Best Campgrounds near Lantana, FL

Campgrounds near Lantana, Florida range from waterfront parks to family-oriented resorts, primarily catering to RV campers and tent sites. John Prince Park Campground in Lake Worth provides lakefront sites with full hookups approximately 6 miles north of Lantana, while Del Raton RV Park in Delray Beach offers compact sites with concrete patios about 5 miles south. Several facilities feature cabin accommodations, including West Palm Beach-Lion Country Safari KOA in Loxahatchee and Jonathan Dickinson State Park in Hobe Sound, expanding options beyond traditional camping.

Most campgrounds in the area operate year-round due to South Florida's subtropical climate, with winter months (November through April) representing peak season when northern visitors migrate south. Reservations become essential during this period, particularly for waterfront sites. Summer brings intense heat, humidity, and afternoon thunderstorms, though camping remains viable with proper preparation. The region's flat terrain provides easy access for most vehicles, with paved roads leading to established campgrounds. One camper noted, "Sites are perfect for big rigs with wide sites that are very easy to pull through or back into, and there's easy access to an adjacent golf course and driving range."

Waterfront camping locations receive consistently positive reviews, particularly sites along Lake Osborne at John Prince Park. Campers frequently mention the opportunity to observe wildlife, including birds, fish, and sometimes manatees at locations like Peanut Island Campground. The proximity to urban amenities while maintaining a natural setting appeals to many visitors. Several campgrounds provide unique experiences beyond standard camping, such as Sunsport Gardens Family Naturist Resort offering a clothing-optional environment, and Lion Country Safari KOA providing opportunities to hear lions roaring in the morning. A visitor remarked, "The water view is nice and it is a really nice campground with 30/50 amp hookups, sewer hookup, and water hookup." Proximity to beaches represents another advantage, with several campgrounds situated within 5-10 miles of Atlantic Ocean access.

    Topeekeegee Yugnee Park Campground

    Great Park

Clean park friendly staff. Great amenities. There are not many downsides two that I want to discuss. The campground does sit next to a train track i believe its a commuter line so there is an early train 4am which is startling. Other downside is park closes at 8, you can still enter through the exit gate until midnight and then have to call security to get in/out.

    Markham Park Campground

A Great Stay at Markham Park!

I stayed at Markham Park on July 28 and had a wonderful experience. The campground is well-maintained, peaceful, and offers plenty of space between sites, giving a nice sense of privacy. The park itself is beautiful, with lots of shaded areas, clean facilities, and easy access to nature trails, bike paths, and water activities.

What I loved most was how much there is to do right on site—whether you enjoy kayaking, fishing, mountain biking, or just relaxing by your campsite, this park has it all. The staff was friendly and helpful, and check-in was quick and easy.

Overall, Markham Park is a perfect spot for a quick getaway or a longer camping trip. I’ll definitely be coming back!

    Pahokee Marina & Campground

    Stunning Views, But Needs Improvements

This campground offers one of the best lakefront views in all of Florida—truly a hidden gem if you’re looking to camp right on the water. The sunsets over Lake Okeechobee are absolutely breathtaking and unlike anywhere else in the state.

The campground does include a pool, which is a nice touch, but unfortunately the amenities are quite limited. The office is closed on Sundays, so plan ahead if you need assistance or have questions during your stay.

The biggest downside was the condition of the restrooms—they were in very poor shape and had a strong, unpleasant odor. This definitely impacted the overall experience.

With a little maintenance and more attention to guest services, this place could easily be a five-star destination. For now, come for the view, but manage your expectations for everything else.

Pine Grove Campground — Jonathan Dickinson State Park

Nice place but lack of shade

The campground is amazing, but due to not having many trees we don’t have shade in the campsites. Just one another have trees, unfortunately. Coming in the summer was a bit tough staying here without an RV with air conditioning. Despite that, everything amazing! Bathrooms super clean, campsites in perfect conditions and so on. Another good thing is that it is close to the city with a huge Publix nearby.
