Best Campgrounds near Boynton Beach, FL

Campgrounds near Boynton Beach, Florida range from established RV parks to state park facilities with tent sites and cabins. John Prince Park Campground in Lake Worth provides waterfront camping on Lake Osborne with full hookups for RVs and tent sites, while Jonathan Dickinson State Park in Hobe Sound offers a more natural setting with two distinct camping areas—Pine Grove Campground near the entrance and River Campground along the Loxahatchee River. Several campgrounds in the area feature amenities like showers, picnic tables, and fire rings, with some locations like West Palm Beach-Lion Country Safari KOA offering glamping options and yurts approximately 20 miles west of Boynton Beach.

The subtropical climate influences camping conditions year-round, with summer months bringing high humidity, temperatures regularly exceeding 90°F, and frequent afternoon thunderstorms. Most campgrounds in the region remain open throughout the year, though reservations are strongly recommended during winter months when seasonal visitors from northern states significantly increase demand. Many established campgrounds provide water and electric hookups, with several offering full sewer connections for extended stays. Cell service is generally reliable throughout the region, though coverage may vary at more remote locations. A visitor noted, "This Palm Beach County campground and park offers you a lot of things to do. Miles of biking paths, fishing and paddling on Lake Osborne, some hiking trails, fitness pavilion and walking trail... all this with short and long term rv/tent camping spots ONLY 5 miles from the beach."

Waterfront camping locations receive consistently positive reviews, with Lake Osborne sites at John Prince Park and river sites at Jonathan Dickinson State Park being particularly popular. Campers report that the River Campground at Jonathan Dickinson provides a more authentic Florida camping experience with palm trees and natural vegetation, though limited shade can be an issue during summer months. Several visitors mentioned the extensive trail systems available for hiking and biking, particularly at Jonathan Dickinson State Park. Based on reviews from The Dyrt, campers should be prepared for insects, especially no-see-ums and mosquitoes during warmer months. Noise levels vary significantly between locations, with campgrounds closer to I-95 and urban areas experiencing more ambient sound than those situated deeper within parks or natural areas.

    Topeekeegee Yugnee Park Campground

    Great Park

Clean park friendly staff. Great amenities. There are not many downsides two that I want to discuss. The campground does sit next to a train track i believe its a commuter line so there is an early train 4am which is startling. Other downside is park closes at 8, you can still enter through the exit gate until midnight and then have to call security to get in/out.

    Markham Park Campground

A Great Stay at Markham Park!

I stayed at Markham Park on July 28 and had a wonderful experience. The campground is well-maintained, peaceful, and offers plenty of space between sites, giving a nice sense of privacy. The park itself is beautiful, with lots of shaded areas, clean facilities, and easy access to nature trails, bike paths, and water activities.

What I loved most was how much there is to do right on site—whether you enjoy kayaking, fishing, mountain biking, or just relaxing by your campsite, this park has it all. The staff was friendly and helpful, and check-in was quick and easy.

Overall, Markham Park is a perfect spot for a quick getaway or a longer camping trip. I’ll definitely be coming back!

    Pahokee Marina & Campground

    Stunning Views, But Needs Improvements

This campground offers one of the best lakefront views in all of Florida—truly a hidden gem if you’re looking to camp right on the water. The sunsets over Lake Okeechobee are absolutely breathtaking and unlike anywhere else in the state.

The campground does include a pool, which is a nice touch, but unfortunately the amenities are quite limited. The office is closed on Sundays, so plan ahead if you need assistance or have questions during your stay.

The biggest downside was the condition of the restrooms—they were in very poor shape and had a strong, unpleasant odor. This definitely impacted the overall experience.

With a little maintenance and more attention to guest services, this place could easily be a five-star destination. For now, come for the view, but manage your expectations for everything else.

Pine Grove Campground — Jonathan Dickinson State Park

Nice place but lack of shade

The campground is amazing, but due to not having many trees we don’t have shade in the campsites. Just one another have trees, unfortunately. Coming in the summer was a bit tough staying here without an RV with air conditioning. Despite that, everything amazing! Bathrooms super clean, campsites in perfect conditions and so on. Another good thing is that it is close to the city with a huge Publix nearby.

    DuPuis Campground

Can't fail with a free camping site

FREE stay, register at the SFWMD site and request a permit. Each site has a fire pit and picnic table. Various trees at the camp sites to provide shade. First come first serve. Two cars, two tents, 6 people max per camp site. The sites surround a pond. I didn't use the compost toilet so I don't have an opinion. I couldn't locate the faucet, but supposedly there is one. You need the code for the combination lock to open the gate which is included with the permit. There is a short trail spur maintained by the FTA that connects the family campground to loop 1. Supposedly you are able to take a shower at the equestrian campsite down the road. Will definitely stay again.

    Phipps Park Campground

    Tent camping the worst

There are no tents allowed here. They have tents that are already set up on platforms and they have holes all over the sides and bottoms, so they are not sealed properly and full of mosquitoes. If you are a camper, absolutely by all means please avoid this park.there are no usable restrooms. Also, you have to park in a parking lot and then walk over a bridge to get to your tent and carry everything on foot.
