Filthy and sad

Lake Afton used to be a good family camping and day site. Now, it is filled with campers who take over the shelter houses by parking in them, putting up tarps with duck tape, and living there for months. The trash is everywhere and no one seems to know how to be kind and respectful of others who…

Nice park, beautiful area, good amenities

We just bought a travel trailer, and this campground was recommended to us as a good place to stop on the way back home by an employee.

There are 12 gravel pull thru sites with 50, 30, and 20 amp service. Each site also has water, a fire pit with a grate, and a nice picnic table (the kind made of…

Was a spacious, shady camp along the river, fished, some short hikes and visited the great salt plains state park and dug crystals that can only find there. Clean bathrooms, showers, and water and elec. Would stay there again..

On the lake with lots of space

Stayed a night here. It was nice and quiet and lots of space in between the camp spots. Showers are a little rudimentary with no real privacy. Big stalls, but doors are only half size so anyone can look in.

One night stay

Great open campsite. Management also worked with us to get a bigger spot so we could pull our vehicle in. We did have some trouble with the vehicle pass. Purchased through the website but there wasn’t really a way to prove it beside the email receipt and they wanted us to purchase another. We…

Yep, we saw bald eagles every day of our stay. Majestic!

This campground is large and spread out. We road our bikes over every inch and clocked 12 miles. If you do mountain bike, you would enjoy the 9 + mile trail ( we walked it). It's flat and not challenging, but really nice, secluded and…

Camping Above the River

Very pretty park with lots of trees in the campground, birdwatching and fishing! Family and group friendly. Sweet little wildwood chapel and nice trails. It's a popular park, well kept and friendly. Paved RV sites with water and electric, some a little too close together. Reservations must…

Surprisingly delightful

Plenty of primitive sites right along the lakeshore, well spaced and most shaded by cottonwood trees. No hookup, just a picnic table and a fire ring. Vault toilets. Stayed one night in our small rv on Columbus weekend in October. Not crowded, extremely quiet. Heard ducks and owls during the night.…

So much fun

You can’t camp at the actual Salt Plains. We spent the day here and had such an awesome time. I took kids ages 3-12 and they all had a blast. Make sure to bring metal shovels and metal hand shovels bc the plastic ones will break, you will want sand buckets, egg cartons to put the crystals in bc…

Great place to stay over in Wichita

Close to everywhere, flat gravel sites, friendly owners and employees, full hookups, nice dog park and kid's playground. We travel through Wichita frequently and are happy to have found a place to stay overnight or longer when needed.

Smarsh Creek Campground

Very nice shaded sites with water and electric hookup. It can be hot in the summer. Campground is clean and well run. Nice, level gravel pads.

  • Shady with a gravel pad. Very clean.

At south loop #147

It's a nice site but the people that departed, after our check-in time, left a mudhole and dog poop everywhere. Don't think we will stay at this site again. The water hookups just make a mess

A great gateway to adventures

The camping at Great Salt Plains State park is a fine place to park the camper and stay, but most of the adventure is elsewhere in the park/refuge. You'll need to drive to get to almost everything.

We stayed at the Sandy Beach Campground. This review is for that campground. If I had to do it…
