the campground being clicky place. Pet friendly. Mixed emotions....

    Caton Place Campground

    No friendly service

This past holiday weekend we went to the campground. Upon arrival the owner made me go with them to the site and leave the motorhome blocking the entrance into the campground. The roads aren’t wide enough to take a motorhome into. The pull through site is not level and is barely long enough to fit my 43’ rig (with my motorcycle lift). The owner was very unfriendly. Driving out of the site was just as bad. You have to go down a small hill and bottom out the front and then drag the backend out of the dirt. This campground is not big rig friendly.

Weather conditions can shift rapidly in this area, with cooler nights even during summer months when temperatures typically range from 50-80°F, requiring campers to pack layers regardless of season.

What to do

Waterfall hikes: At Jamaica State Park Campground, trails lead to impressive cascades including Hamilton Falls. As one visitor noted, "We hiked the west river trail (which leads right out of the campground) to Hamilton falls which is a gravel closed road that follows the west river upstream 2 miles to Hamilton falls trail which then leads up hill for another mile to the falls."

Pond paddling: Chapman Acres provides complimentary water equipment for guests. A reviewer mentioned, "The other site is a charming Bell Tent... A hidden path nearby brings you to a canopy covered swing that overlooks the pond. Another path leads you to the canoe access."

Golf and camping combined: Hidden Valley RV and Golf Park offers a unique recreation opportunity with its 9-hole golf course. A camper shared that it's a "Nice RV campground with alot of seasonal residents. Plenty of tent sites. On site general store with grill. Fishing and swimming on property along with a club house."

What campers like

Private wooded sites: Lake Dennison Recreation Area Campground earns praise for its spacious campsites. One camper reported, "The sites on the North side are spacious & quiet. The other side of the campground (east) has a lot of noise pollution from the nearby road which is used by logging trucks."

Year-round availability: Unlike most seasonal campgrounds, Field and Stream RV Park operates throughout winter. A winter camper noted, "They offer all year round camping. Great site right next to the water. Sites are clean and well equipped. Coin laundry with nice machine."

Natural swimming areas: Many campers appreciate the water access at local campgrounds. One visitor to Lake Dennison mentioned, "We've been coming here for 3 years and we always have a blast. It is so convenient to camp right on the lake. We can drop our paddle boards in any time and explore the lake."

What you should know

Limited cell service: Connectivity varies widely across campgrounds near Fitzwilliam. At Jamaica State Park Campground, a camper highlighted this as a positive feature: "small town general store, no cell service and a gorgeous back drop is a perfect spot to just unwind from the real world."

Seasonal closures: Most campgrounds operate from May through October. Thousand Trails Sturbridge runs "April 10 to October 25," while Lake Dennison has an even shorter season from "late May to early September."

Bathroom facilities: Quality varies between parks. A Lake Dennison visitor reported, "The bathrooms also were In poor shape and not well cleaned. Over the course of our 3 night stay, they just got worse with overflowing toilets and trash."

Tips for camping with families

Swimming beaches: Woodmore Family Campground and RV Park offers kid-friendly water recreation. A family reported, "We tent camped here with 2 other families in the summer of 2019. Everything was clean, staff was friendly and attentive. Pool was clean, they have a great wiffleball park."
